Have any of you ever dressed up when going to an amusement park? I'm asking this because I'm going to Six Flags this weekend. I don't think I've ever worn a dress to one before, but I thought it would be the perfect time to dress up. I was worried about if my dress will fly up when I'm on a ride or if I should take off my bow or mini-tophat before I go on.

Yeah, you probably should. And don't wear something too expensive or detailed, if you don't want it get damaged. You can go for a more plain/casual look maybe? Just because it would be practical. Because I assume you want to enjoy the rides too? (Without being scared something will happen to your clothes.)

Sorry, I wasn't laughing at you really. ^_^

Besides, I actually do know people who go to amusement parks all decked out in full-Loli gear just to show off. They don't actually go on the rides - so I've seen it happen.

:] I've also seen people do the above, only they did ride the rides and such, and havoc ensued.

So you aren't alone.

That's me.
I tend to fancy up my gothic and lolita outfits when I'm going somewhere with a lot of people.
And I NEVER go on amusement park rides.

lol I might actually do that, except I'd probably go to some place like Disneyvillage (I'm in FL) where all the shops are since I wouldn't be going on rides.

But then, I might just go near the rides in hopes of seeing Japanese tourists give me looks like, "Not here too?!"

Yeah, but they say it simply because they think others can't understand. *hehe*

Which Six Flags are you going to? I live right next to one. ^.^

...That being said, I would recommend you NOT wear anything overly nice to that place. Lots of rides aren't dress friendly, and if you buy food there - it's bound to be messy.

I guess it would be fun to dress up :) you'll just have to wear bloomers so at least if your skirt flies up it wont be too embarrasing.

ive never dressed up at an amusement park but if you go on rides there might be an issue with the skirt. because on a drop tower or one of those hanging rollercoasters skirts in general dont cooperate. ^^; skirts always fly up. ive seen it happen to other girls.
plus it will probably be hot outside waiting in lines & if you take off you mini-hat you could lose it. and you wouldnt want to lose any of youre cute accessories.

Ok, not lolita clothes, but I wore a Leia outfit once to an amusement park and rode all the rides. The leia dress was fairly simple, but still long almost reaching the floor. And it is white.

After a day's intense riding, I found out that the hem has ripped off (luckily only seams, so it is redoable), a lot of stains from different types of oils, from brown to black, mostly tiny small spots. And lastly, being my own fault, a stain on chest from a spicy thai meal. :P

I've washed the dress at least 5 times now (in machine mind you), and the only stains that didn't disappear are a few of the darker oil stains. And I can still see the outline of the food stain. :P

I would suggest you to wear shorts or bloomers under skirt. Avoid the heavier pettis or avoid them altogether to minimize the risk of rippings. Do not wear loose accessories. You could remove them prior rides though. And do not wear that precious expensive dress. Only wear dress/outfit that is machine washable.

I've went to that amusement park in lolita gear, but not ridden any rides though, were only there to met some people that was there and called me and wanted to met me and I happened to wear lolita clothes.. :D

Bloomers! Shorter skirt to tuck between restraints. Bows in hair but in like pigtails etc. Not something that'll fall off. Small cut ebackpack that can be kept on as well. Something cloth and squishy.
Not a formal shirt. Either a cutsew blouse or a jumper dress. Comofrtable play around stuff!

If you plan on walking heavily, do try to wear comfortable shoes. I wore some high maryjanes to Six Flags, and then later on the straps broke off. Not to mention the blisters on my feet.

Excellent timing with this post. I'm going to SF tommorow and I was thinking about Loli-ing. Now, I just might. :D Great advice, in here.

And, despite not being overly fond of kogal, I love your icon.

I went to Six Flags in Denver a few years ago. I don't recommend wearing anything nice espically not lolita clothes. For one thing it was hot and I know I wouldn't want my expensive or handmade lolita shirt to have pit stains. Then there was a ride that went down a little waterfall in the middle of a whole bunch of other rides and it would splash dirty water all over everyone. If you want wear something lolita-inspired.

I wore this dress to Epcot last winter.

I was fine, I didn't wear a petticoat, just some light bloomers, and a short slip to keep the dress and bloomers from getting staticy together. Of course it was at Epcot, and Disney World is a very clean park.

I think it's do-able but personally i'd go for a more casual look and more 'secure' accessories (bows in pigtails rather than an alice band, that kinda thing), comfortable shoes, perhaps not really pale colours like white etc. I think brand stuff could be OK if you're careful, I guess it depends if you'd rather keep it pristine or get wear out of it as I know people see expensive clothes differently.

My online friend and I (I met her here on EGL, by the way! ^^) went to Disneyland on 28 May dressed full-out lolita. She was a gothic lolita, while I was a sweet lolita. I wore a jumper by Baby, The Stars Shine Bright.
It was great, nothing wrong happened - and yes, we wore high heel shoes for almost all day! From 7am to 8:30pm.
I've never gone to a Six Flags... if they have a lot of rides that involve loops, really high drops, etc... I wouldn't dress-up. Maybe casually, but that's it. It was okay at Disneyland though I guess cos there aren't a lot of rides that can have your stuff fall off/out of your bag.

Actually, the six flags near me (NJ) had a big goth/lolita gathering a year or two ago--they might have it every year, I'm not sure, I just happened to be there with my school, and I was like "wtf?! lolitas?!"

But yeah, even my normal clothes tend to get all mussed up at six flags...I'd go casual, definately.

I wouldn't suggest it, unless you go as a Cas-loli with some print that can conceal stains and such.

o_o Yes, you should probably take off your tophat if you go on a roller coaster.

Actually, amusement parks are absolutely no fun in a dress, you can't go on half the rides in a skirt. ._. It would be a waste of your money. x.x

I am not sure... the rides my lift up your skirt in very unuseful ways or you might tear your precious clothing or loose your tophat

But I'm sure that's a way to get lots of pics taken. (^_~);
