Hallololi!
Aug. 29th, 2006 01:49 amHello everyone,
I haven't posted here in forever...but i was sewing like a fiend today and thought I'd share what I came up with!
A while back there was a post about Halloween-themed lolis, and I thought it was a really cute idea-then I saw this adorable Jack-o-Lantern border-print fabric at a local craft store and it was just too good to pass up.
This is the first time I've actually made an entire dress from scratch. I've been sewing for years, but loli-sewing is pretty new to me. I'd never done shirring before, either (WHOOO BOY). I also had no pattern for this-just my scissors and measuring tape and comprehensive knowledge of basic geometry. So, needless to say, I'm rather proud of myself.
Anyway, without further ado, I present to you:

Please please ignore my heinously messy room and lack of accessories/attention to hair and makeup. It's almost two AM and I was just so excited about this dress, I HAD to share. Also, my camera gives everyone demonic red-eye. I'm not that possessed-looking in real life, honest.

For lack of better legwear, I threw on the stripey tights. I actually really like the Tim Burton look for a Halloween outfit.
I plan to add a neck ribbon (the criss-cross kind, I dunno if there's a special SUPA RORI term for that or not), some trim, and the back of the dress has corset-lacing that isn't in yet, but for the most part it's finished. I started making the skirt yesterday afternoon, the whole thing probably took me about six hours total. Shirring will KILL you, man. It looks cute, but it's a BITCH to get straight. You can't really tell, but mine is a bit crooked in places ^^; Oh well, next time I'll know to mark the fabric before I sew on the elastic.

Obligatory pigeon-toed pose. Yes, I look like crap. It's two am, bite me. Eventually I'll take some better pics with actual attention to hair/makeup/etc. I plan to make an Alice bow for this, as well.

Attempting to avoid the red-eye by not looking at the camera. It didn't work.

Obligatory cat picture! Damn, he's fat. He's also not happy that I woke him up to make him pose with me, poor guy.
So, there you have it. What do you think? All forms of criticism welcome, as this is my first try and I want to improve! ^_^

(I did a Hallowe'en Witch Lolita outfit last year and forced my fiancé into the Hallowe'en themed Disneyland Paris to take pics lol, any excuse is good to go to Disneyland haha).

Date: 2006-08-30 06:03 am (UTC)I was thinking of making a mini-witch hat, even though I'm generally not a fan of mini-hats...a little witch hat would just be so cute.
I'm glad you like it ^_^
