A while back I saw this newspaper article on elegant gothic lolita as a form of female empowerment (or something to that effect) on this community, and I'm looking to track down both that and anything else I can get (along with the name of the publication it and any other articles I might be gathering from this post comes from!). I am doing a project, you see, and must gather these things.

Any help anyone in this community could provide would be muchly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hallololi!

Hello everyone,
I haven't posted here in forever...but i was sewing like a fiend today and thought I'd share what I came up with!

A while back there was a post about Halloween-themed lolis, and I thought it was a really cute idea-then I saw this adorable Jack-o-Lantern border-print fabric at a local craft store and it was just too good to pass up.

This is the first time I've actually made an entire dress from scratch. I've been sewing for years, but loli-sewing is pretty new to me. I'd never done shirring before, either (WHOOO BOY). I also had no pattern for this-just my scissors and measuring tape and comprehensive knowledge of basic geometry. So, needless to say, I'm rather proud of myself.

Anyway, without further ado, I present to you:

Has anyone had luck with French Toast blouses as a basic piece? Specifically, what do you think of this one?

I'm thinking of getting it and adding just a little black or white lace trim on the edges of the collar and both sides of...err...button strip. Promising?

Did anyone else see the loli girl in Snakes on a Plane?

I just got a new pen pal from Japan Pen Friend.  When she had read that I like the Gothic Lolita style, she not only told me that she sews clothing but she also draws and she made this for me!  I had to share it with everyone!

....has anyone actually received an item of clothing from Ling Lam yet? I am sooo curious to know what the quality is like. Anyone?? Thanks!!! -M. <3

I am new to the community, but have loved the gothic lolita style for years.
I am very particular about how I look in clothes so am not very keen on purchasing items from online as of yet.
I am wondering if anyone here knows where I can get patters so I can make my own loli clothes. (I am a novice sewer as well.)

Thank you. :)

Would anyone be interested in taking part in a Baby group order?  I want to order a simple shirt but I don't want to pay the high shipping for just that.  Any takers?

I've checked the memories, couldn't find what I'm looking for. So I just want to ask about the sizing of the double decker shoes.

I might be reading the website wrong, but they appear to show available sizes of 23cm to 25cm? (I realize I should email the company and ask for specific size info). I want to know if any US size 8.5 WIDE, or 9, 9.5 or 10 Narrow ladies have ordered any of their shoes (I'm interested in the Rockinghorse, and the 10-Hole Boots). If so, any thoughts? Too small? Long enough, but not wide enough?

FYI I wear an 8 Converse Chuck size, all the way to a 10 in my pointy Steve Madden heeled boots. It seriously depends upon the shoe. These seem like I'm going to need a 9. According to at least one size chart the 25cm is a US women's 8.5.

Thanks!

I got my emblem bag last week. Meta emailed me to tell me they were sending it out on thursday and it arrived Saturday. Of course I missed it because I'm never at my door when the mail comes and I have to be there for registered mail. I guess I should be happy they didn't just drop the bag on my porch.

You know, winter is coming and all that. :)

And so, I was wondering, I happened to see this little bag-like thing in one of the egl bibles (i forgot which) and was wondering what it was called, and where I can get it from. Basically, it is like a pouch and you keep your hands inside it, then the ends are tied with string around your neck. The pouch is usually made of fur like warm material I think. :) So it quite functions like gloves :) Any idea? :)

I'm sorry to post with just this question but i really do need to know!
Is anyone having problems emailing them this last week? I sent them an email in the beggining of last week and another recently and they didn't reply.
Maybe the ppl who speak english are on vacation or something, i am kinda worried. :X

I'm going to try sending them an email with another address. I was convinced they were on vacation or something! ;_;

My friends and I have been twising our brains in knots for a while over what size shoes we should get from Double Decker - their creepers, that is.

I'm wondering if anyone OWNS these shoes and has bought ANY size and can give the size they bought, the size shoes they normally wear (US size) and how the shoes fitted them - whether there was adequate room at the front of the toes, the width, how much room there is ect.

;; We love you.

Hello everyone!
I have checked older posts and the memories and I haven't seen answers to these questions, sorry if they have already been asked...

- when ordering from fanplus friend, has anyone had to pay taxes when the package arrived? I'm not sure of how taxes work for this kind of purchase...

- About how many extra space do they add for coats?
I'm interested in this coat. I like coats to be quite large, so that I can wear several layers under (such as blouse+jacket+scarf) and be comfortable, is it ok or should I ask them to add more extra space? Looking at loli coats pictures, it seems that some of them are quite close-fitting.

Thanks a lot :)

Question??

I'm in LOVE with the Lolita look, that's for sure, but I've never had enough money so I don't really have any Loli pieces  (ToT)

Still, that doesn't stop me from visiting many Loli-clothing websites. Yays.
But I was on Metamorphose yesterday and saw my two obsessions cross paths!! Marine style nautical fashions and Gothic Lolita. The pics of the most gorgeous Loli outfits were on the home page but when I was searching their available clothes, I couldn't find them! *tear tear*.

My questions to you guys is, how does that website work??
LoL I probably sound stupid but, are those just previews of coming outfits or something you have to reserve only... lol which is another thing that's always eluded me. How does the whole reservation system work??

Love and Huggles,

I've had this question posted over at [livejournal.com profile] egl_books for some time, without getting an answer, so I thought I'd consult the wisdom of the masses here at [livejournal.com profile] egl. It's a burning question I've harbored for many a month...

What is Momoko reading in the cafe scene of the film Shimotsuma Monogatari?

Is it a book? Is it a manga? Does it exist? Is it for sale in japan? If so, where, and how much? *wants to get her hands on a copy*
[identity profile] moineau.livejournal.com
I have to say that this is the coat of my dreams. While I can be pretty sure that the quality of Mary Magdalene's items must be decent (especially considering how much the item is), the price is just a tad bit steep for my tastes.

Fan+Friend offers a similar coat here. As of late, I've heard a pretty mixed bag about experiences from F+F.

My question specifically is, since after shipping the F+F similar design is going to cost me a pretty penny still, is it worth it just to save up for the Mary Magdalene coat? If anyone has bought any items from Mary Magdalene in the past, would you mind sharing what the quality was like? (ie: Would something like that hold to almost daily use?)

Thanks so much.. ♥♥♥

I am extending the join date until the 11th. I am also going to open it up to Money orders and very well concealed cash (at your own risk).

[profile] kyra_cat introduced a couple of HK/China lolita shoes seller in this post: http://community.livejournal.com/egl/6061325.html and I emailed one of them Kiki, regarding her lolita shoes. After some days (definitely more than two, could be close to a week but I wasn't checking), she emailed me back and informed that yes, they do ship international, but they charge a 10% for using Paypal.

I know someone mentioned in the same post that she emailed Kiki and she said she did not ship internationally. Weird. > . <

I’ve been having the biggest annoyance with ruffles lately… I’ve tried doing it the hand way five times now and the thread either gets tangled or it snaps.

I was wondering where I could get a ruffle foot attachment for my sewing machine for cheap, or semi-cheap. (And how to use it if possible). My sewing machine is a Singer (if that helps at all).

if anyone is interested in having authentic geisha shoes, or at least they look that way to me, and they are relatively inexpensive, here is a link to a sale on ebay for them. also the store selling them says they can get them custom made. They are still over $100, but it's better than the $600-800 for the real thing ^_^
