I came across an old highgate jacket of mine, and thought, "Hey! We could do something with this!" So, I would love to have any kind of input as to what kind of alterations would make it less frumpy and more spiffy. ^_^
Pictures! )

Opinions anyone? :)

Welcome to the world of Morbidly Adorable Fairy Tales. Miss Luna Sea may be seen nightly going around the town with her companions. You will never see her without the blind cat that sees all or without the skeleton doll that speaks truths. She is a dark character that is surrounded by beauty, mischief, and enchantment. Welcome to her world!

Ha ha! Yes, I know the band Luna Sea! This is a painting that I did of an LJ friend in the dress that I'd love to have one day. I wish I could find skulls on lolita dresses. There needs to be Skull Lolita! LOL I guess I'd better learn to sew:/ I can envision the dress, but I can't make it!

I hope you enjoy! XOXOXOXOXO!!!!!!!!!!

So from Nov. 25 - Jan. 1st I am going to be taking a trip through China and Japan. Yes, I'm lucky, but this isn't a result of being spoiled... just lots of hard work and some unfortunate events.

At any rate, I'd like to meet some of you fine folks in the community for fun and games, and of course dorking about in lolita clothing. So can I get a comment on anyone who lives in the following cities and would like to hang out?

San Francisco
Hong Kong
Shanghai
Beijing
Tokyo

Please comment below, and I'll make sure to email you so we can start figuring things out. I won't ask anyone to play tour guide because I'm from a big city myself and I know how that can be a bit annoying. But if anyone wants to show off their hometown, please feel free. Especially anyone who wants to show me great places in China to eat because I think half the reason I am going is for delicious noodles. XDDD

Also, I wouldn't mind hosting a gothic lolita event in San Francisco, or co-hosting with the local group. I'd host one pretty much anywhere, in fact, so lemme know...

I throw myself upon your mercy, oh lovely EGL community.

I'm hosting a Japanese Fashion panel at the Melbourne Anime Festival tomorrow night (6pm, Theatre C) and I now need your help/constructive criticisms of what I am planning to wear.

So, what have I gotten myself into? )

I'm new here and looking for anyone located in SLC, Utah?
My doll and I would really like to meet other people (or dolls) in the area interested in Super Dollfie or egl!
This may not be the right place to post, I'm just guessing that people interested in egl may be interested in Super Dollfie too.

Me and [livejournal.com profile] nekoayuchan are co-hosting a meetup in Daytona Beach. Anyone interested?

Hello there! My name is Sadie, and I am in the process of creating a Lolita website.

Everyone is always after patterns arent they? Well so am i, but so
that i can create a database of patterns online. Then everyone will
have patterns all the time, and we can direct everyone who asks
straight to the database.

So here is how it works. You email me patterns (from Gosu Loli, GBL,
handmade GL etc) and you get handmade jewellery in return. Cool huh?
It is a bit of a lucky dip im afraid as i have so much lying around,
but its all pretty.

My mother is sitting here and telling me that the name of the Lolita fashion came from a book in the 1950's where a man begins to lust after his young stepdaughter.

Would anyone here like to explain to her the origin of the name and how it doesn't do with this? Or does it? She's making it out to be like many people do; some sort of fetish. I know there is an actual fetish for young women, but is the fashion of EGL named after that? The name Lolita itself means a sexually pretenious young girl. Yet 'Lola' derives from sorrowful.

I guess I'm basically asking if the fashion Lolita is named after this novel.

Forgive me...it seems that all I seem to do when I post is ask questions. >__< But for an upcoming Halloween outfit, I was thinking of incorporating a white leather waist cincher into a lolita outfit. Would this work or look too strange? If the former, are there any fabric stores (physical or online) that sell the material to make one? I've tried looking at Hancock Fabrics, JoAnns, Denverfabrics.com, and Walmart, but so far no luck. :/

Also, I've been thinking about cutting my hair (planned to do it around Christmas last year, but ended up chickening out); is there a sort of cut that would fit most genres of the lolita style (gothic, punk, sweet, etc.)? Because I thought about a layered cut that seems to go with a lot of punk lolita looks, but I wasn't sure if that would make my hair more difficult to style for other catagories.

And lastly, a question about this outfit that I made recently.

This )

Again, I apologize for all my questions.

I had an odd dream a few nights ago where I was at the opera searching for a specific girl in gothic lolita garb, I have the feeling I was supposed to ask her something.

So my question is: Has anyone here ever worn EGL or EGA to an opera? (I've never been to one, but I'd love to try it.) What does everyone think of the idea? I was thinking something tragic would be a perfect type to wear it out to!

I might try something along those lines once my sewing machine gets out of storage, so let me know your feedback!

So, in the week before UCI begins school again, there have been a lot of things going on!! As part of my old freshman hall (Sierra) -- it's quite a long and drawn out story -- I had a lot of parties to go to every day of the week. And of course, I dressed up loli or casual loli or loli-inspired / influenced (I decided to pair a loli-type top with some Seven jeans that I haven't worn in forever due to an entry from [livejournal.com profile] aimeekitty a couple of days ago). I also had my six months with my boyfriend and we went to Laguna Beach where lots and lots of pictures were taken. I particularly like the beach set of photos not only because of the occasion (DUH), but also because it features black and white (which are my usual loli colors -- even though I've started incorporating more color into my wardrobe -- I just never get around to posting pictures of such outfits on this community).

Anyway, here are the pics in chronological order. Be warned that some of them hint at a bit of infamous college behaviour (IE -- drinking). Here you go. )

Whew! That was a lot of pictures. Hope everyone enjoyed seeing the different ways I wear loli [depending on the situation, scenario, goal, whathaveyou]. Comments of almost all kinds are always appreciated!! Thank you.
