i may be moving to florida in a few months, i live in southern california now. i was wondering if any other girls live there and what it is like...
do your winter months get cool enough to wear nice cute coats? and is it too hot all year to wear anything more than a jsk and short sleeve blouse. im assuming its very humid.. so does that have an affect on your hair if you curl it or make it all cute? the weather here is very nice and you get to wear all kind of garments year round. i am told that florida is pretty much the same all year round, and i will be sad if i don't get to take my winter clothes or even my long sleeve blouses. how do you ladies cope with such issues? is layering totally out of the question? also what are some types of places you wear your clothes out to?

*edit* i would move to sarasota. i don't know much bout where that is, an hour from orlando? but thats the part of FL i would move to.

I used to live there when I was a child, one thing that is good to know is that the weather changes alot. I remember days starting out hot and humid but ending in rain. But in general it is the same, it also depends on where in Florida. Oh yeah, sometimes it hails!

I hope that helped at all.

That's so interesting because I may be moving to FL for a little bit and then going to Southern California.

But to answer your question, it really depends on what part of FL you're going to, but for the most part the summers are insanely humid (if you want sausage curls, the only way they are gonna stay is if you get a wig!) and the winters are warm with no humidity (the curls will work then). It will very occasionally get chilly enough for a coat, and then you can definitely wear long sleeve blouses. But expect it to be tropical year round. And rain. Lots of rain.

I know this because I've been to FL a few times and my Mom practically lives there (hell, she will be in a couple weeks) and calls me everyday and tells me what the weather is like.

Yes to the cute coats. I freeze my booty off and wear several layers of sweaters because I'm such a whimp. If you can't wear coats at first, you'll get used to the weather and want to soon.

Oh yeah, I also live in the north part, near St. Augustine *MUST HAVE AN EGL TEA PARTY THERE SOMETIME* and it get's pretty cold. The lowest temp here so far this winter would have to be... I think 13 degrees. Orlandos lows I think have gotten to the 40s.

I live in florida south florida. When you first move here the winters are pretty wimpy you'll probably just have a long sleeve shirt on or something. But if you've been here longer like me I wear hoodies and stuff. There are some people so cold they wear leather jackets and gloves. I laugh at them but hey if I stay here longer maybe that'll be me. It's colder in Norther Florida and near orlando so don't give up your stuff.

I know where Sarasota is ^^;;; I used to live in St. Petersburg but now I am close to Sacramento in Northern Cali.

The humidity level there is VERY high. For me, it just meant that my hair waved and curled, though not always in an adorable manner...it can also cause my hair to frizz. The weather isn't necessarily the same year round, as it can get a bit chilly in autumn and winter, but don't expect snow anytime soon. Lots of rain, though. If you had a Loli coat or long-sleeved blouses, I should say that you'd get to wear them a few times during the year, no worries!

The summertime is horrendous. x_x; If you will be Loli-chan during the hot months (especially July/August), choose your clothes very carefully! Victorian Maiden, I believe it was, had some rather cute Loli dresses with thin straps for spring in G&L Bible 8...those and corset-like tops will probably be your best choice.

My experience with wearing Loli clothes in Florida (I went back to visit this June) is that you will get ten times as many odd looks and snide comments as you do in California. But that is only what I've come across, your experience may be entirely different! There is a "Goth" club in Tampa called The Castle, if you get the chance and are of age you might want to consider dressing up there.

I live in Florida also ^_^ Born and raised in St. Pete and am now residing out in the boonies of North Central Florida. So here's my take on the weather for both North and South. South florida winters tend to be more warm than northern (naturally ^_^) and south florida is alot more humid(due not only to its location but all that asphalt in south florida reflects alot of that sunshine state heat amking it feel a tad more hot). And it is more prone to thunderstorms, one of my favorite things to remember when I was a child was going to sleep to thunderstorms. As for the Lolita scene, clothing wise I would recommend finding your local major college and downtown shopping area because some of the best thrift stores and vintage clothing stores can be found near them, and thrift stores and vintage stores can be a loli's best friend as you can find everything from mary janes to square dance dresses that can be EASILY revamped into a lolita outfit if you think creatively and be alert. Another think to make note of is there are at least 5 anime conventions in florida per year, as that is a good place to find some Florida loli's or even some out of town ones visiting for the convention. I'm right now saving up to go to Anime Festival Orlando and getting the hotel room for few days extra to hit the local sites. Now to get back on subject of the weather, dont get rid of your winter clothes. While Florida does have warm winters for the most part our winters tend to be the damp kind that go right through your clothes. Wear clothes that breath easily and is light during the warmer season. And keep those warm clothes for the damp winters.

Well if you go to Anime Festival Orlando in August you can hang out with me and my friends (most of whom know and like the Loli style ). Here's the link if you would like more info although all they have posted right now is the Month and a Coming Soon sign. Hopefully they will add more soon.. http://www.anime.jyu.fi/~fleggett/afo/
