I am pretty pleased with myself!
Aug. 2nd, 2006 09:07 pmAnd for various reasons.
1. Last night, I finished a bxw headdress/jsk set—my first jsk ever! At least three all-nighters involved in the creation of thismonstrosity thing. I hate gathering now and forever.
2. I have a new MAM parasol, and boy is it fun. I could raise kids under this thing it's so huge. In fact, I liked it so much I decided to do a couple poses with the sucker.
Quick disclaimer: My monitor is dark, so I don't know how much detail you can see. I can't see all THAT much.

It's staying steady around 100°F here in New York Hell, give or take a couple degrees. That is why I am so disgustingly sweaty. But despite the heat and multiple layers, I am happy, yes!
Anyway, I made this all with black broadcloth (and some cotton
sakurafairy gave me for the bodice lining), three kinds of venise lace, some music note fabric I got in the sewing goody box from
basiik for the bows, and five mildly-crooked, tear-inducing rows of shirring in the back. Next time I'm using Tyler's shirring method instead. @_@;

"Are you talking to me? Are you talking to me?"

Note how the skirt poofs directly from the waist, there; I felt slightly like a Barbie cake.

I'm thinking about eating some brains for dinner later tonight. Mmmm, noodly.

And a closeup of the headdress while still attached to my head, just for the lace. The center lace (which, you notice, is the dominant lace on the dress) came from
seeinglife, and the lace around the edge is also from
basiik's goody box.

Now then... Remember that skirt
vitalritari made me? The one that outshines its wearer with all its glory? Well, I tried to coordinate it again, AND this time, after so much advice, I wore a pushup bra (thank you, H&M) that completely outmuscles whatever I was wearing last time. And I also was told the correct tophat angle, so fixed that as well.

Five years of ballet and two of horseback riding may not have done much for my figure, but at least I can say I came away with good posture.

Plz disregard my gross arms. >_>;

Behold my suddenly SQUARE JAW! I discovered that if I don't tug this blouse's sleeves down from time to time, I look like a football player, a bit.

"Listen, I've had about as much as I can take from you, Tony. Tonight, you can feed the fishes."

Now here's a rare sight—me without my glasses! I'm sorry I look so surly, but I really and honestly am totally blind here, everything past 5" away from my eyes is blurry without my glasses. I also notice that with my glasses off, my Dominican half makes an appearance. Or maybe it's just the surliness. D: What do you think, guys? Should I take my glasses off for future photos, and work on not looking surly while doing so?

And here's a solo shot of my beloved new parasol, without which this photoshoot would not have happened, really.

On a side note, I also received this as a gift yesterday, since Laforet was going crazy with sales. :D It's certainly not loli, but I have NO qualms about wearing brand with my street clothes.

I just got this (http://maxicimam.com/_mam/8C3001.html) in pink and this (http://maxicimam.com/_mam/8C2001.html) in black from them through Celga. I can't *wait* for them to arrive-- hopefully by the time they get here it'll be cold enough to actually, you know, wear them! *drips sweat*

And tch, don't complain about your arms, I think I have more beefy-out-of-proportion-upper-arms than you do, you're not bad at all. XP

In a really great way.
I praise you for having the guts to deal with the whole bra issue on EGL and furthermore for going out there and taking some advice and looking so much more lovely this time around.
I associate with the whole glasses thing - I wear contacts 24/7 and I feel like a retard with them out. That said, I like you more with the glasses off. The picture of you with the glasses off - there's an intensity in there that I really enjoy.
Well done.

The day before yesterday the weather said "Feels like 118F" in NYC...it was so painful (Our apartment has no air conditioning and gets really hot, sometimes it's hotter inside than outside).

Date: 2006-08-03 05:52 pm (UTC)I'm probably as..uh, visually impaired as you, I wear contacts with my lolita stuff mostly but I think that you could wear your glasses with lolita because they have those roundy old-fashioned frames. Mine are purple and metallic which is why contacts are for me.
