But I've seen a lot of talk about "plus size" (and by plus size, I'm assuming you all mean not the standard Japanese size, because no one should ever be labeled big or plus!) Loli's out there, and I just have to know... everything I sew, I do so with my shape in mind. Of course, when I go to sell such things, no one ever bids on them because I'm such an anorexic looking creature, and honestly want to know if some of you gal's out there wouldn't mind sharing your measurements in hopes so I can produce a wider range of clothing for *every* body type :).

I suggest you got to www.torrid.com (or any other plus size site even www.alloy.com offers juniors plus) and go to the size chart...since most girls (or well me) are like either bottom heavy top heavy no waist defined waist etc etc its a little easier just to go with company sizes I think...my measurements are to kooky to help but I hope those size charts help :)

Well, what's wrong with saying a girl is big if she is big? [shrug] Now the issue of what's considered a "plus" size (are there minus sizes? if the best selling dress size in america is supposedly a 14 why is that the point where most plus size sections start?) and such is a different one.

At any rate, I'm tiny. 29-31; 23-24.5; 31-32 (I fluctuate throughout the month.) My friend is a big girl. She's about 54-45-52, I believe.

I'm seeinglife's size, and I would just like to say that if you're making things for petite girls, please point me to your website/auctions, because all the GothLoli stuff I see is still too large for me.

I a size 10/L because I have large breasts and curvy hips, but my waist is relatively skinny. Funny that you mention this because I was thinking about it last night. I like my clothes to fit. My ribcage is 32" but around my bust is 38". My stomach is 35" and my hips are 39". Stupid boobs.

I never buy clothes or shoes online or from catalogs because so few things are small enough. And even when things are the right size overall, the details are out of proportion (buttons/pockets/trim too big, etc.) so they don't look good. But here are my measurements anyway.

31/24/32, 5'2.5"

And I'm finding it REALLY weird that of the 6 responses so far 3 of them are from women my size, when I KNOW that most people everywhere are much larger. Maybe the tiny women are most confident about making their measurements known?

Calistrisa, you might want to edit your post to mention that people who don't want to make a post about their measurements with their LJ login can do it anonymously. You might get responses from a wider group of people. (this is from user aitreni testing the anonymity, BTW)

I'm currently a 36-29-37 or so (optimum is about 35-28-36, but I haven't been that for over six months >_<). A bit too big for Baby! dresses, but too small for specialty plus sizes. I make and sell dresses and costumes, too, and I find that semi-adjustable dresses in the 7-10 size range sell pretty well. There are a lot of plus size girls out there, but there's also a large group of chubby but not fat girls like myself who hover between the tiny and large specialty clothing.

You can also set up a site and take custom orders or auction custom-sized dresses on ebay once you have some sample photos.

doesn't it suck? >_< I'm giving up and making my own next month, even though it'll cost me almost as much as buying a BSSB dress because lace is *so* expensive retail and it'll take me a long time to make. Blah.

Unfortunately I live in a bigger city and there just aren't any independent shops. I thought about ordering online, but then I'd have to buy the whole spool and that would be even more expensive. I don't really need anything too specific, just some lace to run a ribbon through and another style or two to run above and below it.

If you want to hunt around for me, that'd be awesome XD We can work out a deal or something for your time (I was going to offer you free labor on a lolita skirt, but I see that you sew... um... nevermind ^^;)

I just thought this was interesting.. If the in-between people can't find clothes that fit because everything is too big or small, the petite people (like myself) can't find anything because everything is too big, and the larger people can't find anything that fits because everything is too small, then who's fitting into the clothes and buying them?? Heehee, just thought that was a tad humorous.. I'll be off now.

I think it's the people that have absolutely streamlinde bodies...
I have a tiny butt and rounded hips...that makes ladies pants fitt me oddly over the butt area...I also have very long arms, wich makes most ladies tops sleeves to short.
I also have short upperbody and long legs to complicate things further....

;)

And that's why I make most of my clothing myself...it least if I want stuff ot fit me properly...

Mine are :
Bust 38,8
Waist 34,8
Hips 43,2
(I just transleated my measurments from the metric system to the inches system, that why my numbers are a bit odd)
I have a tiny butt and rounded hips and belly...wich makes ladies pants fitting kind of odd on me...

I was just measuring myself for a costume the other day, so you're in luck! Now.. These were "loose" measurements. I.e. They were in the dark and I allowed a few inches here and there for the "Swishy" effect of the clothes. I attempted to find my tape measure to take more accurate measurements.. But it seems to have disappeared!

Nevertheless. I'm 5'8 1/2 and my measurements are 40-31-42.

I am truly what you would call a "plus size girl", and it's taken me awhile to come to grips with my body size. I am learning to be more self confident thought, because I get tons of compliments from people telling me how pretty I am, and was once even approached in an LA club by a photographer who wanted me to be a plus size fetish model for something he was putting together.
That being said, a lot of girls, and myself still included, find it hard to talk about or admit which is why most of these replies are from small to average sized girls.
My measurements are: 43, 36, 45. I have an hourglass shape with a defined waist and proportional top and bottom.
Hope this helps.

I see nothing wrong with "big" girls, except that 1. It sounds like "little big girls" and 2. to me sounds really... dumb and fetish-y.

Amazonian, Rubenesque... those are also silly, to me. That's wrong with large? Eh? Plus size is the socially accepted terms, but... *shrugs* American (and other European) girls have a very wide variation in body size, as we are all so different!

Anyway, I think EVERYONE has a difficult time finding clothes that are nice, especially loli clothes... unless you fit the Japanese sizes! *hearts* I can't fit into most plus sizes because I'm curvy... not boxy. Most American clothes are cut to a box -- a little box or a big box, but still a box.

Your desire to make all sorts of different sizes is admirable! *hearts* Do you have any friends you can use as models? Hands-on experience might be even better!

My measurements: 44" bust - 32" waist - 42" hips.

*giggles* Actually, of all the terms, I kind of like Amazonian! I'm 5'9" with those curvy measurements... when I'm in my platform mary-janes, my bust always seems to be eye-level for everyone... ^-^;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

*checks out your photos* I assume you're the skinny-pretty Cali on there? Kawaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiii! ^_^ *claps*

I don't know how I fare in the US but in Asia I'm considered huge :P It's hard to find stuff that fits me, haha. Oh well ^_^;

I'm working on becoming more tiny, as I'm still only around 5' 2-3". ;; Sometimes people get pissed at me because there looks like (to them) there is nothing wrong with my measurements, and most of the BTSSB stuff fits me (except for the skirts.. they're tight ;;). I'm 34-27-37, but on optimum days my waist is a 26.

Elastic is good. *nod* Most clothes for plus sizes (in stores here, anyway) look like old people's clothes.. x_x So i'd definatly look at some of your stuff when you make it. ^_^

39, 31.5 and 41.5, to be precise, at this exact moment. And 5'7. Another of those 'inbetween' sizes. I do definitely think it's a good idea to put a few little adjustable touches to your costumes wherever possible, since everybodies bodies are so unique, and if anyone else if like me, they fluctuate an inch or 2 every now and then. Elastic in part of a skirt is one way, ties in cute bows at the back are another, and shirring can help make shirt and dresses nice and fitted even if there's an inch or 2 difference in people. I'm sure lots of people will appreciate the chance to custom order for their measurements too.
Good luck!

I was thinking of making a poll for the community with questions about sizes for all measurements (height, weight, bust, waist, and so on), along with favorite Lolita style, done so the results remain anonymous as to who answered it. I think it would be very beneficial for seamstresses who just don't know what sizes to make their clothing in to find an average or at least a range.

i guess im sorta in between but im a bit tall so that kinda screws things sometimes, mostly with pants

i'm 34-26-36 but im 5'8 and pretty much all of that is legs, so finding comfy long enough pants is a big pain. i have this big thing against high wadders =\

Hmm..I actually have the opposite problem, most loli clothes on ebay are to big for me (with a few exceptions). I would love to find authentic looking loli clothes in my size range. My measurements are 34 bust, 25-26 waist (depending on time of the month), 34 hips.

mine's late, too
