A quick question

Hihi! I haven't posted in a while....eh...gomen ne! Anyhoo, my question is about leg warmers, as they have been the choice topic as of late ^^ I was wondering what is the best fabric to make them out of. I'm thinking wovens probably, as knits stretch. What about vinyl? Would it make your legs die of heat? Mou... I have a orange shirt I'm making out of a knit fabric (ack! OT!! SORRY!!!) and I wanted leg/arm warmers to match it. Should I use the same knit fabric or put blue woven fabric accents on the shirt (was thinking of this...) and make leg/arm warmers out of the blue woven fabric? Just wondering...hmmm... As for the vinyl question, I had a pair of pleather pants that I cut into shorts and grew out of later, but I still have the bottoms of the legs. Since they're still in good condition, I was wondering it it would be a good idea to make them into leg warmers. Any suggestions? Should I fasten them with elastic as well? Or is there a better method? Blah... I've written too much... Excuse me please! >.

Well, no matter what you wear made of vinyl it'll make you very, very warm. If it's thick vinyl I'm not sure how well it would "gather" [I guess you'd call it] into the elastic casing, but if it's thin vinyl it could probably work being held up with an elastic band. If you wanted to get creative you could try something with zippers and or a hook and eye. I'd probably want to have a vinyl/leather needle as I hear they make sewing vinyl much easier.
I like how lightweight and midweight [woven] cotton blends fall, drape [whatever the right word is] for leg warmers. It's the same way I prefer my jeans not to be made out of too heavy a denim because I don't like the way the flares look when made from that fabric.
I've made leg warmers from stretchy knit fabric as well and they turned out fine. If it's *really* stretchy knit it might end up looking a little odd I suppose, but I see no reason to avoid knits altogether.

^^ Thanks for the tips! The vinyl (I suppose it's pleather...haha ^^;;) is pretty thin so I think a regular sewing machine needle will be fine. I have some thicker vinyl though, and no. Bad news. I think it'll gather pretty well, so I'll try it ^^

I still can't decide if I want to use the orange knit or blue woven fabric as of yet. Since I want them to match, I'll probably make it out of the orange first (I have tons!) and if it doesn't look right, no big deal. A blue skirt would look nice with it after all ^^ I should try a pleated one! I haven't done that yet ^o^ The orange knit doesn't seem to be as stretchy as I thought it was, so it'll probably work. If not, plan b!
