This is my first attempt at what I consider a true EGL dress. Let me know what you think of it. I did lighten the picture so it would come out better. The outfit contains: A dress, Bloomers, Shawl thing, and a choker.

I'll be the first to say "It's gorgeous, but I hate satin."
You'll probably get a lot of that around here.
Normally I personally hate most black lace too, but the pattern of yours is really very pretty.
It'd be kickin rad in black cotton with white eyelet lace. ;)

I'd love to see it on! So promise to model it for us!

Yeh you definately will get that a lot around here. And i have to say i too am a "satinaphobe" it can be the most gorgeous work and the value still goes down a bit when its satin. But from here besides that the dress looks very nice.

As far as satin goes, though, that isn't too bad of a satin. I'm not fond of plain satins, but that has just enough of a pattern to break up the shininess a little. And it's a -lovely- color that in a dull fabric might have looked a little too plain...

And I second the call to model it. That cape-thing is adorable. ^__^

satin is *not* lolita.

*grins* You and I have had discussions about what is and isn't lolita before, and I know we disagree, but I think that's actually a nice satin. The pattern actually makes it quite matte in comparison to normal uber-shiney ones. The main problem with most satins is that they look too cheap and Halloween costumish. This one is kind of pretty.

And the craftsminship is good... but I'd like to see it modeled ^^.

*hands [livejournal.com profile] loli_miyoko the YV bag.* Heh.

Good design, great work but wrong material.
But the pattern on the satin brings down the shininess a little, wich is good. I can't stop thinking this in dark blue velvet, but that's just me.

that's what I thought!
Crushed velvet or something similair.
It's very pretty peice. And while satin does turn me off it's cute!

I think it's pretty. Reminds me of very Mana-esque style. You did a great job!

I love seeing colourful Loli dresses. It's very cute and I happen to like high-quality satin! ^_^

I have mixed feelings about satin... Plain satin I never like because it has that Halloween-costume feeling, but I like patterned satins and jacquards. I think your dress would probably look great in real life but that photo and the flash is not flattering to it. ^^;

I definitely think it's mistake to automatically say "satin is not lolita" because I think it CAN work (and really well) in some cases. Here's a picture of a girl I met at a concert, wearing a handmade satin dress. I thought it was absolutely gorgeous.

Definitely, satin is not always bad. Generallyyes, but there are exceptions. The only part of this pretty blue outfit where the satinyness bothers me is the bloomers. Satin bloomers (underwear!) feel somehow weird. But otherwise I think sorrowsdemise has made a really pretty EGL interpretation.

Yeah... that's exactly what I felt about satin... too costumey. But a patterned satin with a matte finish looks super-great.

In fact, that looks a lot like the material used in qui pao. (Those long Chinese dresses with the mandarian collars and the slim profiles).

That girl is wearing satin??? Can't even tell...
