i have a question for everyone who dresses in gothic lolita style: what the hell does one do in summer when it is boiling humid argh icky hot? x.X;

=D Just buy cute, elegant, flowing dresses to wear. Lace or mesh is the key. Girly, modern all-over flower prints look nice coupled with a transparent lacy mesh fringe or white/cream eyelet lace.

I also suggest skirts -- long OR short. You can pull off the lolita look even with a short pleated schoolgirly skirt! :3 Couple any skirt with a cool, breezy matching or coordinating top (think lace again, or light blouses and see-through tanks or tees), and you're good to go!

As for accessories (in case you're wondering), limit it to one necklace and MAYBE a bracelet or two... You could pull off a pair of light gloves or armwarmers, but these tend to get hot and sweaty before dusk, when the air cools a bit. A bonnet to keep the sun out of your eyes might be nice. :3

I can take pictures of myself wearing "summery" EGL outfits, if you want proof that it works. :3

i'm known to wear lots of black vinyl and my tall boots even in the summer, so don't ask me how to get comfy for summer. heh.

I'm not sure if this is egl... but I saw someone with a pair of bloomers being used as shorts... they were quite short... but any length would be cute... I plan on making a pair for summer shorts...

I try my best no to be out side when the sun is up if I'm dresses EGL or not so the summer's no problem, I just wait till night, and maybe wearing something with less layers.

My slips become my skirts, I lose the tights and stockings and switch to lacy short socks. Cute t-shirts and cool lacey tops begin to rule. Loose jewelry and a general avoidance of leather or heavy cottons and such.
A nice parasol is always good to keep the sun off and keep that pale lolita look of course. XDDD

Try looking for dresses and tops with short or no sleeves? It's not a look for everyone, sure, but it's certainly what a lot of the EGL in Japan do when it starts to get sticky (^-^)

Sundresses. You can't go wrong with sundresses! Especially if they're made of cotton and are ultra-short. Apart from that, try to stay in air-conditioned places, like malls, cinemas etc... when you're dressed up, and then you can probably wear more.

Urrgh, six months of the year are Summer in Australia... I can't wait for Winter... I envy anywhere that thinks 27C is hot...
