Cotton Maryjanes?!

Okay, see, I'm at the moment the epitome of loli on a budget, meaning I can't even afford $30 shoes because of the $10 shipping, unless I go out shopping here in the city (in which case haha, $30 shoes are but a funny dream). What I'm looking for is red shoes—simple red shoes that aren't patent, stiletto'd, peeptoe/open toe, glittery, pointy or squaretoed, or downright ugly. I just browsed through 1400 results on ebay last night to no avail; every shoe I ran across fit at least one of the above adjectives.
See, I do have a pair of red shoes. They were $3 at the discount store down the street, and they're sturdy formed cotton with a nice rubber sole. But the bastards bled all over my only pair of white socks, which I was only just barely able to save (and even so I'm afraid they've been rendered unwearable with open-side shoes), and I should have expected as much from red cotton, but...
So, here's my question(s). Do you know where I could find cheapo red shoes (read: $20 shipped or less) that won't bleed? Or better yet, do you have a solution to my bleeding shoe problem? I mean, would tossing them in the wash do anything?
EDIT: I'm stupid. I forgot to mention two important things: a) I can't do big heels anymore thanks to doctor's orders (or at least I oughn't buy any more), and b) these are for a redxwhite sweet lolita outfit. D:

Date: 2006-06-08 12:20 pm (UTC)I'd keep checking Trash&Vaudeville and their super amazing shoe sales... eventually they'll have red MJ's... I hope ;_;
I got a pair off ebay for 5 bucks, but they're a sz 10 and don't fit me! I'm gonna try to stretch them though, since they're leather.
As for the shoes you already have, wash them with salt (I think it's 1-3 tbsps or something). Salt makes most dyes quit bleeding.

if the shippings too much i think it's by weight and they have those shoes in a rainbow of colours. maybe you could do a group order coz they don't look heavy at all

Date: 2006-06-08 02:36 pm (UTC)I have at least 10 pairs of canvas Mary Janes (my feet are a size 4-4 1/2 so I buy shoes in the children's section) and they all tend to bleed when you sweat. If you wear them for a while with normal socks eventually they stop bleeding! As for other alternative shoes, but white or cream coloured satin shoes and dye them. Dis count shoe stores, like Payless, sell $15-$20 satin shoes for weddings. They have lots of pretty little things that you could easily attach ribbons to! Because it's Satin just use fabric dye and they'll turn out nicely.
Hope that helps.

Date: 2006-06-08 03:37 pm (UTC)I'm not sure about the quality of the shoes, but I was browsing some online shops and saw them. It may be best just to do the sealer thing though. It may be cheaper too! *curses Otakon*
