Hello everyone! Just joined this community, and while I don't consider my style completely egl, I really love particular elements and try to incorporate an egl-brand of elegance in to all my creations...

Anyway, I'm wanting to make a petticoat that I can wear underneath pretty much all my skirts that are circle or near-circle, and I can't find a good pattern. I don't want something that will be enormous stand-straight-out square-dancy type of petticoat, just something subtle and not too long (most my skirts are right above knee) to give slight added flounce to the skirts and maybe have a bit of ruffles peeking out from under the skirt's hem. Also don't want the waistband too bulky--subtlety is the key here. Any suggestions for patterns I should use, or better yet, know of anywhere that sells such things? All responses greatly appreciated!

Uhm well~ I tried a petticoat pattern from a 50's costume. McCalls it was, can't remember.. (I think in fact that [livejournal.com profile] agitatorswaltz posted something about this earlier)
But that would be my first suggestion. ^^ Look for the old 1950's esque costumes, and depending on how much fullness you desire, buy some extra tulle/netting. ^^

I actually use a square dance petticoat. It's two layer, not overly huge, comes to just below my knee on my super-short body, so it would probably work for you. Mine's a Malco Modes petticoat... Just get one of the two layer, lower yardage petticoats. Or if you're thin, get a child's/girl's petticoat
One of the cheapest places I've seen them is here (http://www.calyco.com/fs-wwpc.htm).
