ruffle foot attachment
Aug. 29th, 2006 06:55 pmI’ve been having the biggest annoyance with ruffles lately… I’ve tried doing it the hand way five times now and the thread either gets tangled or it snaps.
I was wondering where I could get a ruffle foot attachment for my sewing machine for cheap, or semi-cheap. (And how to use it if possible). My sewing machine is a Singer (if that helps at all).

Date: 2006-08-30 01:42 am (UTC)Most machines I think, take a foot that is usually in the $25-40 range. But if you call around to the different sew and vac/sewing dealer and repair shops in your phone book, you may get a good deal--look at non-chain stores in particular.
Recently I lost my all-purpose foot, and went to a small sewing place to buy a new one; out of curiousity I asked the prices for their rufflers, and I was quoted something like $25-30, I believe.
I don't have the site handy right now, but there was one online store that was selling a certain kind of ruffler for about $10, though it only worked for some machines. I think it may have been for Singer machines...

I was wrong, but still; you could contact the people who own the store via email or something and they'll help you out. I got this link from someone who ordered successfully from them in the corsetmakers LJ community, I believe.

Date: 2006-08-30 04:49 am (UTC)It should be written on your machine, so just jot it on a sticky note and show it to the lady at the store. Because some won't fit certain machines, and its always best to make sure it will fit before you buy it!
