Metamorphose Skirt Sizing Question
Aug. 7th, 2006 02:57 pmHello everyone!
It's going to be my closest friend's birthday about three weeks, and I really would like to do something nice for her and get her a present.
She has the most wonderful personality, she doesn't care about brand names and looks at everything in a positive light, and I want to get her something special as a present to say 'thank you' for years of friendship. She's quite interested in lolita, but doesn't have very many pieces right now. I would like to get her a brand skirt just to give her a head start in lolita.
Anyways, onto my question: How much do Metamorphose's fully elasticated skirts stretch in the waist? Amanda has about a 33"-34.5" inch waist, and I know that a half elasticated waisted skirt probably would fit her, but would get to be uncomfortable over time. She has a 44" inch hip and bust measurement, but I know that she could probably get the skirt on over her head with no real problems.
If anyone has a fully elasticated waisted Metamorphose skirt, could they tell me how much they stretch up to?
Thank you so much, this means a lot to me.

However, I do not think that skirt will be so comfortable for someone over 34" waist. Then problem is that Meta don't really have a lot of these skirts anymore. You could try to email them, they are usuallt very helpful.
Another option is to use a shipping service to buy from another brand. Coronet sometimes has cute skirts with elasticated waists.
I would also reccomend using Fanplusfriend. They are of really good quality, fast and they are super helpful and you could order a custom skirt for your friend and have money left for a simple brand headdress or hair toggles! that way you can choose or alter a design and have it make to fit her comfortably. For example asking for a longer zip would mean it's easier to get over hips or bust.
I hope you find something nice.

Date: 2006-08-07 10:52 pm (UTC)Thank you for the idea, I've been looking into fanplusfriend for a while, but their shipping rates on Ebay have really turned me off. I heard that you could haggle down the shipping though.
Thanks again!
blue skirt from above link
Date: 2006-08-08 02:54 am (UTC)It doesn't stretch out as much as their gingham check ones from earlier, and the sewn in pannier is smaller too! It actually rubs on my thighs half the time
I can barely pull it on over my chest (40") as well.
As for fully elasticated skirts - they aren't meant for 32"+ waists
The elastic is tight and leaves marks on your body. Plus the skirt itself doesn't look as good, because the parts that are meant to be fluffy and cute are too stretched over the hips
