[identity profile] batwinged.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] egl_archive
At the request/suggestion of Miss [livejournal.com profile] weetziefae I'm going to tell you all how to make a vinyl circle skirt, if I haven't already. Well I'm going to point you in the direction of my explanation if you're interested.

Anyway I posted this comment In regards to this picture. I'm pretty sure I've posted the info before, probably with pictures, but I can't recall.I really wish there was a way to search through your own LJ posts...

However that leads me into an idea/suggestion I have for the community. Every so often I see new faces posting all the same old links, and obviously I'm not even certain if I myself am reposting old information.
To alleviate repetition I suggest compiling a resource of our own not unlike the alt.gothic.fashion faq for gothic lolita fashion. Links to the stores, how-tos on headpieces and so forth. Might as well start now. There's plenty of content already and I'm fairly certain it's only going to continue growing.

Just a suggestion. I'm just as thrilled as anyone to see new faces, I'd just like to help them get their basic information all at once and bring us more new content more quickly.

What do you think?

Indeed. I think it would need least several sections : Lolita shops (including sites for the bibles), lolita diy/sewing, lolita events, lolita artwork/photography, etc.

(I wish there were a way to search through your own LJ posts too.)

Perhaps a "related fashions" section?

hn... i'd rather just include it *blinks* i guess there are guys who'd like to have patterns and such for this stuff too i guess ^^ but in the end it would be up to the guy who'll make the site ^^ i'd love to help, but i guess i could only contribute a bit to layout and such maybe.. if you wanna have a look, those are my sites:

Eh. I'd personally prefer them to be kept somewhat separate, or at least distinguished from one another. (ie Shopping, with subcategories for EGA, EGL, and stores that sell both, or something)

That'd be awesome. I actually wanted to publish an article like that in my magazine at some point.

Wai! How wonderful...! I had a shadow of "gee, it would be great if there were an a.g.l.f. faq..." and you came forward with it...!

Blegh, I hate the "this is, this isn't" whines. I think anything that shows up in, say, bibles is obviously fair game for egl (and that includes what people call ega! the bibles are full of "gothic AND lolita" fashion!) I'd think anything that shows up HERE ought to be included, myu? From the neo-victorian to the country lolita; it all pretty much fits under our umbrella. *hearts*

I like lists, so I'm going to summarize the ideas for sections:

Basic Links (articles about EGL, scans of the bibles, etc.)

Shopping Links, yum!

Simple DIY Projects and basic ideas (how to get by on basic black dresses, cheap lace can be your friend, this is how one makes a headpiece/circle skirt/collar)

More advanced projects and pattern numbers (how to trace out the bibles' patterns, which patterns have loli potential - and where to buy them)

Places to find loli stuff in retail is fun, but it's so seasonal that it probably just merits a "Check your local Wal-mart/Target/Claire's/Big Lots," they might have some loli stuff -- and suggestions on when/where to look. (Easter girl's hairgear, spooky decor items during halloween, etc.)

Loli suggested reading - books, movies, music of spooky cuteness

Oh, and fun communities and events where one can hang out with other lolis!

WHEE.
