Feb. 16th, 2004 07:16 pmHi everyone. I've been commenting in this community for a long time but I think this is my first time making a post...
I made a little hat based on the pattern in "Gothloli vol. 1". (the red book) Obviously my choice of fabric and decorations is different but it's basically the same hat.

The only change I made to the pattern was the size of the interfacing. The book says to make the interfacing the same size as the fabric pieces and sew through all the layers, but I wanted the corners on my hat to have a crisper look than the book's pictured hat so I cut the interfacing just inside the seam lines. The fabric is black rose-pattern jacquard. The blue ruffle was a pre-ruffled ribbon (double-sided) that I folded in half. It's not actually as sparkly IRL as when it's photographed with a flash... (>_<;) I added a strip of black braid to the brim, a little black rose, and 2 kinds of feathers.

![]() | I was going for a feeling similar to the Carina e Arlequin (at LaForet) hats I've seen recently. Their goth/loli hats and headdresses are much more extravagant than the usual styles, with details like braid along the edges, feathers, lace overlays, grommeted lace-up sections, and even little mice (yes, real dead ones) on some of the items. But as they start at 15,000 yen for a little circle headdress I thought perhaps I should try making my own hat. ^^ This is the hat being worn by me yesterday. In case anyone's interested in the rest of the outfit, the shirt and over-knee socks are from Moi-meme-Moitie, the corset skirt is from Excentrique, the shoes are Yosuke. |

Date: 2004-02-17 02:49 am (UTC)Did you make it with only fabric and interfacing, or is there cardboard or something for support?
Re:
Date: 2004-02-17 06:50 am (UTC)It's just fabric and fusible interfacing. The fabric is really lightweight (it's like blouse material) but the interfacing is very very stiff. It's much heavier than normal clothing interfacing.

Re:
Date: 2004-02-17 07:48 am (UTC)You noticed! ^_^ I was actually on my way to a Lareine event. ^^ Usually I cosplay Kamijo but decided not to that time because it was a special fan club Valentine Party. It's weird to be dressed up as the person to whom you're giving chocolate. ^^;
thank you all!
