Shoes-es.

I work under the assumption that I will have a black dress from someone at somepoint. So I power forward with my other necessities.

I bought these shoes at Marshalls the other day for $10 (and convinced my boyfriend it was a good deal) but I'm not sure they'd look right. In my pristine illusion of how I want to look I'd have platform shoes, and these aren't platforms. However, they are shaped cutely and I love them either way, but I'm looking for second (and beyond) opinions. ^^

I'm asking because I've yet to paint these things black. I'll be hand painting them, which is alot of effort because I'm OCD with paint. So I'm making sure it's worth it..

They're such a useless colour. XD Please ignore their glaring bronze-ness!

^ My dog's a camwhore, sorry. ^^;; I apologise for the crappy lighting as well. My camera sucks. I don't complain 'cause I got it free though..

^ A detail shot.

^ Noo. I don't intend to wear either those socks with the shoes in this colour ever. XD I only have this picture to show them from above as well as how they look on a human foot.

If these aren't going to look right is there anywhere I CAN find some nice platforms for a reasonable price (I can't afford the Rocking Horses yet, obviously)? I've only found a pair at Hot Topic for $22, but even those aren't perfect.

BTW, Thanks everyone for all your advice. It's so helpful to a total NOOB like myself. ^^;

Careful painting those things. I've only ever painted a pair of shoes once, and it was for cosplay. Make sure you use a matte primer/base coat, and then several coats of paint that is intended for fabrics. If you use acrylic, it will crack and flake off and look gross after just one wear. T-T

So far as inexpensive shoes -- Payless has inexpensive shoes that you wouldn't have to paint. I'm not sure about platforms, but to be honest, the heel on those shoes -- while cute -- isn't really popular in the lolita style (from what I've seen). You might also consider just saving up and buying a pair from Esther Ho or someone else in Hong Kong, where the shoes won't be so expensive.

Just an idea. :)

The heel isn't "not right", it actually looks fine and would go well with an elegant dress... Sometimes in lolita you have to be creative. ^_~ Platforms don't look nice all the time, they can be too bulky for some outfits.

I've painted shoes for cosplay too, and I find that a good polish in the color you want (and I assume you're talking black or white) can dye the shoe. I bleached leather once and that wasn't so pretty, so don't do that.

Demonia had Dolly-01 style shoes, and they are cute platforms. I think they are the only decent style for lolita they have. *ahem* I have a pair and they are adorble but their paint sucks and I plan to repaint in a matte colour.

If you repaint those bronze shoes use something that is specific for shoes. I use "meltonian colour change". I assume it is available overseas too. Great stuff. Your shoes look good for a more casual style I suppose.

Those shoes are pretty and elegant and would suit for example classic lolita style in the vein of Victorian Maiden. I also love the colour, but of course if you have nothing to match them to you may have to paint them.

Look for shoe paint or leather paint. That paint is made to stretch ad bend and stuffs.

Ahh, no, don't paint those pretty shoes! Better to just buy pretty black shoes than ruin such a nice copper color you could wear outside of lolita... Payless has a decent selection of inexpensive loliable black shoes right now, and it's definitely not the only place you can check. It's really not that hard to find cute black shoes for less, you don't need to go overboard painting those pretties.

I just got some shoes that are kind of similar to this style, but with platform heels. They're called Twinky by LEI, and you can see them here (http://www.rogansshoes.com/Store.aspx?categoryId=27&groups=c27~pg-3-219&productId=3415).

Eventually I want to get some true platforms too (meaning where the platform is also under the ball of the foot, not just the heel) but for me right now these will do nicely. :)
