cap patterns anyone?

Does anyone ever or have a pattern/tips on making a cute little night cap such as THIS? I'm wondering if it's made in a hat sort of way where they're a circle piece on top then a long rectangular strip to go around the circle top piece or is that top piece one piece on it's own (wouldn't that make life easy!?).

So how can this thing be made proprely?

That pattern has what you're looking for, I think.

Even if you don't want to buy it I think you can look at the pattern insert and see what shapes you need.

It's a baisc mob cap. If you want a bought pattern...Kanniks (http://www.kannikskorner.com)does a mob cap pattern that is pretty close to that one. http://www.kannikskorner.com/pataccess.htm

But yeah, it's just a really large circle that is then gathered. The band has the lace sewn on first then that is gathered as well. Then you sew them together.

Yeah, I do mostly historic costuming and it's a mob cap. There are lots of free instructions as well Williamsburg has a set made for schoolchildren that might be ok although I've never used them, I've just always made them or used the Kanniks pattern.
