I *love* that Butterick pattern... it's like a little self starter kit - bloomers, the little round head piece, a Vickie leg o' mutton dress (we're converting to a shirt by making the skirt very very short) and then another dress (c) that could soooo easily be made into the short maid-style dress. My girls and I will be all over that pattern once I get my machine fixed!

Even the laced up overdrape has wonderful possibilities.

Now, all we must find is a good apron pattern.

I found apron's galore on eBay just by searching "apron" in Vintage Patterns. Also, "pinafore" turned up several adult patterns. And nearly everything was still under $10.

Yup, and this one, too.

I made them when I was going through a particularly "Delirium" style phase - and still use them because I don't quite feel that I'm out of the phase.

Grrr... LJ just ate my comment. In short, this site (http://home.aol.com/ilove2lace/bloomer.html) is really all you need to make basic bloomers -- the pattern is soooo simple I just mark it on the fabric, and can make a pair in about a half hour... provided I don't get distracted. ^_~

I just looked through like ALL of the costume patterns on Saturday, and Butterick does have some neat bloomers... I like Simplicity's too, they have pretty much every friggin style of undies from every era. In all honesty, though, just go with the site listed for your first pair, very easy!

Headpieces are fun... does anyone know the best method of making fabric roses for those?

For headdresses like Moi-meme-Moitie and Metamorphose sell, cut two pieces of fabric 12"(30cm)X 2.5"(6cm) and sew them together, then add one or two layers of lace around the edges, about an inch and a half wide, and then sew some insertion lace down the middle, add a heap of bows and flowers and you're done!
