Hi! I don't know if anyone of you make your own clothes, but a friend of mine is trying to make her first lolita and gothic lolita dresses. Anyway, she bought a whole bunch of ruffles, but is not exactly sure what to do with them (she prefers lace). The only thing I could think of was to use the ruffles on aprons and pinafores. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry if you see this in more than one community.

I make my own clothes most of the time...

She could modify a shirt by putting the ruffles on it. She could make a ruffle skirt, or maybe she could put the ruffles in the sleeves of a nice jacket. Yeah, that sounds fantabulous. Tell her if she has a nice blazer or something, to put the ruffles on the ends of the sleeves, just inside the bottom (you wouldn't wanna see the top part of the ruffles, right? You'd want them to just kind of fall out of the sleeve ^^).

Hey, she can even put the ruffles on a regular old hoodie. Although that's not really very EGL, it's just cute.

You can use ruffles pretty much anywhere you use ruffled lace, though IMO they tend to work better for the "false petticoat" or false underskirt/shirt look. (putting them just under a sleeve or skirt hem so it appears they're a separate garment).

Depending on the width of the ruffle, you can also use them as outer trim on the lower portion of a loli skirt or to finish the bottom of a sleeve or neckline...

What kind of material are they and what kind of finish/width do they have? You didn't mention.
