The Canon 200mm F1.8 is *truly* a gem... at F1.8, the photos are extremely sharp, and the bokeh is superb. *_* If only it weren't so darn heavy..... ;_;

Feb. 9th, 2008 12:56 amToday I went and picked up the first batch of reservations for AP's Macaroon series, as well as the Gingerbread House skirt I'd reserved from Meta, and a sweets print jsk from IW for a customer. As you can see, these are all sweets/candy prints! I spent over $1000, and I thought the spread was pretty cool when I got home, so I took a couple snaps!

( What's in those bags? )
Picture request!
Feb. 9th, 2008 10:28 amI'm trying to figure out which to buy. It would be very helpful!
Thank you.

Feb. 9th, 2008 10:54 amParents + Loli =
Feb. 9th, 2008 11:25 amI 'got into' Lolita fashion a while ago, nearly a year ago now, and decided that considering the expenses of the clothes, I would wait until my birthday/Christmas (which are two days apart) to ask for them- both to make sure I really liked them and to hopefully make my parents a little more generous (I am still of an age -14- where all monetary matters are controlled by my parents).
When I first told them about Lolita, their response was at first the typical 'We don't like the sound of this, it sounds sexualised, show us the clothes and we'll see'. I showed them, and their next reaction?
'It looks daft'.
Not 'It's too expensive' or 'I'm not sure about you ordering from Japan', but 'It looks daft'.
(Before anyone asks, I showed them Meta, ITS and BTSSB).
So, anyone else had this problem and/or know how to get around it? I'm currently going for sewing my own clothes, to be honest...
Free AP anyone?

Entertaining recommentations!
Feb. 9th, 2008 12:53 pmI came to think of a few stuff I think some of you might be interested in!
First, I was a bit shocked that nobody has mentioned Lady Lovely Locks! I watched it when I was about seven, and think it was something that drove me toward lolita. I still have two old VHS left :D There are a few episodes on youtube.com ! She is the ULTIMATE lolita! (Although her skirts are maybe a bit too long LOL) My favourite character is of course Duchess Raven Waves. Gotta love her voice.
Second, I watched a few animes when I was a kid too. One was the ooold, old version of Sarah Crew (The little princess) and another was one that I can't remember the name of (a girl who gets a doll as a gift but it's made of vax and melts in the sun? Her mom dies and her new mom is really mean...) however, it was really fun. At least what I remember from watching it about ten years ago XDDDD
Third, was a book I just finished reading yesterday! Although not clearly lolita, it's about four girls in the Victorian era of England in a boarding school to become fine ladies. Yeah, right. They realize they have the power to create illusions. So they have a little fun with it. It's called A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. I'm hoping for a sequel! It was very, very entertaining.
If any of you ladies have something to recommend, I'd be very happy!
Hair styles
Feb. 9th, 2008 02:00 pmCan one do a loli hair style (something cute, fashionable, in any way good!) if one does NOT have bangs? I mostly see loli girls with bangs and it's very cute, but I do not have and do not want bangs myself. Does anyone without bangs want to show me their look and help me see if I could pull it off too?
Thanks!
I'm really obsessed with cupcakes and sweet things in general,so I've decided to draw some designs inspired by yummy sweets <3
( Chocolat and vanilla cupcake! )
Any pictures of this?

Does anyone have pictures of themselves/someone modeling this dress from Putumayo? Any of the colours is fine, I'd just like to see it being worn.

Feb. 9th, 2008 07:07 pmI saved this topic to memories:
http://community.livejournal.com/egl/10285109.html
Only to be dissapointed that my reason for saving it isn't showing up anymore and I came too late to view it ;__;
So does anyone happen to have the issue this timeline was printed in? If so, would it be too much trouble to ask you to scan it for me? If not, anyone know where I can find the issue of the Gothic & Lolita Bible that contains this Baby timeline? I have no clue which issue it's in even and it's not 26 as the OP suggested in that topic. (I have issue 26)
Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you <3 !

Not another customs question...
Feb. 9th, 2008 08:06 pmI know these show up here a lot, so i'm sorry to post something so dull, but as far as my searching/checking memories tells me, this hasn't been answered before.
Basically I have a big, big order from celga that's currently waiting to be shipped. Most of the items are bought second hand from auction sites and don't have price tags on them. I'd really like to mark down the value to avoid getting hit be customs *again*, but i'm worried they'll catch the parcel and make me pay even more for lying about the value. I've heard that they can do that. So, I want to know whether customs can only charge you extra if the items are tagged as being more expensive than the declared value, or if they can make their own assessment based on what the items look like they are worth.
Also, what is generally a safe percentage to mark down a package by, 50%, 75%, 25%?
I'm in the UK so it's potentially a lot of money at stake and I would really like to give myself the best possible chance
of avoiding customs fees.
Thanks in advance
Remember my polkadots question?
Feb. 9th, 2008 08:19 pmWhere to buy EGA?
Feb. 9th, 2008 08:24 pmPicture request e_e
Feb. 9th, 2008 09:08 pmI've just come to realize I have two of the same blouse: black and white.
It is the BtSSB Princess Blouse with detachable sleeves.
Since my wardrobe is slowly transitioning to more dark colors, I was thinking about selling off the white blouse but if I do this, would coordinating the black blouse with a Red Tartan dress with white lace look odd?
So I am requesting pictures of a black blouse being coordinated with ANY color dress (any color tartan/plaid too!) with white lace on it.
Thanks to anyone who can help =3

Pattern Review
Feb. 9th, 2008 11:14 pmI noticed a lot of posts about finding patterns; I know it's hard to find decent lolita-esque patterns in English, and I thought I'd try helping out. I only have two at the moment, but that's better than nothing, right? And maybe looking at my mistakes will stop one of you from making the same one!
So there you go. I hope this was able to help!
EDIT:
In The Starlight's new JSK
Feb. 9th, 2008 11:37 pmI was curious to see if anyone could provide pictures of it in colors other than the blackXblack version that is shown on the website. :o
