Amusement Parks
Sep. 7th, 2005 02:47 pmHave any of you ever dressed up when going to an amusement park? I'm asking this because I'm going to Six Flags this weekend. I don't think I've ever worn a dress to one before, but I thought it would be the perfect time to dress up. I was worried about if my dress will fly up when I'm on a ride or if I should take off my bow or mini-tophat before I go on.

Date: 2005-09-07 07:14 pm (UTC)Besides, I actually do know people who go to amusement parks all decked out in full-Loli gear just to show off. They don't actually go on the rides - so I've seen it happen.
:] I've also seen people do the above, only they did ride the rides and such, and havoc ensued.
So you aren't alone.

Date: 2005-09-07 07:22 pm (UTC)I tend to fancy up my gothic and lolita outfits when I'm going somewhere with a lot of people.
And I NEVER go on amusement park rides.

Date: 2005-09-07 07:07 pm (UTC)...That being said, I would recommend you NOT wear anything overly nice to that place. Lots of rides aren't dress friendly, and if you buy food there - it's bound to be messy.

Date: 2005-09-07 07:20 pm (UTC)plus it will probably be hot outside waiting in lines & if you take off you mini-hat you could lose it. and you wouldnt want to lose any of youre cute accessories.

Date: 2005-09-07 07:34 pm (UTC)After a day's intense riding, I found out that the hem has ripped off (luckily only seams, so it is redoable), a lot of stains from different types of oils, from brown to black, mostly tiny small spots. And lastly, being my own fault, a stain on chest from a spicy thai meal. :P
I've washed the dress at least 5 times now (in machine mind you), and the only stains that didn't disappear are a few of the darker oil stains. And I can still see the outline of the food stain. :P
I would suggest you to wear shorts or bloomers under skirt. Avoid the heavier pettis or avoid them altogether to minimize the risk of rippings. Do not wear loose accessories. You could remove them prior rides though. And do not wear that precious expensive dress. Only wear dress/outfit that is machine washable.
I've went to that amusement park in lolita gear, but not ridden any rides though, were only there to met some people that was there and called me and wanted to met me and I happened to wear lolita clothes.. :D

I was fine, I didn't wear a petticoat, just some light bloomers, and a short slip to keep the dress and bloomers from getting staticy together. Of course it was at Epcot, and Disney World is a very clean park.

Date: 2005-09-07 10:36 pm (UTC)It was great, nothing wrong happened - and yes, we wore high heel shoes for almost all day! From 7am to 8:30pm.
I've never gone to a Six Flags... if they have a lot of rides that involve loops, really high drops, etc... I wouldn't dress-up. Maybe casually, but that's it. It was okay at Disneyland though I guess cos there aren't a lot of rides that can have your stuff fall off/out of your bag.

Date: 2005-09-08 12:46 am (UTC)Actually, amusement parks are absolutely no fun in a dress, you can't go on half the rides in a skirt. ._. It would be a waste of your money. x.x
