Okay, here's my sketch that I was playing around with today, for a Loli-Prom dress, hehe.
It's sort of mushy looking, I think my ink outline looked a lot better (neater/more detailed) but I don't work super-well with colored pencils, hehe. Whoo, those stripes were a pain in my butt.

Bwee,I drew another pic...I got sick of it after a while but eh. Left to right: Tama-chan, Onii-chan (...onii-chan is female..inside joke XD), and myself looking ditzy as usual e_e

And, in my last post, I've read that on friday morning (i think it was then) at Otakon, there's going to be a tea thing..is it open to everyone? Just curious o.o

And, onward to the picture..type..thing...yesh. X'D

I found this while surfing DIY sites today. I have NOT tried it....yet Giggles

Parasol

Get an old umbrella with a good sturdy structure. The fabric part of it only has to be in quasi good shape (that's your pattern) make sure it's one of the ones with the little metal caps on the end that come off. Make sure all of those are still attached too.

Take the fabric part off. Try not to tear it. Take it off gently, and cut small slits in it around the top part, if necessary to get it off. Carefully get the little metal cap things off and put them aside. You want to be able to use them later.

Pin the old top to the fabric (use something that isn't too stretchy, or not at all). Cut the new top out carefully, leaving at least an inch around the edge for the "hem." Where the center is, cut out the absolute smallest hole necessary to get the top thingy through, too small is better than too big.

Hem the edge so it will fit. Put it through the center thingy, sew it in if necessary (this will be a little tricky). Clean all the old fabric and glue out of the end caps (make sure your fabric isn't so thick they won't fit on) and presto. If you were really careful with your pining and cutting and hemming (oh my!), you should have a parasol.

here are the pictures of the other fabric i dragged up from downstairs

these are ALL vintage pieces

ALSO - they'd make some really cute gothic lolita outfits or even they could be used for interesting bloomers...etc.

I have asked some of my friends ( and maybe ever here, lol ) where you get your clothing. Lots of people say thrift stores. Which sucks for me because all the thrift stores around here mostly carry old 80's reject stuff.

My question is, are there any stores you know of that carry loli-esk stuff? It doesn't have to be like, totally lolita of course, just semi? My mom is going to let me go shopping and get a few things, so I just want to know if there is anywhere I should look (if we have it around here that is, lol )

Yes, I just made a post but something just popped into my head >.>

I don't know if any of you here wear them, but I figured I would ask. Does anyone know where to get Doc Martins cheap? If you get them from the offical site it's $100+ and I don't want to pay that much for shoes.

Also, while im on the subject of shoes, im sure this has been asked many many times but what are some places to get cheap platform mary janes? I have looked and found pairs I want, but they are too much x_X It's hard to be a loli on a budget if you can't sew, haha

Please excuse the shameless plug, but... my new website, Morning Mayonnaise Magazine, is now up and running.

So.... why should you care?

The website is a Slashdot-like news and reviews site for all aspects of Japanese and Asian entertainment and culture. And, being as I am such a big fan of EGL, EGL will of course be a part of that. I'm not sure if there are currently any sites which give EGL, or any other genres of Japanese fashion, serious consideration in the way of news and information. Sure, there are fansites, but are there really any news sites which cover EGL? Personally, I don't know of any.

Which is something that I want to help change. Maybe there isn't a lot of EGL news out there - but at the same time, maybe there is. And having a news website that covers any EGL news that comes out - if it be a little or a lot - can only be a good thing, so far as I see it.

But there's an even more important reason for my wanting to post about this here, beyond a simple beg for you to come see the site. The way the site works, ANYBODY who comes and signs up for a free account can submit news and information to be posted. Anyone who visits the site can help contribute to the news archive. So, instead of just one person trying to collect and EGL news that comes out, and posted it up by themselves, anybody who ever hears any EGL news that comes out can take five minutes to let the rest of the world know.

So, what I'm hoping for, and what I'm asking, is that some of you will come check out the site, like the idea, and help by submitting EGL news if you ever hear any. That way, more people will have access to the world of EGL, and we can help make new fans or help update those fans who are already out there. I would really like to see a site that gives equal billing to EGL and other Japanese fashion (which is why I made the site), but I can't do it without the help of others. So, at the least, please come check the site out - it's still small, since we just launched today - and see what you think.

And, just FYI, the site isn't just Japanese fashion - it is a whole host of things, from video game to J-pop to Asian live action movies to anything "cute."

Thanks for reading!
