Headdress and Coat Coordination question

Hey everyone!

I'm having a bit of a headache with coordinating my new coat with some outfits. I bought it in cream because that goes with tons of items in my wardrobe, and I'm instantly attracted to the color.

Anyways, I don't think that this question has been asked in a while, and if It has, I'm sorry! My question is that when you're wearing a colored dress under a natural colored coat, what type of headdress do you wear? I finally bought myself this angelic pretty headdress that I had been eyeing for a while to go with my pink AP dress. For some reason it kind of bothers me that it doesn't look right when I'm wearing a cream coat with a pink and white headdress.  

Should I get over it, and have it match the dress for when I take off the coat? Or should I carry around two headpieces and switch when I'm wearing the dress without the coat.

Excuse the bad picture. I'm not really sure how confident I am posting big pictures on the community due to recent drama. I'm using some sort of a weird man-stance here :P


A liiiittle more detailed in showing the contrast between the pink and the white. I'm only wearing the pannier that is attached to my AP dress, so it's really flat in this picture.

So, what do you think? Should I just wear a cream headdress?

The pink is too bright I think with the coat. I think a lighter color would look better. :o

The only thing is that the headdress is matched perfectly to my dress, same fabric and all, and if I chose a lighter pink, it wouldn't match the dress nor the coat and I think I'd be in a worse condition than I started from.

I think it looks great! The pink and the cream seem to be the same tone so it balances each other quite well. I wouldn't worry about posting larger pictures, you look lovely and if anyone says otherwise, they don't know what they're talking about.

Thanks so much, I have a few issues with myself so I'm not confident at all, but that made me feel quite a bit better.

How can you not be confident if you were gothic lolita?! I myself can only wear casual punk loli since it's not far off from my usualy goth garb... I love egl, but its much too dressy/frilly for me!

so you are wearing your pink matching dress underneath? if you want to wear the pinkxwhite headdress why not just wear the dress and the coat and leave the coat unbuttoned so that the pink dress peaks out? other wise IMO I think the pink is a bit garish with the coat and Id just stick with the offwhite headdress with the coat...

i think it looks fine ^^ if it really bothers you, you could leave the last few buttons of the coat undone so the dress peeks out, i think that would look cute too.

Personally, I like it how it is. I think it looks more than fine. I'd opt for the pink.

My goodness, that coat is lovely!

I like the pink with the coat, really. At least in these pictures, I can't even tell that there is white on the headdress at all... but even so, if it really bothers you, you should probably let your dress peek out like some of the others have suggested.

Thanks, I just love the coat. Too bad it's spring now!

My only problem is that when the coat is unbuttoned, it tends to look a little droopy and loses it's 'lolita-shape'. Perhaps if the dress wasn't so short, then it would be great.

I don't know, the coat just isn't that shape.

I think I love it so much because I had one very much like it when I was little ~ like 6 or so. My mom wouldn't ever let me wear it, because it was white. ::sigh::

Another thought~ maybe you could make wrist cuffs to match. (In the winter, you should wear pink gloves, I think, but for the spring that's not really practical.) That way you could have pink without having to open the coat!

I don't know, never mind my prattle. I'm off in la la land dreaming about when I was 6... ^___^

I agree with everyone else, the headdress looks fine.

You can even tie in the pinks with your makeup, if you wear it. Pink eyeshadow with white eyeliner at the inside corners of your eyes, pink blush and a nice, subtle pink lipgloss. Your face looks quite angular in the second picture, and I think you could pull off the Victorian doll look quite spectacularly.

I handn't thought of the idea to wear makeup that matches. I'm on break so I've been so lazy that I haven't put on any makeup at all all week. I'm about to go try that, thanks again!

Your coat should match your dress, which should mean your headress maches your coat. While the white is dominating it isn't clashing, so unless you intend to spend more time with the coat on than off you should stick with that headpiece. An option would to get a handbag that matches the headress and basically match your accessories that overlay in a way that it will make the coat less dominating, but will match the dress.

Since you chose a contrasting coat there realy isn't a lot you can do. Any headress you use is going to stand out as being a small, diffrently colored from either your dress or you coat to some degree.

At least your coat isn't black like mine is. It makes it really annoying when it's VERY cold and I really want to wear amaloli. *resolves to get a cream/white coat*
Due to my coat issues I have to switch, because a pinkxwhite headdress looks rather silly with a black coat, and it also causes problems with choosing shoes. u_u;
But I say in your case, you can leave the headdress, it looks fine. Also, where did you get that coat? It's adorable!

Aw, you look amazingly beautiful in that coat :o I'm so envious! As for the color problem, try to coordinate with pink accessories - I think the outfit would look more balanced if you had pink shoes or socks, for example, and maybe a pink bag and gloves.
