Sep. 18th, 2003 01:02 pmThis is kinda related to
mesasophia's post earlier about giving the appearance of having lighter skin, but instead of using makeup to put a white layer over my skin, I'd rather just have lighter skin in general and not deal with like powders and such.
Basically, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good skin whitening/lightening product? I know there are tons of products, especially in Asia, but I also know that a lot of them don't work and it's hard to just test one out when they cost so much. I've tried the Shiseido and Swiss line skin whitening lines and they both didn't work. And I need a product that specifically whitens all skin that it comes in contact with, rather than just dark spots and abnormal pigmentation. The only product that I read great reviews on in terms of lighting overall pigmentation cost like $100 USD per mini-vial and that was too much for my budget.
I used to go on goth pages which had different home-made skin lightening recipes, but I tried a couple and they didn't work. I also wouldn't know if the ingredients in the home-made batches are actually safe for the skin both immediately and in the long run.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

Date: 2003-09-18 01:34 pm (UTC)The other ones that are marketed and that lighten to some degree are usually the ones that use kojic acid (dangerous in large amounts), hydroquinone, arbutin, etc., but I'm not sure which companies have more effective products and I'm also not sure which chemicals are efficient yet used in safe amounts.
Michael Jackson's skin is scary. I hope I never look like that haha.
My natural skin color is actually somewhat pale-ish, except I haven't seen that skintone since I was 5. I've had this eternal tan since I started running in the sun in elementary school and it doesn't seem to "grow out" despite the fact that I hardly see the sun nowadays and wear strong sunblock when I do.

Date: 2003-09-20 12:46 am (UTC)My mom started using it on her face (were both light skinned already, I just wanted to be lighter) and in two weeks the redness on her face has gone down A LOT! I would recommend it, it should work *if* you follow the directions. You might also want to check out the Korean brand Debon. They carry quite a few whitening products.
