I was really bored last night so I drew outfits that I plan to make a wear for Halloween / Anime North / Cosplay.
They are based on kodona / oujisama fashion.

Excuse the horrible-ness of the drawings, they were done rather quickly and I know that the porportions are wrong.

Any suggestions of what to change / add?
And also, what kinda of shoes should I wear?

Good evening lolitas and gentlemen,

As you know, autumn will soon be upon us, and I bet some of us really need new outfits for school! I went to the Anthropologie website and looked through the things for some inspiration, and lo and behold, I found some! I thought I would give you a heads-up because some of the stuff is just too cute.

Take a look! )

So, I'm just curious since it didn't seem that alot of people showed an interest in it..

Who is going to the LI/NY meet up at Milk And Sugar cafe tomorrow at noon? Hmmm?

It'll be my first meet up personally and I'll be the Panda loli. Nothing perfect but it's a start, Right? :D

(And if your not going but do live in the NY/LI area... Why aren't you going? Since it'll be the coolest thing since white lace.)

x-posted to the obviously appropriate communities. :o

Two weeks ago I went in beautiful San Francisco, California for a much-needed vacation. I decided, as part of my "WAFFO I'M FREE FROM WORK!" joy that I was going to wear lolita 24-7 (err... 18-7? I don't have lolita PJs just yet...). I had SO much fun! Everyone at the conference I went to loved my outfit each day (and no, it was not a conference where anyone had ANY idea wtf I was wearing, it was academic and political) and while in SF I even met some of the fabulous local lolitas! But anyway, I thought I'd share my photos. I took so many, that I'm going to just break them up into days so I don't have to do one of those billions-of-photos post. So, here's Thursday of my lolita vacation, Day 1!

To get to SF, my gf and I flew out of Chicago to California. Unfortunately, on Thursday exactly 2 weeks ago, a group of batshit psychos decided to try to blow up airplanes going from the UK to the US using liquid-based explosives. What did this mean? NO LIQUIDS FOR ANYBODY ABOARD THE PLANES. In fact, they searched my bag, decided my lipgloss was a liquid and took it. That's right, you heard me, *took my lipgloss*. I was in lolita, which meant that I could have an f-ing machete hidden in my petticoats or could possibly have stabbed out someone's eye with the tip of my parasol, and I am also a cross-stitcher so I had my stitching with my on the plane which contains needles and a few pocket knives, scissors, and retachable blades that are quite sharp... but the only thing they were concerned about was my lipgloss. This photo sums up just about what I had to say about that:

Please prepare for take-off by fastening your seat belts and putting your tray-tables in the upright and locked position )

Okay, so that was basically Thursday! I was in SF for another 4 days, so (as you can imagine) there are a TON of photos. In fact, Thurs. was the day we did the least amount of stuff, so prepare for more photo fun!

In a related note, I think it would be neat if people posted photos from "What I Did on My Summer Vacation" (if, of course, those photos are related to [livejournal.com profile] egl in some way). I just think it would be neat to see people traveling in lolita... if anyone ever does but me!

Helloo EGL!

I have lurked here for months now and JUST finally sat my butt down and made a lj ^^ so hello!

I have an odd question for you all. I am a gamer and so are most other loli friends and we have tea parties, photoshoots (I will post some of those as soon as I get them uploaded and retouched), and attend conserts and other random outings. On the other hand we also hold small loli gamer tournaments. Weather it is DDR, guitar hero, Taiko drum master, sould claibur, and many others we always have fun doing it! And besides what is cooler than a room full of loli playing video games?.... ya thats right NOTHING!

Recently me and another of my loli friends got back into playing Animal crossing: Wild world for nintendo DS. This game is so addictive! Well why does this have anything to do with this community? I have come to ask if anyone else that has/or is playing this game designs tiny loli clothes for their characters? That has been my new fave thing to do on AC! Recently I have made sevral brand dresses for my AC girl and they turned out wonderful! My current character now has a Metamorphose window print dress in red, a metamorphose berry stripe dress in black, an AP skirt set, and a btssb jsk.

I am working on taking screenshots of my DS but is is proving difficult... so I am going to get my bf do it so I can sow all of you! The clothes look soooooooo cute! Another great thing about it is that your girl also can cary a parasol that you can add a custom texture too as well! I would LOVE to see anything you all come up with!

Also if anyone had nintendo WI-FI I would love to come visit your town and swap designs with you! just tell me and I will give you my friend information!

Ok hope that post wasnt TOO akward ^^
thanks all hope to hear from you! I am off to attemt more screenshots!

(btw also is anyone looking to get rid of a punkuma cowgirl hat in any color? I realy want one ^^ thanks!)

Hello~!
i was wondering if anyone else would be doing a baby the stars shine bright group order?

Hedda is a New Zealand based company with a great selection of chokers priced at about $45 US. The site is bilingual English/German, too.

Black Market Chicago is a fetish shop (the site obviously contains some adult stuff so I just linked the page with the jewelry; be warned that there's a little bit of butt if you scroll down ^_^;) that stocks these gorgeous "Sissy Maid" collars for $57.

Chateau Bizarre is a directory for pretty much anything alternative under the sun. Their primary focus is Gothic clothes and jewelry, but they also carry punk items, housewares, toys, etc. Every week seven new retailers are reviewed on the main page (warning for our younger members that some of the content may be a little risque) and there's a whole section on Lolita under "Wardrobe."

Hello, I hope that this is on topic, but if not I apologize.
I am looking into doing some Lolita themed living statue street performing in San Francisco or Berkley area some time in the fall ( hopefully before it rains..)
If you do not know what a living statue is here is a short description.

Living Statue: A live human dressed as a statue/character who stands still for minutes and who also when approached will interact with the audience.

This is a great creative outlet for anyone who is into design/performing and I am looking for someone to be my partner for some Lolita inspired pieces. I can only ask that you be dedicated, creative and willing to compromise. I take my work very seriously and would like who ever I am working with to do the same. I would love to be able to work with some fellow lolis to make a beautiful scene! Sewing skills are not required, but as long as you have a good attitude and like to dress up and imagine its okay!

If you are interested please email me at wounded_ocean@yahoo.com or post your email and comments here.

Thanks!

Hello! ^_^
I know that someone else already did a review of their Ling Lam rocking horse shoes (with pictures, even!), but I thought I'd throw my opinion in, as well.
When I did "buy it now" on the shoes, the seller Ling Lam was careful to remind me (a couple of times) that the soles of the shoes were FOAM, and not WOOD (wasn't there some trouble with this on the group order here? She said wood when it was foam?). So, perhaps (I don't know for sure, of course) there was some confusion with the seller. Maybe she wasn't trying to be deceptive, that is. Either way, for my particular order, she was careful to make sure I knew they were foam.
I did buy it now about a week and a half ago, and the shoes arrived TODAY. Super fast shipping from Hong Kong! So I'm very happy about that. She was very easy to contact when I had a question (answered my emails within the same day), and the shoes arrived EXACTLY as described. They are the Montreal brand, but they are still nice, and I feel that they were worth the price because the ordering was so easy and the shipping was so fast. (Only MY opinion, of course! I know that many of you absolutely want WOOD soles, and that's fine too).
In short, if you don't mind foam soles, I had no trouble whatsoever with Ling Lam. I'm sorry for those of you who had trouble with the group order, but when mediated through ebay at least, the sale was very smooth for me.

A while ago, someone posted an article about g&l's link with gender roles and rebellion [if i remember correctly..] it was black and white, with a centre picture of a girl in black? I'm writing a report for asian history, and need to quote the source.

Does anyone know where i can find this article? and yes, i've checked the memories :D

I have some questions...
are the stores in Japan really small? Or that small? (i saw some on the internet that looked small mostly botiques though)
How tall do you have to be to wear most lolita clothings ?
And are the Viviene Westwood many stores sell authentic ? Or replica ?

Sorry if I create a dilly-dally (this is my first post) but i was wondering if anyone could direct me to some decent sized card suit patterns?
I'm having a stab at my first skirt and the last thing to do before it's finished is decorate it with diamonds, clubs, hearts and a few spades ^_^

Thankyou <3

Tea @ Ritz

So, on Tuesday [livejournal.com profile] electroncat and I scoped out a potential tea party location in downtown Atlanta, for a meetup for Dragon*Con. We fancied ourselves up for afternoon tea at the Ritz Carlton and took some pictures, of course! We had a lot of fun confusing people and prancing around in floofy dresses, but not so much fun waiting for the rain to stop T__T Alas~ On with the pictures (please forgive all spelling and grammatical errors, I'm so ready for bed!)

[livejournal.com profile] electroncat (red hair) and [livejournal.com profile] emiko (black hair), in case you didn't know ;)

Of Tea and Creepy Guys : Lots of photos, so be warned~ )

Keep an eye out for a post by Kats concerning a tea party/meetup for Dragon*con (labor day weekend, Atlanta GA)... Soonish. Sometime after this post XD;;

And for the record:
[livejournal.com profile] electroncat is probably wearing stuff all made by her back around Momo-con, except maybe the shoes and stockings ;) I'm wearing BTSSB dress and petti, Supert3ch bloomers and alice bow, and the rest is just mall stuff.

I WILL BAN THE NEXT PERSON TO BRING UP OFFSITE DRAMA IN THIS COMMUNITY, TROLL, OR GENERALLY ACT AS A PUBLIC ANNOYANCE.

That's right.
I will come to your house.
Eat all your food.
Use the toilet and not wash my hands.
Then rub them all over your RORITA CLOTHING.
And generally eff your hooha up.

Please note that this event is open to anyone who will be in the area and not just those attending Dragon*Con! I'm looking at you [livejournal.com profile] carnet_atelier. ^_~

If you want to preview how much fun you'll have if you come, check out [livejournal.com profile] emiko's post here.
