Otakon 2006 was a great place for lolitas this year with two panels, a fashion contest, two teaparties, and Baby and Bodyline being sold at the Dealer's Room.
Otakon 2006 was a great year for me as a lolita because I met the editor-in-chief of the Gothic&Lolita Bible and Kera, Mr. Naoki Matsumura. He took my picture and asked me various questions about why I wear lolita and how I feel in lolita. He also asked me a lot of the street snap questions, like what brand I was wearing (
I was wearing this :O), how old I am, where I'm from. I don't think I'll be in either magazine as the picture was taken with a digital camera but I do feel as if it's worth mentioning here.
I'm not just being a braggart jerk, though, because I think the fact that Mr. Matsumura was at Otakon scoping out the lolita scene is a
very good thing. This may mean good things for the American lolita scene if the editor-in-chief of our bible is seeing there's a market for lolita in the United States.
That tidbit having been shared, onto pictures of lolitas at Otakon!
( Friday pictures! )( Saturday pictures )I hosted a teaparty on Sunday. It was very low-key but we got our picture taken by Travel & Leisure Family Magazine. Don't ask me why! The photographer particularly liked redheads, apparently. o.O
