Are you sick of me yet? GL parasol #1....
Jul. 24th, 2003 08:38 pmJust finished. The not-yet-complete version was shown with the sepulchral loli a few weeks back, and here's the finished product. I do wish that it was easier to get a decent photograph of black at night, but alas, the top fabric is a bit reflective in the flash and the camera cannot focus fully without the flash. The blurred and closed pictures are the actual color.
My latest love... parasols. This one will Very Soon be making its way to ebay along with the entire Sepulchral Loli outfit.

Date: 2003-07-25 12:08 am (UTC)I ADORE. If you'll tell me, what material is the trim? The flash makes it super-spooky; I can't quite make it out.
Never. I found great parasol-holding-vases at Michael's for $1, the other day, if they have those about. I may need another, soon.

Date: 2003-07-25 12:19 am (UTC)And thank you. ^.~ It's a great stuff to work and play with once you get your ideas sorted. I'm in the works of trying to figure out a nice cobwebby material to use also.

Date: 2003-07-25 01:30 am (UTC)Anyway, I do thank you for your suggestion! I didn't mean to whine and mope about my school; I'm a senior, so I'm really to the point now where I'm trying to take matters into my own hands and self-teach. (I was homeschooled for my pre-college education, so I'm used to it! ^-^) I'm trying to absorb stuff from the wealth around me... And I have to thank you for helping me with that! You are so skilled and talented! *admiration*
And do keep us posted on cobwebby stuff... I haven't found any thin enough gauze around here. Fyeeee...

Date: 2003-07-25 01:38 am (UTC)And you're very welcome. Half the deal in costuming and alternative clothing design is sharing technique here and there I think.
I'm going to take a shot with food-grade cheese cloth, I think. See where that goes. I've a few alternate ideas.

Date: 2003-07-25 01:46 am (UTC)Whee! That's what I was thinking earlier, when the post topic came up... unfortunately, our local alternative-y foodstore was out last time I went, so I didn't get a chance to play. I want to try tea-dying it to yellow it a bit. <-- (all about the cheap dyes) If it works, I should just hit up one of my cheese-makin' friends to go in for bulk material. My entire apartment lives in fear of fits of Spooky Martha Stewart... ^_~

Date: 2003-07-25 12:16 pm (UTC)I've been costume head through about five productions now, at my highschool, and I'm considering going into fashion design or costuming, but I didn't realize that some colleges have theatre programs!
Hmm. Something to look into.
