I finally got my Mom's cruddy digital camera working again. Here are some pictures of things I have made myself; I apologize for the poor picture quality, I tried my best to fix them in PSP:

One of the first things I ever made, it's not too great, ne?

Second thing I made... getting better I think?

Next project, bloomers... I like them. ^__^

The blouse my Mom and I made with detachable sleeves. I need to make a better one with more details, but blouses are difficult! This has rose buttons and little tiny heart lace trim around the short sleeve cuffs.

These are actually the second pair of socks I've done, but I forgot to photograph the first ones and I don't feel like it now. ^__^;; I did these recently (right before Ohayocon) and I like them except that the socks are a bit more cream colored than the broderie anglais is. It doesn't detract from them too much though. You can't really tell because of the poor photo, but there are two layers of lace on the socks.

My most recent project and the one I am most happy with. This took me about 6 hours to make from pattern draft to hand stitch finishings (it took so long because the techniques were new to me and things were scattered around instead of in one work area). And after all of that I forgot to close up the opening where I turned it right side out; but that's because it was 8 in the morning after working all night on it so I was really tired. I was going to wear it at Katsucon to the EGL picnic but I was too tired Sunday to bother with getting dressed up and I didn't get showered until about 1:00 anyway so I suppose I will have to save it for another day.
So those are the things I have done so far! Any comments or constructive criticisms are welcome!

Date: 2004-02-18 08:32 am (UTC)I certainly don't mean to sound pretentious or anything but I've had problems with people who post like 16423986 times a day and use teen chat speak like "OMG, all my fanbois luv me. u all wish u were me! lollol!!111!"
Gah, I feel so mean! >__

Date: 2004-02-18 08:41 am (UTC)But yeah, they are really easy to make too -- I used simplicity pattern #8851 for them -- that pattern is really useful for the apron, nurse & maid headdresses (if you're into those types of G&L), the underbust corset, hooded cape and also the top would be great as a pajama blouse. I don't really recommend the skirt though since it's a circle skirt.

Date: 2004-02-18 09:29 pm (UTC)Cut out the fabric along with two pieces of interfacing; fuse a piece of interfacing to each fabric half (on the wrong side of course) then sew the lace in the middle on the top part with a little extra on the ends.
Then pin the outside lace onto the top *upside down and facing inwards* This is the tricky part for me anyway but it's illustrated in the Tezakuri (you can kind of make out what I mean at the top illustrated directions here (http://avantgauche.co.uk/Homemade/page27.html)).
You then sew each half of the chin ribbon to the back of the other half and place the two halves together with wrong sides facing out. Be sure to loop the chin ribbons through the inside like you can see in the picture above. Sew around making sure to catch the seam of the outside lace and leave a good size opening to turn the headdress right side out (I think the Tezakuri says 10cm).
Turn it right side out, sew the opening closed and press your headdress so it's all neat looking.
I hope that explains it somewhat... uh.. maybe someone else could explain it better than me if that's hard to follow. ^__^;
