shopping in Shinjuku
Sep. 9th, 2006 11:16 pmhello there, a friend of mine is in japan right and offered to pick me up something, he is intreed by the idea of Lolita shop hunting and buying stuff for me (lucky me!!!) I've been to japan a few times myself and can give him some info by memory, i've also looked at the Sumire shopping guid and been able to figure out the laforet website to find which stores are in the b1.5 level.
but i'm wondering about shinjuku. i remember that when i was there i always went to MaruiOne building, but i heard that it closed down and the stores all moved? is that right?
is there any guids or any body who can give me info on where baby and MMM and those stores went? I'm trying to figure out the brand websites, but my very limited japanese and babelfish can only go so far...
any help would rock very hard.
thanks to anybody and everybody

acording to wiki
"Currently the commercial center of the Gothic Lolita subculture is the Marui Young department store in Shinjuku, after its predecessor Marui One closed at the end of August 2004. This large youth-fashion oriented department store has 4 floors entirely devoted to Gothloli and related fashions."
so i'm trying to find a shop list, or website (japanese or english) that have info on what stores are in the young building.. and.. umm.. how to get their from the train station~

Date: 2006-09-10 06:38 am (UTC)Maybe you're confused? That building was monstrous and there were always customers. It was always full in fact. I don't see why they would just shut down. It should still be right close by to the Shinjuku station.

Date: 2006-09-10 06:44 am (UTC)...um.
after its predecessor Marui One closed at the end of August 2004. The store you want is Marui Young, which is still there, which took over for Marui One, apparently. I was in Tokyo in 2005 and it was still very much there. Marui Young, with the gothic lolita shops, that is.

Date: 2006-09-10 06:45 am (UTC)I think I can help out. The MaruJuku building is definitely open. You want to go to the Shinjuku Station and look around. The building itself is call OIOne/OIYoung, and the EGL and main brand stuffs are all on the 5th Floor up. It's East of the Shinjuku station, on the Shinjuku Dori. It's hard to fine, and easily confused with the other O1O brand buildings. So be sure to have him ask around. Generally there are girls dressed up in goth loli to help out.
They have Baby, Meta, MMM, Algokins, sexpot, a+lidel, MA, angelic pretty, Heart E, kera, etc. Petty much everything. Closet Child isn't there though.
The Harajuku Laforet store does not have a Baby store, it is an Alice and the Pirates Store, but has Baby products in it. I don't think I saw MMM there either, but I could be wrong.
Hope that helps!
Oh, the # in Japan is:
03 (3354) 0101
0101 site: www.0101.co.jp
www.0101.co.jp/onejuku <- that's the name on the street.

Date: 2006-09-10 06:51 am (UTC)01Young is in a small side street. It is east of the main Shinjuku station. It's on the Shinjuku Dori (between the Yasukuni Dori and the Koushu Daido) and another street which they don't mention on the teeny map. BUT! If your friend is on Shinjuku Dori and sees the Meiji Dori then he has gone too far. If you find the OICity, you're too far.
If you are lost, the best thing to do is ask for directions. A simple: "Marujuku wa doko desu ka?" will do the trick. Again, try to ask someone dressed in the fashion, as they would know best.
if you nee more help, I will try to can in the information from my floor guide later, I'm currently between places.

Date: 2006-09-10 08:24 am (UTC)- from Shinjuku station, exit towards Kabuki-Cho. once on ground level, you should be facing Studio Alta (it has a big tv screen and a HUGE JCB card billboard)
- cross the road right infront of you, and with Studio Alta on your left, walk straight down the road. you'd pass by alot of shops, and a Kinokuniya on your left.
- now, it's rather difficult to find the actual OIONE entrance, as it is facing a small side road. instead, get your friend to look out for a OIYOUNG entrance on his left. it should have alot of young ladies clothes and stuff, all pink and fluffy.
- OIONE is on level 5-8, so enter from the OIYOUNG entrance, and use the escalators to head upstairs.
hope this helps! :)
