Style Idol- Yuko Adachi
Jun. 14th, 2010 03:26 amI'm not sure if this fits in with the theme or not, since she's not a lolita or related to lolita in any way, but rather an artist who inspires me.

June Theme
Jun. 8th, 2010 11:10 pmOne of the biggest fashion influence for me is Tamura Yukari. The first time I watched her on Youtube I was taken away by her cuteness and the fact that she was always smiling and seemed happy. I admire the way she evolved from sweet to casual and still pull off the look so well when she's 34. I aspire to be like her when I'm in my thirties. Not restricted by what society tells me I should be wearing, but wearing what I really like.
I admire Victoria Suzanne from Lolita charm and Miss Lumpy. Victoria Suzanne makes pink hair look normaI (I'm not saying pink hair should be abnormal but I always thought it would stand out in a weird way, but seeing her made me change my mind) Her posts are always fun and it's refreshing to see a blogger speak their mind without offending people. I love the way Miss Lumpy mixes and maches pieces from different brand so that they seem like an entirely different outfit. One of my favorite co ordinate of her is the one where shes wearing the red bodyline skirt with a brown belt. I must admit, I've occasionally immitated her co-ords : )
Last but not least is Princess Skye. Her posts were inspirational, and reminded me of the things that I have been taught since I was young, such as being kind to others. Her poses in photoshoots were also beautiful and I always got the impression of her being a calm and sensitive person. I'm normally very emotional and lose my temper easily so I look up to people who are calm.

Themed Post: My Idol*
Jun. 7th, 2010 03:34 pmMy Lolita Idol
Jun. 7th, 2010 02:53 pmSo after a lot of thinking, I realized that my idol is obviously Kaya! I've been a fan of his music for a couple years now, and after seeing his music video for "Chocolat", I was completely in love. To me, he has an unmatched sense of style. His outfits are always elegant, yet extravagant. It's obvious he like to try new things and play with his image. When I saw him live last year, he was always going offstage to change outfits. One minute, a cute yukata dress, the next, pants with a billowing coat. I think he was trying to show that beauty knows no gender, a concept very important to me. It's obvious he does his best to make a connection with his audience (and succeeds!).
I think the way he tries to make everything beautiful ties into Lolita very well. We all connect with each other through a similar aesthetic, a common interest in beauty. In an interview, he said: "the basis of beauty begins with never losing dignity." This couldn't be truer for Lolita! As many of us know, it can take some courage to wear these outfits in public, and we do anyway :D

Ok, I'm done :)

My lolita style idol.
Jun. 7th, 2010 12:07 pmMy style idol is also one of my favourite musicians and someone I really look up to. For any fans of the manga 'Angel Sanctuary,' by Kaori Yuki she is also believed to be the inspiration for the character Belial.

Theme Post-- Almost.
Jun. 7th, 2010 02:33 amThe theme involves 'idols,' and at the moment I don't have any affecting my style. My inspiration does come from people, however-- obnoxious anime nerds who don't speak Japanese. When an American says "kawaii," they don't fully
pronounce the a or double-i sound, and it comes out more like kowai, which means scary. My style blends kawaii with kowai, girly barettes with black jackets like this one (I'm the second from the left). While I don't wear lolita all that much(yet), my clothes have a mild lolita influence, like the lace that the photo doesn't really show on that jacket.
So, I am influenced by people, but I don't idolize anyone fashion-wise, nor do I wear bonnets.
Wy idol is my cousin Karl Taro Greenfeld, who was once the editor of Time Asia and has written a few books on the subcultures, underworld, and corruption of Asia, particularly Japan and China.

lolita idols
Jun. 6th, 2010 04:39 pmWell, I can name a few of my fashion idols, but none of them are actual lolitas or involved with the lolita fashion style. I've only been interested/involved with lolita for a little over a year now, so I don't really know many lolita icons, and the ones I do know of don't really inspire me. But the following people definitely inspire my fashion sense in a many ways.
1. Audrey Hepburn
She was elegant, graceful, gracious, and extremely talented. I don't really dress like her, but her style is always inspiring to me.
2. Sarah from 'The Labrinth'
She only wears three outfits the entire movie, but I love every single one. Especially the big, poofy, white and silver gown and the hair that came with it.
3. Iona from 'Pretty in Pink'
While I like Molly Ringwald's style in this movie and admire her spirit, it's Iona's (Annie Potts) wild and crazy sense of style that really grabs me. You never see her in a similar outfit the entire film, and each outfit she does wear is completely wild and fun.
So those are three of my top style icons.

Created for Drawing Day (www.drawingday.org) and for this month's EGL theme, bonnets PLUS it's Lolita day!
I thought I'd have some fun with the chibi lolitas, also inspired by some of the awesome bonnets that have been posted/made by some talented ladies :D I'm not too sure about the colours of the blouse >: Maybe I should've used a different colour, or at least a different colour for the teacup?
Done with a fineliner and copic sketch markers
Thanks for looking! <3
Theme Post: Bonnets
Jun. 5th, 2010 07:37 pmIn honor of Lolita Day and all of my milliner heroes, I made a simple straw bonnet. I've always loved bonnets but I never felt like they suited me. Anywaaay, I had a straw hat lying around and seeing all these posts of beautiful bonnets I finally had the motivation to make one for myself!

( snip, snip... )

I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents, since the women I highly admire weren't yet mentioned. They aren't lolita specific, but I look up to them.

Theme post - Bonnets!
Jun. 5th, 2010 01:20 amHi EGL! I make hats, and bonnets are one of my favorite things to make.

( I thought I would share a few of the hats I've made! Warning - lots of pictures! )
Tutorial Request!
Jun. 4th, 2010 02:01 pmThe monthly theme of bonnets reminded me how much I wish there was a tutorial on how to make a half bonnet (think AP's Rose Toilette half bonnet). Somebody who's really good at sewing and making things should totally write a tutorial! I'd do it, but I don't think I'm good enough to figure out how to make a half bonnet.
Here's a link to a photo...it's not mine, but I found it on a google image search.
Edit: Thanks to lovelyona's comment, I found poppy_cake's tutorial on half bonnets! But the photos aren't there anymore! Can anybody help?

Monthly theme: Bonnets Bonnets Bonnets
Jun. 4th, 2010 12:31 pmSince this month's theme is bonnets, I figure I would make a post about the various bonnet I have been working on, as well as some of my plans for future bonnets. I posted a few of my bonnets a while back, but I've made a ton more since then XD
I actually have a whole separate blog for my bonnets, as well as a few other crafty things, because I didn't want to clutter up Fyeahlolita with bonnet chatter. The blog goes hand in hand with my Etsy shop.
In conclusion, I am obviously bonnet obsessed @_@
