Hot Topic, the way I look at it, is like this big evil machine. Kind of like a meat grinder to a vegetarian. First, the vegetarian has a cyuuuuute little cow. The few other REAL cow fans have some too. Once one or two cows gets sucked into the mainstream meat grinder of doom, the little cow turns into a hamburger. Its NOTHING like having an actual cow, and EVERYONE loves hamburgers. Even if they don't.. they pretend to.

If that made any sense.. I love you all. o_o

I was at the mall today picking up the new Chobits DVD, and I saw that lola-goth t-shirt you folks have been talking about. I thought it was uber-cute, but then it hit me: HOT TOPIC HAS GRASPED THE EGL SUBCULTURE BY A LAYER OF CHIFFON AND PROBABLY WON'T LET GO!!!!

I don't want to see the wonderful world of loliness get put through all that americanizing and de-lolitizing until its totally twisted around, and everywhere you go you see "loli-posers" (gods, saying that word hurt ;_;) walking around with a big fluffy petticoats under their cheerleading outfits and abercrombie miniskirts claiming to be true lolis.

We, girls, are true lolis. We need to do all we can to keep it underground. With what little Americanization the scene has gone through, I already don't like it. They're taking the purity and innocence out of loliness, and turning it into some cheap, slutty fad.

Take the loli dress from Lip Service for example- its a darling design, but this is *not* how it needs to be portrayed. We try to make our outfits as cute and sweet and innocent and fluffy as possible, while they're taking what would have been an ideal loli dress, making the top so low cut you can practically see your waist, and making it so short everyone can see your panties x_x

I need to start a campaign or something. Who's with me?

Shosies!

Thanks to everyone who liked the bits and bobbles Apokryptein posted from what we worked on. This is the last of the four, more ega than egl, though the veil could go either way, I think. I might experiment with a dark kana style dress for ebay at some point.

Hello again!
I fixed my scanner and now have a picture of my skull and bloodstone choker up. The supply cost was about $25, as the stones are faceted, semi-precious and quite large. This is just one example of what I can make. This piece was inspired by Frida Kahlo's pre-Columbian jewelry. I can make cuter or more sleek pieces just as easily. If anyone is still interested or if you wish to see more scans of my work or beads I currently have, please let me know!

I'm going to say it now, okay?

NO. MORE. HOT. TOPIC. POSTS. PERIOD.

PLEASE.

I am THOROUGHLY ANNOYED with all the press this store is getting. GET OVER IT PEOPLE. I know. Most of you don't like it. But it's just CLOTHING. Please. No more Hot Topic posting.

I'm sorry to plug up the community. But please. No more arguing. That thread with the 52 comments? It's becoming a flaming board! People, come on! We're better than this! And I'm sorry if I'm wrong, and if this sounds bad, but...I noticed most of the posts that started this are from the new lolita members.

Please, respect others and their opinions. Not everybody likes Hot Topic and not everybody dislikes them.

Okay? Please, lets be done with this and give it a rest. Enough is enough.

Meh.

Sorry again to clutter the journal.

Waaaaah! I only made twenty of them, non-animated because I lost the program I had to do such things with T_T;

LJ-cut, for your convenience )

If there's anyone who doesn't see a design there that they like, let me know and I'll custom-make you one. The same goes for people with a certain photo or maybe some personalisation ("so-and-so is Lolier Than Thou" etc.) that they'd like. ^^ And on a happy note, while I was working on these in Photoshop, I got a phonecall from a graphic arts company I applied for a job with...they want me in for an interview tomorrow!!!! Hurray!

maryjanes being auctioned by an aquaintance.

a) what's the most you've ever spent on loli-goodness, vs. the greatest steal you ever got, vs. your favorite loli item?

b) cheapest place besides ebay steals to get short sleeve loli blouses on the net? i'm liking the exquisite lass ones but i'm broke as usual.

It's LOLITA. Not Lola. LOLITA. Jesas. XP

Anyways, here's what I wrote on Gaia about HT: My general view is that their quality is crappy and their prices are outrageous whatever they make. And no matter how hard they try, they won't get people to buy stuff like Baby or Angelic Pretty. They can do their loli-goth brand, but Lolita will remain Lolita in Japan, and probably won't be affected by Hot Topic's rip-off. Nor will the people who actually dress Lolita because they love the Japanese style. Loli-goth will probably just become a fad and pass eventually. Not many people have the guts to go hardcore.

As for Lolita elitists, there are some in every subculture. Just ignore them, and flick 'em off when they're not looking. It's not worth getting into kerfluffle about- they'll get their karmic results later in life when they have no friends. I personally am so happy to find other Lolitas I don't have time to act like a Loli-bitch- anyone I can find, I love. I agree that Lolitas have to stick together, and someone who buys the HT stuff and calls themself "Lolita" doesn't really get the point of the fashion, but being rude from either side of the camp (elitist or not) is just unacceptable. Remember the Lolita code- always polite, always humble, even in the faces of those who consider themselves "Lolier than Thou."

So yeah. Shaf (my loli friend) and I were actually talking about having a Goth Loli gathering.

We're planning ahead of time. I will be inviting any loli's who are willing to come, nor cal or not (the black lolita mailing list... sorry for those who read this post twice). and the EGL Livejournal community.

date: August 16, 2003
where: Japantown in San Francisco
time: not sure yet, but the whole day. haven't planned out the events yet.

Everyone is welcome to go! RSVP's would be prefered, just so we can keep track of how many people are going. If you are interested in going please send me an email at: yukinezumi@japanimation.com

please let me know of your name, and if you are going to bring any guests and friends. ^.^

i have 12 years of sewing experience and would love to help in any way i can.
please feel free to post pics of things you made or things you like or pretty much whatever you want, but if it is like 50 million miles long please lj cut it.
[identity profile] goth-girlie.livejournal.com
Yeah.. well, the post down there with 60+ comments is all my doing. If I would have known it would have caused such chaos among you guys I would have kept my pretty little mouth shut. -.- From now on, no opinions from the D-chan.

Any hope we can start things off on the right foot? I didn't mean to make all you people mad, I was just venting.

*offers coffin-shaped brownies and yummy tea*
[identity profile] number25.livejournal.com
Some of you guys need to calm the hell down. Gothic Lolita is not a religion or a political party. it is fashion. It doesn't have to do with personality. There is no political aspect to it like there is with punk. AT ALL. Don't take yourself so seriously. It's aggravating.

Plus, some of you guys seem to be liking lolita just because it's underground. And I ask you this; What makes you any different from people who only like things because it's mainstream? Liking something because no-one knows about it and liking something because everybody knows about it. That's complete and utter crap.

Okay thank you bye.
