hello~

does anyone have instructions/tutorials/tips for attaching a little petticoat to the inside a skirt? i'm making a casual skirt and i want it to have just a bit of poof, but not too much, and it's so hot outside that i don't think i could handle wearing a petticoat AND a skirt anyway.

thanks in advance! ♥

As far as I can tell, it mostly involves attatching the layers to a single waistband. Demode (http://demode.tweedlebop.com/crinoline.html) has something akin to what you're looking for- just do less layers.

Oh I'm making skirts like that too! ^___^

I haven't done this yet, but here's what I plan on doing. Basically it's just adding a waistband-less skirt of tulle and lining under the regular skirt ^__^.

The skirts I make are basically rectangles that are gathered at the waistband after I insert elastic. So this is all done before the elastic is put in ^^. First I sew on a layer of tulle or netting on the underside of the skirt just below the waistband, an inch or so shorter than the length of the actual skirt so it doesn't show. Since that stuff is itchy I'd then sew a layer of lining over the tulle also under the waistband, maybe a little longer than the netting just to be safe =^^=.

Have fun and good luck! :D

Oh I forgot to say, the lining and netting are sewn to the skirt only under the waistband, the rest hangs loose ^^. And I don't think netting or tulle needs to be hemmed ^^.

I think that adds a subtle enough poof, but since I haven't tried it yet I'm not entirely sure ^__^. If it's too subtle you could always add more layers of tulle~ :D.

Usually one pleated or gather layer is suffice. It is always safer to hem it, plus it does add a little to the volume, if you think about it.
