Guys! I'm having a crisis!

I made a rather rash and hasty buying decision and ordered this jumperskirt in blue from the BTSSB site. Now, I'm a fatty, and as we all well know fatty + shirring= ultimate sadness. (I'm not trying to be inflammatory nor self-deprecatory, just stating some facts, so bear with me.)

So I have a couple questions.
1. I'm asking this point blank: Am I going to kill this dress? *A* You can say, "Yes, you're gonna kill this dress" and I won't consider it trolling. The mods might, but I am READY FOR TRUTH.
2. Will wearing a blouse that fits me well under it prevent me from killing this dress? Or wearing a blouse over it and wearing it like a skirt since I bought it for the print, anyway?

Maybe you can't really tell until I receive it and show you what I look like in it, but if you guys can already tell that there's no way I could wear this JSK or save it by wearing a blouse, I might as well start doing pre-orders for it. x.x

What I really want to know, I guess, is if a blouse will prevent the double-boobage (I'm only a b cup, anyhow x.x) and "Aghhhh dress is dead!" look.

Thanks!

I think shirring can look good on "fattys." I've seen it done before...it just depends on how much it'll stretch. There should be a couple inches available for shirring to look good.

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll look fine, and if not, just resell it...it all depends on the person and the jumper.

You are supersuper cute!

:)

you can wear the dress with a cute cutsew hoodie ^^; (because with a blouse.. unless it is really loose you may be able to see the dress underneath it :x)

good luck! :)

I want!!! I think as long as your measurements are below the max it should be fine. You should kill the dress. I think I might need that dress.

LOL, I almost did the exact thing with the exact same dress, but decided against it. I lost weight but not that much 8D
Wear it like a skirt with something over it, or spend lots of money to get the shirring taken out and princess seams put in. A well-fitted jsk, like the second photo, will look good on you-- a shirring jsk that is stretched out to the max will give you multiple boobs and put you on that list with the "hay lookit my brand jsk that i shoved myself into" girls (even though I know you bought the dress for the cute print).

No, I'm not trolling you. [livejournal.com profile] vkzombie and I were talking about how awesome you were earlier, actually, and I was considering adding you. XD

I think it really depends on your figure. Some larger girls have relatively smooth lines, regardless of their size, and I think these girls look best in shirring. Girls who gather their fat in rolls don't look as good in shirred pieces. From your two pictures, you look like you have smooth lines, and I think the shirring will be just fine. If you're wearing anything under them (like a corset or a camisole) I'd suggest wearing it under the new dress as well.

oh, it looks like there's corset-style lacing in the back...
i dont' know how* helpful it would be, but i'm guessing it could be very good.
it says the size is totally free, which is not all that helpful, but don't they normally stretch up to about 40"?
so if the smocked part looks funny, at least it looks like you might be able to have somebody alter it to add more fabric for the modesty panel in the back.
its very cute, though.
and those dresses by traumerei are totally cute. i want one like the second one! :)
best of luck.
xx

You are lovely! ^^ Really cuuute. *_* You look like a porcelain doll..

I'm not sure. You are chubby, but really fat at all, so I don't see a problem. Honestly, I never liked shirring that much.. The only thing I noticed is that it draws attention to the chest a lot, but I never noticed that it made people look bigger.

I think you could pull off the dress!

Oh, and I think wearing a blouse underneath would definitely make it look better.

I think that dress will look adorable on you! Like everyone else has been saying, as long as your measurements are below the max, I think you'll be fine.

What I really want to know, I guess, is if a blouse will prevent the double-boobage (I'm only a b cup, anyhow x.x) and "Aghhhh dress is dead!" look.

I'm not sure if wearing a blouse under it would work, since a blouse is rather soft~~ maybe if you wore stiff undergarments, though? I haven't tried it myself (I don't own any shirred dresses), but maybe if you wore a bra with stiffer cups (not soft sports bras), then the shirring would have a harder time squeezing your body so much. That might be able to prevent or at least reduce the "double-boobage" effect.

Btw, you're one of the cutest/most well coordinated lolitas I've ever seen in this community. :D

Hey, I'm in the "I'm a big loli ^^" club and I have some shirring dresses that look good on me. The clue is to use a fitted sports bra and a blouse under them and I'm sure you'll look gorgeous on it *^^*

PS: You look beautiful on the first pic, you won't kill that dress! :D

Oh wow, that's the dress I was planning to have made by someone (because not only is BtSSB expensive and plus I have to pay for shipping and custom charges....) but I'm sure it would look fine on you *nod* Love the dress though!

maybe. But you could always wear a cute little sweater or something OVER it, and then it wouldn't matter at all.
The bad part I've noticed about shirring and boobs, is that it always wants to be super stretched in front, and not stretch much from the back if it doesn't have to, which makes me sad.
I need to find a nice way to squish my boobs down alot more for cosplay while I'm thinking about it.

Hmm. It may stretch too much, I'm afraid to say. But it's hard to tell with just pictures.

As for the boob thing, I work at Frederick's of Hollywood, and you can't tell bra sizes from pictures. Ever. If you have a Frederick's near you, I would suggest getting measured there, but ask for a manager to do so. I always use four measurement methods to measure someone, and I always fit someone in our different bra styles, because just like clothing - cuts will vary what size you wear.

Most people don't know how you determine a bra size. It has nothing to do with how "big" your breasts are. Your breasts may be the same size as someone who is a 34D, but if you are a 38 around, you may be a B. Cup size is determined by how much your breast "sticks out" from your around measurement more than anything - if it's 1", it's an A, 2" B, 3"C, and so on. Of course, you factor in how wide your breasts are, too. That's why I take four measurements to get the best fit. One above the breasts, one below, one around and then from the nipple to the underbust.

Well, I just made that seem complicated. >.

I have no idea on the blouse.

But, you are extremely cute. I love the second picture best, the hair and dress flatter you well.

I'm gonna second some others and say going into a good professional place for a bra measurment is a good idea. There are bras made for minimizing the bust and such, as well.

I think the shirring will look... odd. Not like fatty-fatty bad, but just weird
If you add blouse underneath, it'd overstretch even more ;_;
Lovely cardigan or blouse over it would be good tho

Hi! I must say I love that dress in blue. ^^ If you decide you don't want it I'm interested! (Althoug it's expensive!)

I think you might look good in it. ^^ If you tried to draw attention to waist area, maybe wear a corset under the dress? And put a ribbon around your waist? Anyway, I hope you will get the dress soon and let everybody know how it looks! ^^

I think it will look okay, really, mostly 'cause you seem to have a good sense for making an outfit look good, and that's IMHO more important then the size you wear. Sure, if you was to pair the dress with sneakers and some horrible lace-overkill headdress that would be bad, but i think you'll really pul it of well.

Cuppage doesn't really mean that much when you are talking about fitting into shirring. (I'm a B cup..... a 30/32B with a 31/32 inch bust). I would say that no one can really tell you if you are going to kill the dress with out seeing it on your. What you need to do is put it on, find your most brutally honest friend, and ask them, are my boobs giving birth?

Date: 2006-05-14 11:28 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] maudmay.livejournal.com
as long as the waist is on your waist, it should be ok, and the shirring is still slightly shirred.

i say wait until the dress comes, then post a picture of it and ask. =)
