Longish multi-part entry ahead, don't mind me.

Thrift Lolita

I was at the thrift store on Wednesday, trying to help a friend find the remaining elements of his costume on miniscule budget, when I strolled by the 'womens evening wear' section. It's a tradition to stop by there and make fun of the horribly 80s dresses always found there... but this time I spotted a nice little purple satin kinderwhorish dress that with the addition of a little lace trim and proper accessories would be very goth lolita. Checked the size tag, checked the price tag, and ran over to the register.
When I got home, I immediately tried it on... and I didn't really like the way it fit me. The bottom half was perfect and adorable : very full with it's own little mini-crinoline attached underneath, but the top half made my torso all boxy and made me look, um, flat, and otherwise did absolutely nothing for me. [photo] Poo. "Well, I'll probably just take in the side seams a little bit and see what happens... now let's see what it looks like with my petticoat underneath!" Ohh the adorable poof... oh the adorable few inches of black tulle ruffle peeking out. I'm in love... from the waist down. [photo] I think I'll definitely take the side seams in some, and probably add two rows of black lace down the front, and either small black buttons or little black rosettes in between them.
But wait! What if I put on my purple corset-style top on over it? The dress is more of a plummy pinkish purple, and the corset top is more of a violet bluish purple (although the photo doesn't show it well), but I think it works together. Do you? [photo] It would look better if I laced it tighter, but that's easily done. I think all the outfit needs is some black lace bell sleeve arm warmers and a head/hairpiece, plus my everyday jewelry which for some reason I didn't have on at the time.

For Sale

I constantly have lots of clothes for sale-- trying to gain money for more&better loli-esque clothes for my materialistic self, of course. Well, that and art supplies.
I thought someone here might be interested in a few items in particular :

Red velvet dress. I think this would be a great "fixer" dress : add some elastic to the sleeves to make them puffy, a white collar, and liberally apply some white or cream lace trim and viola! Or maybe an "egl dresses down" outfit? It's very comfy, a size S/M, worn once. The color just doesn't look right on me, and I like dresses that are snug.

Black ruffle top. Simple top with short ruffle sleeves and a ruffle down the middle, size S. Nice and lightweight for summer. Meant for someone with a bit more chest than an A-cup, so I'm selling.

Heeled maryjanes. Worn maybe 4 times. Size 6 or 6 1/2, I forget which but I can check. Cute, but if one has a high arch like I do, they kill your feet. I'll stick with my chunky platform maryjanes...

Black pleather corset top. Tripp NYC, worn about 3x, tagged XS but I'm a 34a and it's just made for a larger cup size. B definitely, C maybe. Lightly boned but I don't know that I'd expect it to do any actual cinching.

Wanted : Custom Arm Warmers and Thigh-hi's That Stay Up

I want black lace biggish-bell sleeved over the elbow arm warmers. I have stretch black lace fabric. A sewing machine too, but I have too many sewing projects going on right now. I send you the fabric and details of what I want, and $5 or so plus a bit for shipping them back to me, and you make them for me and make me all happy. Any takers?

And is there any brand of opaque black thigh-his that @#$%ing stay up without garters or what? Ergh.

Anime Boston

If this boy, dressed as Klaha from the Beast of Blood video, approaches any of you who are going to this in gothic lolita style, do not be alarmed. He's just under orders from me to photograph you for fashion inspiration. However, if you are dressed egl and also wearing kitty ears, run, quickly, for he may try to kidnap you.

Wal-Mart

I keep seeing more and more skirts that are either so very country lolita (not me) or mid-calf black ones that make me squeal and hope on behalf of my wallet for a sale soon. In the little girls' section, too, if you're tiny like me, they've been having these white and pink tiered skirts that are obnoxiously adorable.

Ergh, indeed. :) I have long birdlegs, and I have had this trouble my whole life. Doubly distressing is that all of the Leg Avenue and similar thigh-highs are soooo cute, but won't stay up at all! Nothing worse than spending your evening bent over, tugging your stockings back up every 10 minutes. :(

Frustration breeds ingenuity, however, and I have a workaround for any pair of cute thigh-high and over-the-knee stockings. Here's what you need:

* a tube of plumber's 100% silicone sealant in Clear (I learned the hard way that it also comes in white, almond, and beige!). You can get this in any hardware or home improvement store.

* two large drink bottles - large fruit juices and Gatorade work well... anything with a 6 inch diameter or more to stretch them just a bit.

* a small strip of stiff paper or cardboard - index cards work well.

1. Turn your new stockings inside out and put them on the large bottles.

2. Squirt some silicone sealant on the stiff paper.

3. Smear a thin 1" wide band around the top of the stockings - this is to imitate the rubbery "stay up" band on higher end stockings.

4. Let cure at least 3 hours before wearing. Let sit overnight, if possible.

Your stockings will stay up beautifully all night long! This also works very well on long gloves (elbow to opera lengths). And they're still machine washable (no dryer, of course).

Hope that helps anyone with droopy stocking woes. :)

I like what you did with that outfit! It definitely works with a corset top.

As for thigh highs that stay up without garters... Victoria's Secret had some that come in black and white, and they stay up because they've got some kind of semi-sticky plastic lining the tops. Sounds uncomfortable, but it actually isn't, and they do stay up.

They might come in knee-high as well. I haven't been in there in a while, so I don't know for sure.

I think that purple dress looks best with the corset. It's really pretty. I adore those heeled maryjanes, and have some non heeled ones sort've like them. It's too bad the one's you're selling are not my shoe size. ;.;

wow. Very pretty. I like the way it all pulls together, the boots, the corset, the dress. Very nice.

Mrrrrowr.

And you're very cute, as well. Nice!

I've been looking all over the place for them. Does anybody happen to know of any sites where I can find them?

I want to be an exotic cross-dressing spiritual femme...and these bell sleeves are a must if I want my look to be perfect.
