A Must See Lolita Destination: Biltmore
May. 13th, 2006 12:14 pmI present to all those who have never heard of this, the Biltmore Estate. This home which is located in Ashville, North Carolina was the number one destination when my family and I stayed there for a week.
The Biltmore Estate was 125,000 acres of forest, fields and land but after the death of mister George Washington Vanderbulit (The master of the house) his wife sold much of it to the government and it now stands at 8,000 acres of land.
On the remaining 8,000 acres, one will find a winery and vinyard where Mr. Vanderbilt brewed and sold his own wine, a stable or two (One of the stables, the main stable where riding horses, show horses and such were keapt. That stable has been transformed into a resturaunt where famalies are actually seated in booths that have been placed in the individual stalls. The other stable stands a mile or so from the house and was used for working horses). One will also find a rose garden, a green house, a fish pond, and the most lavish house ever seen by human eyes. The home itself is what I think everyone in this community should take a trip to see and bring a cell phone with a camera. No photography is allowed inside but don't think I let that rule apply to me.
(Sort of image heavy... well 10 pictures isn't bad at all.)

The Biltmore Mansion
This home was built in the 1880's and is a lolita destination if I have ever experianced one before.

The Gardens: (A picture from the site)

This picture only depicts a small section where parties were often heald.

A small picture I know, the flowers in the spring time!
NOW INSIDE!!!
The entire inside of the house has been keapt exactly how it was in the 18 and 1900's. All the origional furnishings and linons as well as bedrooms, dining rooms, libraries, maids rooms and bathrooms (which there were 148 of those) have all been preserved and sand as if the mades have just finished cleaning everything.

The dining room that seats 64 people, holds 3 fireplaces and the largest pipe organ I have ever seen! The organ goes from floo to cieling and you can see just how high that from the above photo.
(My picture is this one)

Then there are the bedrooms!! So pretty! I wanted to lay on every bed and open every drawer!

I couldn't find any more images of the bedrooms but each one had a style on it based on who stayed in that room when they visited. If I am correct, that room belonged to the mistress of the house, Elizabeth Vanderbilt.
Unfortunately, my mother would not allow me to wear my innocent world dress or I would have pictures everywhere in there. I was told once by the people not to take photos even after I was cought and I smiled and said "Oh, ok, I won't do that anymore."
The outcome:

My sister has the other pictures. I hope you all enjoyed and I hope EVERYONE gets a chance to visit this place! It's like falling into the 1800's. All the tourists around you are listening to the headphones that they give out but Megan and I ran around them and pretended like they weren't there.

I saw an add for it today on a billboard. There was an image of the estate and it said "The castle without the sand."
