Packing a petticoat?
Aug. 2nd, 2006 01:39 amSo as of Saturday I will be moving to Japan for a least a year to teach with the JET program. I plan on bringing some of my loli stuff. However, how do I pack my petticoat so that it doesn't lose its poof? As I will be trying to pack my entire life into two suitcases, everything will most likely be very tightly packed.
Any suggestions? It's really a nice petti and I don't want to ruin it.

Aug. 2nd, 2006 02:18 amDoes anyone have any additional pictures or reviews regarding these bodyline items ?
the chiffon two piece set
and the shirring blouse
I'm pretty wary about cosmates because I definately don't want my clothes to have a costume-y vibe, witch bodyline items tend to have. Any input on this would be great.
Thanks in advance :)

EGA for MEN
Aug. 2nd, 2006 03:44 amHey all. To start this off, I want to say that I am desperate. Very desperate.
Roughly less than 2 years now--what might be long to some, and short to others--I have been looking for clothing that fits my taste. It's incredibly tough. As of now, I currently live on black Dickies pants, regular black T-shirts, and a black pirate shirt that's actually not that bad looking. But none of this is my taste. And this is where I am on my knees begging you for help. I need clothes!
A brief overview of my taste: I am into EGA much more than EGL. It's more formal, less influenced by pop-culture. But don't get me wrong, I don't want an outfit I can barely move in. Apparel from the movie Interview With The Vampire is a good example, although most of it is more aristocratic and less gothic.
That said, remember--I am desperate. Any good, non-tacky clothing I would love to see. Oh, and one last thing; I'm not rich, so a blouse for $100 just isn't going to happen.
Thank you all for any help offered!

Problems with sasuga books
Aug. 2nd, 2006 09:34 amHas anyone else ever had a problem with Sasuga Books before? I ordered Gosu Rori Vol. 6 from them last month on July 9th and it still says it's processing. Now I recieved and email from them 5 days later after I ordered saying it would take about 3 days to process the order. I just sent them an email asking what's going on. I'm starting college early in Philly and am wondering if it's really worth the wait for this.
I design clothes mostly, its what I do, I dont make them just design them. I was designing a dress and came across some problems in mechanics. Thats where you all come in. I pretty please need pictures of backs and fronts (mostly backs) of One peices with peterpan(rounded) collars that dont remove. Thank you!
[EDIT] Thanks for the help! I decided to go with the split back that rounds. <3

Aug. 2nd, 2006 11:15 amHey everybody!
( A quick question about getting a reproduction sometime in the future here. )
And another question: is there such a thing as an empire-waisted Lolita dress? Because of the way I'm built (short and stocky,) an empire waist is the most flattering cut for me.

The infamous Bodyline dress
Aug. 2nd, 2006 01:09 pmAlmost everybody knows the infamous Bodyline maid dress, no longer carried in its original form by Bodyline (this was the only example of it I could find quickly, for those of you who don't; I think she's wearing the original Bodyline brand one, buuuut I think maybe she's too tall for it). And at least a good portion of you know that for a long time now, In the Starlight has been making a better-priced repro of it.
I only have two onepieces in a sea of skirts and a handful of jsks, so I thought that after Otakon I might invest in another one, if not nearly as pricey as the last one I bought. (And no, I still don't know how to make my own onepieces :P) The ITS maid dress is a good price and all, but I'm not exactly 'starting out' here, so I want it to be a little more unique.
So here's the challenge. Without changing the basic cut of the dress—princess seams, gathered bust—if you could play around with the color scheme, the trim, add extra details (pintucks, ruffles, detachable sleeves, etc), or remove details... What would you do? I've got some of my own ideas, but I really like to hear others sound off, and it's always at least a bit inspiring. You can go as crazy as you want, though for myself I don't want to go over the $120 mark (the ITS dress as is is $80).

Otakon EGL panel information.
Aug. 2nd, 2006 07:34 pmGreetings fellow (HAHA) lolitas.
OTAKON EGL PANEL
Okay, now that I've got your attention (I LOVE ME SOME ANNOYING LARGE TEXT), I am here to inform you about
electroncat's EGL panel at Otakon, this Saturday.
Sadly,
electroncat is unable to attend the convention anymore, so running the panel in her place will be the oh-so-lolita
sadistic_apollo. (I am making this entry at his request. :3)
There will be prizes for audience participation, as well as some of the best dressed lolitas being asked on stage to display their outfits.
So, dress your best and hope
sadistic_apollo picks you! You'll gain an excellent 5 minutes of fame.
Edit: Note, dressing up is not required, but if you do, you might be chosen as a model!
What: "Gothic and Lolita in America" panel
Where: Panel room 3, Otakon, Baltimore, MD, USA
When: 2pm, Saturday, August 5th
Be there, or be square. Hurrrrr.
ps: I'll be in the "I hate EGL" shirt :D

Elegant gothic lolita quote collection
Aug. 2nd, 2006 08:38 pmI have a quaint idea for this community! Why don't we contribute quotes here... more those which are reminiscient of sweet lolita, gothic, aristocrat, victorian times and verses etc...I'm sure each of us has a little of our favourites. :)
I shall start-
“Can I forget—canst thou forget,
When playing with thy golden hair,
How quick thy fluttering heart did move?
Oh! by my soul, I see thee yet,
With eyes so languid, breast so fair,
And lips, though silent, breathing love.”
--- Extracted from Remind Me Not, Remind Me Not by George Gordon Lord Byron

I am pretty pleased with myself!
Aug. 2nd, 2006 09:07 pmAnd for various reasons.
1. Last night, I finished a bxw headdress/jsk set—my first jsk ever! At least three all-nighters involved in the creation of thismonstrosity thing. I hate gathering now and forever.
2. I have a new MAM parasol, and boy is it fun. I could raise kids under this thing it's so huge. In fact, I liked it so much I decided to do a couple poses with the sucker.
( On that note, onto the photos! (NOT DIALUP FRIENDLY.) )

i purchased a dress on commishion from a member of this community, i stated that i needed it for Otakon this weekend, and that it had to arrive by today, as im leaving tomorrow for the con,
