I asked on here a while ago asking for help with a hairstyle I'd seen in one of the Bibles - I couldn't make out what was going on in the how-to pictures, & couldn't understand the instructions. Someone answered (but I'm not sure if they had it right as that didn't seem to be what the pictures were illustrating - or maybe it was just me). And someone else replied asking if they could see a scan of the hairstyle. Only I forgot (oops!). And when I remembered I couldn't think of a way to scan it without pulling the page out or totally creasing the spine. But then I looked for pages that had already been scanned & put online, & found the page on Avant Gauche. So whoever it was who wanted to see a scan - here you go. And if anyone has any definite ideas on replicating the style...

It's behind a cut as it's full size (seeing as the point is that you want to see how it's done, you want to be able to see the details).

hairstyle

As you can see it looks at first like a simple pair of ponytails with hair wrapped round the base, then mussed up a bit - but in pictures 2 & 3 it looks like the hair is being looped somehow, but I can't see exactly how.

Heh, to my untrained eye, it looks like she's dropping a big poof of fake hair on her head. Who knows.

It's tulle and lace...not sure if it's actually constructed/sculpted into anything or just mashed together and pinned down.

It looks like her hair is being held in the loops with a bobby pin. The way the person is holding it is how you'd hold a bobby before putting into place.

I have the magazine with that image, and I adore the hairstyle. To do it, you need to put your hair into two ponytails and secure them with a hair elastic. Next, wrap a portion (about 1/3 to 1/2)of the hair once around the base of the ponytail, then use bobbypins to hold that hair in place. Take the ends of your hair and spread them out and pin them too, as seen in picture 3. This part is really about experimentation and seeing what method works best for you and your hair, but the basic idea is to tuck some of the longer ends in, while letting some remain out in chunks. The poof thing on top of her head is just a head piece, I would assume it's also pinned on. Just a warning; this style works best with shoulder-length hair; my hair is longer and thicker then the models, and I've found it takes a lot of pins to keep it in place. Hope this helps a bit, I'm usually not that good at explaining things ^^;;

Seems to me that really the only reason to loop it like that is to shorten the overall length of the pigtails and get those really spikey ends.

If you have just shoulder length or shorter hair, you can achieve the same look without the loops just by ratting up your pigtails, spraying them 8 billion times with aresol hairspray and shaping them into the little pointy poufs.

I wore my hair like that almost every other day for about 3 years. In fact, my hair is like that on my driver's license...
