It's LOLITA. Not Lola. LOLITA. Jesas. XP
Anyways, here's what I wrote on Gaia about HT: My general view is that their quality is crappy and their prices are outrageous whatever they make. And no matter how hard they try, they won't get people to buy stuff like Baby or Angelic Pretty. They can do their loli-goth brand, but Lolita will remain Lolita in Japan, and probably won't be affected by Hot Topic's rip-off. Nor will the people who actually dress Lolita because they love the Japanese style. Loli-goth will probably just become a fad and pass eventually. Not many people have the guts to go hardcore.
As for Lolita elitists, there are some in every subculture. Just ignore them, and flick 'em off when they're not looking. It's not worth getting into kerfluffle about- they'll get their karmic results later in life when they have no friends. I personally am so happy to find other Lolitas I don't have time to act like a Loli-bitch- anyone I can find, I love. I agree that Lolitas have to stick together, and someone who buys the HT stuff and calls themself "Lolita" doesn't really get the point of the fashion, but being rude from either side of the camp (elitist or not) is just unacceptable. Remember the Lolita code- always polite, always humble, even in the faces of those who consider themselves "Lolier than Thou."
