My name is Ida and I live in Norway.
Next week I'm going to Tokyo, and I was wondering if anyone has any tips on which shops I absolutely have to visit, and maybe some directions as to where they are? Also, someone mentioned thrift egl-shops in Tokyo, does anyone know thier location?
Thanks!

I'm so envious, I wish I could go. I've been trying to make the dresses, some came out really cute, but some nothing like what I wanted them too. Because it appears you can't order them in the US.

Most of the sites I have found are in Japanese, I found one that is in Canada, but not much that I wanted to order from their site.

Heldigpusen...

Seems like lots of people are real lucky at the moment! Someone mentioned a few places on my thread below, I think a good rule is just to head to Harajuku. If you do find anywhere amazing let me know, I'm off in 6 weeks and I figure real up-to-date info has to be best. Have fun :)

If you're looking for unique clothing, head to Harajuku. There are a lot of shops on Takeshita Street. If you want some of my favs or some specific places, let me know. I studied in Tokyo last year, so I know the area decently.

Another place to try out would be Shinjuku. Another trendy shopping area, but more fruits style than egl. I think some of the major egl retailers have stores there, though.

My fav place in Harajuku was a place called Richards. All around goth with a bit of egl thrown in. Also, don't forget to check out the side streets! I think about half way down (near the Claires, if i remember correctly) there was a sidestreet that led to a really cool punk store. There was another place right at the start of Takeshita Street. When you get out of the train station, go straight on Takeshita street and take the first right (it's like an ally). There is a store with very cute accessories on the right hand side.

the first thing I ever bought in Harajuku was a skirt from there, way back before i knew anything about the scene and i was just visiting my brother!

Aaaahhh! It's all in Norwegian!!!
I've never been to Tokyo personally but here's some of the best places to shop.
Harajuku:
Closet Child (a second hand Gothic & Lolita shop), Gothic X Lolita, Mari's Rock
Shinjuku:
MaruiOne Shinjuku (Onejuku)- a department store with Gothic & Lolita brands.
Of course all of the different brands have shops in both places.

Ohhh I'm so jealous! I'm not sure of any places as I've never been to Tokyo but what I usually do is - if you see someone with clothes you like, ask them where they got it! Good luck and have fun! Take lots of photos to show us if you can! XD

off topic but...

Velkommen til gruppen! Gøy å se nordmenn her. Du er heldig som skal til Japan. Jeg håper på å studere der, men jeg må ta to år på universitetet først, ser det ut som. Jaja, det får vel gå. Kikket lit på LJen din. Den kjolen din er nydelig!

Sorry to all who doesn't speak Norwegian who reads this. I just haven't written anything in Norwegian for months.

Tokyo Shopping Guide

I've got a Tokyo GothLoli shopping guide in my LJ here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/sumirechan/5759.html). It's still under construction, but I just added a map showing all the stores in Harajuku. (Coming up next: photos of the exteriors of all the stores.)

Definitely go to Harajuku. Or, if you don't have time/energy, go to Shinjuku's MaruiOne department store. Or, ideally, you could go to both.
