Dusty Rose Dress
Sep. 7th, 2005 04:36 pmI was finally able to get good photo's taken of the lolita dress I wore in the Otakon Fashion Panel.

This dress is deffinatly my favorite one I have made so far. I was really careful about the lace selection and the fabric is just so pretty. I'm not sure if you can tell in the last picture, but the fabric has little victorian girls dancing on it. ^.^
This dress used the same ugly thrift store dress as a pattern that I used for my "Victorian Rose" dress (http://www.deviantart.com/view/11394163/) and also my "Brown Fur" dress (http://www.deviantart.com/view/16869227/). This time I just used to for the top, and drafted a new pattern for the skirt part. Like with the brown fur dress, I squared the neckline and made the back shirred. The puffed sleeves where also a new addition to the pattern, and took several times for me to draft them right.

Date: 2005-09-07 09:33 pm (UTC)I'm not sure how much it would cost, since I really depends on how much fabric it would take, what kind of fabric, and what kinds of lace you would like. If you e-mail me about it, I'm sure we could figure it out. Sakura_Fairy42@yahoo.com

Date: 2005-09-08 12:29 am (UTC)Ah! I haven't been able to find rose lace anywhere at all besides cheep-trims (which only lets countries outside the US order with insane next-day shipping that costs basically the same amount as the stuff you order -_-). Makes me wish we had JoAnn's in Canada ^_^;;.

Date: 2005-09-08 04:44 pm (UTC)If you don't want to sew the elastic strips to the dress directly, another way to do it might be sewing ribbon "channels" onto the dress and then threading the elastic through those. I used that tecnique for the sleeves.
