Otakon Lolita Pictures

This Saturday I popped on over to Otakon. Somehow I managed to miss the Nana Kitade lolita fashion show (I was helping run the go panel), the egl panel (they changed the time on me), and the 11:30 tea party (I thought it was at 11:00). But! Long story short, I made it to the Jfashion panel and snapped a few pics of the lolita models. And then somewhere along the way, I was ambushed by a gorilla.




I caught the end of the ball joint doll panel, but I don't see any lolitas. I walk back out, and realized that we've missed the lolita panel entirely. Made friends with other people who made the same mistake as me, such as Morrigan, who is possibly the cutest lolita I saw at Otakon. It's a really bad picture, but her wig suits her so well.

I met queenofdorks in her black sweets skirt and bow. I wanted a picture, but of course I forgot a friend took my camera. Oh, and while I'm name dropping, I ran into t_o_n_k_s at the food court at inner harbor wearing a lovely red plaid jumper.


I went wandering around the Artist Alley, and found this adorable kuro-loli selling her handmade plushies.


How could I possibly resist doing the cliched black and white thing?


I decided to stick around for the Jfashion panel. katabulous and oshidori were 2 of the presenters. (The girl in the middle is katabulous.) They did a really good job. Oshi just oozed savviness and charisma, and Kat answered questions well even though she was a little nervous. They did a little introduction on what each fashion are, lolita, decora, and ganguro. I actually learned something about ganguros. The ganguro presenter was well spoken and adorable to boot.


After that, they went to Q&A. Oshi ran around the room handing mikes to people.


Afterwards, the fashion show. First some cool cyber industrial girls, a fruits girl, and then lolitas. I wanted to see some ganguro girls but I guess it's not popular really. I only got pics of the lolitas.


These are all made by sakurafairy, who remembered my black bustle skirt. That made me happy. :)

John in punkama and a meta shirt. He was so sweet. I wish I got pictures of the rest of the New York gang. They were really fun to talk to.

I can honestly say that it was a lot of fun, even though my entire body is still sore from walking in the shoes that are just a tad too small. Plus it was really really really hot. It's good to note that the parasol is suprisingly functional.

True story: I believe I saw you twice with your sister in the dealers room but you looked incredibly annoyed/angry and I became preoccupied with customers so I wasn't able to say hello. Whatever the case, it probably still would have been an awkward exchange considering I don't know you and probably have only exchanged comments on a few of your egl entries.

Yeah, I saw the photos from the Kitade panel on their camera. I only met them around 5 or 6 when we went to the panel that got moved. XD

Not really gyarurori, just gals or ganguros in general. I saw 2 or 3 last year, but none this year. :)

my friends are usually the ganguro models for the jfash panel (i did it too two years back but i work nights so i couldn't model this year or last year) i don't know why they decided to skip this year...
