Hello, lovely lolitas.

Next week's plan : buy a black bedsheet at Wal-Mart, and make myself a circle skirt as per these instructions.
Does anyone have any suggestions, corrections, or additions to make to those instructions? If I want it to be no more than about 18" long and to be about 28" at the waist, do you think 4 yards of lace would be enough to trim the bottom?
Oh, and I have a purple sheet that's just laying around (never made it onto my bed)... anyone want a purple circle skirt? ^_^

^_^ Ah. Bedsheets work miracles if you don't have a fabric store nearby. They're very useful and very comfortable. Easy to get too. I used navy blue Ralph Lauren bedsheets for an American McGee's Alice costume since the only fabric store close to me was in Manhattan. Lol. Bedsheets are a good way to go.

See, I have plenty of fabric stores nearby, but hardly any of them have 60" wide black broadcloth for some reason, and when they do, it's this yucky rough stuff that's $5 a yard. >_< You'd think basic ok quality broadcloth in a basic color would be widely available, but noooo..
But, as for using the sheets, I know that these sheets are decent quality (I have some from this brand on my bed after all!), and hey, they're $3! Can't go wrong there.

It totally blows. There are barely any fabric stores around anymore and the ones that are still around sometimes don't have what you're looking for. I'm in need of black knit jersey for my Yumiko costume right now and I have to make do with what I have. Blech. XP I hope the sheets work out well for you and I can't to see the end result! ::HUG:: Good luck!
