i finally made something!!! <3
Feb. 25th, 2004 09:19 pmyou know what i like about really, really, *really* cheapo synthetic lace? it's stiff as a board and won't ever get soft no matter how many cups of fabric softener you use! sooooooo...get that kind of lace and about three yard or so of shiny icky polyester type fabric and you get yourself a....petticoat!! ^o^

okay...so i know that shiny fabric doesn't necessarily equal gothic lolita. BUT i do think that in this case it worked in my advantage.
i for one am a very thrifty spender but i was willing to drop a hefty sum on a nice petticoat. my only problem was having the petticoat be too bulky or adding too much fluff to the point of being unflattering. also, i didn't want it to bunch up underneath my skirts becuase of whatever particular fabric the skirty happened to be. after making this, i found that it added that nice "lolita" shape to my skirts PLUS the texture of the petticoat was smooth enough that it didn't ride up underneath.

the petticoat has two layers. i put a lot of lace to the bottom one so that it could floof the top layer more outward. the second picture is the deatil of the lace i used...surprisingly enough, it was a really pretty design. ^__^
so anyway, i thought i'd share some of the clothing i've been making ever since last year. i'm really quite proud of them even though the firts ones were really crappily sewn or reconstructed. hope you other lolis like them too! ^__^

this was the very first blouse that i have ever tried my hand at reconstructing. i should show you guys a before and after but i'm really lazy right now so i won't do it. ^^; but anyway, i like how the design of this came out. very lolita-esque i thought...

here's a detail of the shirt and the "cravat" part of it. i think that pointed eyelette lace really worked out well with the over-all design! ^__^
here's the fist thing that i ever made!! i liked the design of this one too...although i kinda wished that i used a different kind of fabric for the inside layer of the skirt. it's about ankle length for me and really crappily sewn. ^^; but i love it anyway! ^o^

skirt details. and yes...that is sort of a silvery kind of color for the ribbon. i thought it was black but i was wrong... although it does make an interesting contrast compared to the fabrics i used, ne? ^^

here's a shirt i made that i kind of experimented on design-wise. i wanted something that looked something putomayo or h.naoto-ish but it didn't turn out like i wanted it to. that's okay though cuz it turned out to be a very clean cut, cyber/aristocrat-ish shirt.

my first plaid skirt! ^o^ and the reason why i love plaid sooo much. ^__^ i didn't really have a plan on how this skirt was going to look so it was a "add things as i sew along" kind of design. i'm pleased with how it came out.

skirt deatils. i liked how i did the pleats at the bottom layer. it looks almost like box pleats...

people...this dress was a fucking *mumu*. >_< when i first bought it from ebay i thought that when i got the dress i'd have shorten it a little bit and have a wednesday addams dress. BIG MISTAKE!! so, with a LOT of hours of reconstructing, i ended up with a very nice, simple gothic lolita dress. it flares just a little at the bottom and i added the two buttons at the collar and at the cuffs. i thought it turned out pretty well if i do say so myself. ^__^

dress detail. my favorite part of the dress would have to be the two huge buttons at the collar. i love big buttons! =^.^=
edit: i forgot to put this one in...

this i made to go with the dress from above for that "maid" look... ^^

apron detail. lol! wow, i didn't realize i used that pointy eyelette lace a lot! but it's just sooo pretty, i can't help myself! ;___;
p.s. so sorry for the long post! ^__^;

Date: 2004-02-26 10:50 pm (UTC)lol, it's funny that you said something about MAM! design-wise, i wanted something like that blouse and it was actually one of my reference pictures that i used! ^__^ the neck-tie, "cravat" thingie-ma-jigger was just sooo cute that i had to do something similar to it! =^.^=

how long have you been sewing?

Date: 2004-02-27 12:16 am (UTC)^__^ i haven't been sewing that all that long actually. just for a year or so. i mean i would do little things like fix rips and such, but not actual, serious sewing. that is until i found out about gothic lolita. then i started practicing like crazy so that i could at least do something from the bibles. haha, my goal is to do something fancy but elegant similar to victorian maiden's style. i loooove their clothing! *drools*

Date: 2004-02-26 08:26 pm (UTC)And get someone else to take your picture in it all! I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants to see you all dolled up.
Darn you lolis, every time I start to think that by the time my hair gets to a sutably loli length again, that I'll be just a teensy bit too old to be getting dollied up, and I'm thinking about selling off all my loli stuff, one of you has to go and post something like this.
Seriously soooooo cute.
Awesome, awesome job.
