Thank you for all your input on the skirt decision. I chose the Alice one but I am hoping to get the gingham set in the future (with some careful saving). :)

Lolitas!

Here's a crafty alternative for those of you out there (like me) who are poor and can't sew, but think creatively. Look through thrift stores for "bed skirting" (I think that's what you call it), those sheets you put on over your mattress or box springs with the really cute sides hanging down, kind of like curtains for your bed. I found a really great bed skirt with teal ruffle and white lace for $5. So far I've got two uses for it:

One, I made a really cute poofy short skirt (held together with safety pins, no sewing needing). It has enough poof in it that it could probably also be used as a petticoat, too.

And two, I strung it to my ceiling above the perimeter of my bed, making a crude (but cute!) form of canopy bed. It's held up with safety pins and push pins cause that's all I have, but if you space them out frequent enough, they should hold.

Bed skirting can also make cheap drapes, if you have a big enough window. I made drapes out of an old blue and white gingham skirt I found at a thrift store for a dollar. Cut the seams, folded over the rough parts and safety-pinned it into place.

Any other ideas? =)

Hurray for my digicam and hurray for my armwarmers! I had a longsleeve t-shirt, but the arms were too short so i unpicked the seams, sewed up the raw edges and added some lace. I think they're not bad for someone who can't normally do girly things [i'm very much a scientist/engineer] so i hope you like them! I was thinking of embroidering a little crown near the lace on each one... does anyone think that is a good idea? i dunno if it will look odd...

Excuse the top, i know its not EGL but its the top half of my bedclothes ^^

Anyone know where one could be getting fur/teddy bear fabric  to make bears? Or good fabric to make plushies? I'm wanting to make myself a plushy backpack (possibly giraffe), lolita-fied.
Thanks in advanced.
