I know a lot of you are against the fact that the Lola-Goth (as Hot Topic has coined the term) trend is surfacing in the states, and namely, Hot Topic. But I for one am ecstatic! No, the clothing is wretchedly made with cheap fabric and even cheaper labor... but I am all giddy because I found this!

You can't see it very well (it's taken off the Hot Topic website, I'll take pics of the actual shirt I got when I'm not feeling too lazy). It's an adorable EGL girl all done up! The cutest f-ing thing I've ever found at Hot Topic!

Just thought I'd let you gals know :)

Hmmm....

Um, yeah. It's cute.

I'm just happy to hear it from you, someone that will avoid argument and things by acknowledging those of us that don't really appreciate the t-shirts and things that appear in Hot Topic.
*hugs you*

Thanks for knowing that we exist and not chewing us out over it, "To each their own", is what I say.

*giggles* I like "gothloli" better still. ^-^;;;;;;;;;;;

None of us need to be snobs! We all make beautiful lolis... *still on her "Lolita Happy Sugar Love Love" kick, makes more cookies*

I don't dress up ALL the days; some days a tee-shirt and miniskirt are all I want to wear... it's neat you could find a cute shirt you love! *heart*

And I'm glad to see a REAL Lolita wearing them..... well... to KNOW that a real lolita is wearing them, seeing as that isn't a picture of you *bops you for being lazy*

I can remember when "punk" first started becoming POPular. I sat at the back of the classroom with my black eyeliner and a dark, lacy blouse, glaring at the girls with jeans and a t-shirt saying "I AM LIKE SO PUNK!!!" and the only thing remotely "punk" about them was the little picture of a "punk'd out" cartoon character on their tops.

I guess it kind of just shocked me to see that t-shirt in the mall. I started to buy them all and dump them in a dumpster to keep from hearing "I AM LIKE SO E G L!!!" when I go back to school. GOD I hope this idiocy doesn't follow me through college, but I know that it will. If they're doing it at eighteen, why not nineteen? And then twenty.... and then......

Oh, and I'm adding you to my friend list, don't let my most recent post offend you. It's nothing against you or anyone else. It's a cry out for answers.

Eh... after high school, where you get your clothes becomes pretty unimportant to most. You're not trying to identify with a group, just choosing what you like in accordance with your own identity.
When I was in high school I was mostly a thrift store shopper, kind of kinderwhore style... I despised it when the things I wore started to come in style. Now, if I happen to have enough money, I'll buy something from hot topic or a similar place if I think it's cute and it makes me feel pretty. If you're a sincere person, and just being yourself, it shows, no matter where your clothes are from.
The shirt is adorable, I think, and a cute message. I hope to see pics of you in it!

leave it to hot topic to put "EGL" on a baby tee. RETARDED!

It's not that. The artist behind the shirt's design named character "Lola Goth", and the concept of gothing up a dolly-style outfit is hardly new in the U.S. It's just a ladies' t-shirt with a picture of an EGL lass on the front. :3 A really cute shirt, I might add. <3

Exactly how, would you say, it's retarded?

Um for one thing i do know that some loli's where cut-saw which i do somtimes and that consists of the regular t-shirts spiced up a little. This is good adition acutally. Also you must remember the shirt is from the company FINE which is also known for making cute cut-saw loli addition shirts.

This isn't exactly on topic, but since you mentioned it, how bad/cheap is the fabric/labor?

Did you mean it's just not as well made as you'd find for Lolita clothing in Japan, or that it's just generally crappy quality? I ask because I was thinking of buying a couple things from there (not Lolita stuff, just a shirt and a skirt) and I don't want to pay $40 if it's really badly made. Thanks for any input. ^^

It really depends on the company behind the label. I'd warn you away from anything by Lipservice and Morbid Threads.

Unless you're ordering online, it's easy to examine the quality of the merchandise in the store... I mean, anyone can point out quality THAT low. >_>;;

I am ordering online. >>;

Thankfully nothing from either of those companies was on my list.

Thanks for the input.

;-; But but! I -love- morbid threads! *pout* I have a nice set of a black vinyl lace up corset, and hot pants... sooo slick *-* *grin* Ah, how I miss my days of Rocky Horror...*wavery nostalgia mode* e.e..

They've held up oh-so-nicely *^^* I guess it's all in what you buy and how well you take care of it. I wouldn't put down Hot Topic stuff just because it's supposedly "trendy" to some people. I say get what you like from there if it suits you, and hang the common view. ;} My only regret is that a lot of it costs so much..

I have a one hundred-dollar dress from Morbid Threads which fell apart the day I received it as a Christmas present. All my socks and such from that company have fallen apart as well... As a result, I meticulously examine the quality of garments from that company before I buy them... And more often than not, I deign NOT to fork over the cash for items I'm almost positive will fall apart all too quickly. :*(

I never put down Hot Topic because of its trendy stock. O_o It's a chain store catering to a specialized set of fashion groups. I only dislike the store because the not-so-great quality fails to justify the outrageous prices...

Ah, the general stuff is what I was looking at. A sweatshirt, some t-shirts and maybe a skirt. So I should be ok. Thanks. ^^

I'll admit, I shop at Hot Topic all the time. Hell, it's convinient and I have friends who work there. But I wouldn't pay big bucks for their velvet gowns and "elegant" like stuff... it's not worth the price. But their everyday stuff is just fine! ^_^

Although I only browse at Hot Topic on the rare occasions I make it to the mall, I do agree with you there. Some of their t-shirts and random accessories are too good to pass up, and certainly they can't be found anywhere else!

I rarely part with the cash for something I could MAKE for mere pennies, but sometimes it's good to splurge, and Hot Topic has some great stuff if you know how to look. =D

I got that same shirt yesterday! It's pale pink with the same black details. Upon examining the HT website, I was surprised that I couldn't find that shirt in the same colour. O_o

Heh, congratulations! Did you happen to see the other EGL t-shirt at the site? :O I want that one, too! (I think it's a longsleeved tee.)

Ahh! I JUST bought that shirt today and the other one with Lola Goth wearing the top hat and grey outfit. I bought it with much hesitancy because I do detest HT (I saw it in the window in passing). I was shocked that the character's clothing style was accurate. I was going to get you guys opinion on this, but I see I've been beaten to the punch! =^__^= It makes me mad that HT is mainstreaming our beloved fashion and probably going to bastardize it to all hell... but that's no reason not to buy the tops if they're cute.

I'm sort of glad and sort of not glad there isn't a Hot Topic in Australia now^^;; I've seen T-shirts like this put out by companies like Metamorphose, so it's not bad... I just wonder if you could wear it with a gothic lolita skirt? I guess it would be more for dress-down days. Heh, maybe I'll just get my own T-Shirt printed or something instead^^;;
