*shyly waves* Hello all ^_^; I'm new to this community (obviously, wow, I have such a way with words *cough* XD;).
I've just recently learned more about EGL (like, maybe 3 weeks ago), and I adore it *_* I've always liked the style the base the clothes from, and I've just gotten more and more hooked on it! After much begging, I've managed to get my mom to let me buy a dress online..I'd liek to learn how o sew my own, but my skills are less then stellar...
Is there any basic pattern I should start with..? And how long have you all been sewing, if you do? :3
Um, I drew this picture early this morning for a friend...it's probably not the best in the world but ehh..XD;
First time attempting an LJ cut so..forgive me if I screw this up x_x

*hides the hands and the shoes* GAH! I cannot draw those! XD; C+C is nice :'3 If you flame me, be gentle *hides behind hands*

That is absolutely lovely ^_^ And goodness the hands and shoes are great for someone who can't draw them! I know what you mean though, for quite a while there I would just draw everyone with huge honking boots and long sleeves so I wouldn't have to draw the hands and feet! Especially bare feet. Pure evil...
But this is so cute! I love her socks, and the little bat!

I recommend you try making a basic circle skirt for your first sewing project. *hugs* Don't worry, I've been sewing (off and on) since I was little, and I still think I have noooo skill. But a skirt is really fun and simple, and will make you feel very confident!

I can give you my DIY-fly-by-night pattern-less instruction if you like -- they're sooo easy.

Sigh! You have such beautiful skill sketching, though! She's super cute! Please, share more of your art with us! ^-^

wow, that is a great drawing. Me too have a really big problem when it comes to hands and feet. I practice like hell because when you draw fashion drawings hands and fingers can be crucial for the whole pose... :/
I think your look great thought.
Nice clothing design too :D

I've been sewing for several years, and my first project (if I remembered it correctly) was a gathered skirt.

I suggest starting out wiht a simple skirt for a first project too. Or if you are just learning to use a sewing machine, start with pillows or something you won't be sad if they get messed up. Once you feel OK following the line, start your clothing project. Get a pattern that says easy, quick, or learn to sew on it, and follow their directions as closely as you can. Elastic waist skirts are the easiest thing to sew.

If you have a Hancock fabrics near you, go check ou their sale right now. They've probably got patterns, but they definately have eyelet lace and other easy (cotton/poly fabrics w/o nap or texture) to sew fabrics for 1.99-3.99 a yard.

My apologies if any of this seems rude, it's really not my intention.

I was just wondering if the top skirt was intended to be a pleated skirt, or a pieced skirt, or just a series of flares on the bottom of the corset?

And I really think I'm going to have to make that blouse. It's thoroughly adorable.

I was concerned that, by needing to ask whether it was a pleated or pieced skirt, it would seem as though I was being derogatory ("Well, I couldn't tell what it was, so it obviously wasn't very good.") which certainly was what I meant at all. I'm glad things came across better.

And certainly I will post pictures.
