I need help, I've been searching for a specific hair color and I cannot find it. So please help, thanks!

I'm trying to get my hair the color of "Light Pink" on this color chart http://www.drlocks.net/Color%20Chart.htm And MP's Cotton Candy Pink is too dark as well as Special FX's light pink is too dark. I need it to match well since I'll be putting in extensions that color. Thanks in advance.

Update: Does anyone know anything about this brand? http://www.smartbeauty.info/SB033/acatalog/infoSCBP.html

Just a warning, I used the stuff they sell at Starship stores, UK Underground or something (in a short jar with a Union Jack logo) and that is too dark as well. My hair turned out a magenta even though the label is light pink. I hope you have better luck than I did!

Fudge colors has a tube of White that you use to mix with their other colors to lighten them.... I tried it with orange to get a creamsicle color. That was a few years ago, though. Don't know if they still make it.

I was going to say "go post at dyed_hair" but you already did. Heeh. The problem with light pink is that first your hair has to be very white underneath, which is really hard. If you have darker hair, it probably won't work because you'll need to bleach it and dark hair tends to bleach to a fairly yellow blonde. If you have lighter hair, you'll still need to bleach it... unless you're platinum platinum blonde... And then you might need to use white tonder before you pink it. Anyways, the only reason I say all this is because I've seen a lot of liht pink dye attempts that end up as orange or coral colors because the hair underneath is still blonde : /

Once you have the nice pale color to dye on, I'd suggest putting the dye on fairly thinly and washing it off quick, then washing it again with hot water, which shoud hopefully make it paler. *shrug* I'm not really good with pale colors, my friends and I always want the dye to soak in as much as possible and get very dark ^^;

Hm. a friend of mine had a pink streak that was very close t that color. I should ask her what dye she used, though she probably wouldn't remember everything she did : /

One more thing! XD Mani Panic tends to fade a lot faster, whereas Special Effects lasts a little longer. So if the color is too dark for you, you might wnt to try MP since it will fade faster ^^;

I've never seen that brand before, but it looks like it's the color you're after... you're lucky if you can bleach your hair very light, mine is almost black naturally, and bleaches to an orangey blonde : P

Good luck with the pink!

Would you have a suggestion for a brand that lasts longest? I tried Manic Panic before, and you're right, it took only 2 washes before it pretty much was no longer noticable at all. It was very sad. ;-; I thought about trying Special Effects, but what's the difference in how long it stays in, or do you know? I'm looking to get it to be fairly vibrant.

Well, I use Special Effects, and it lasts me a few months- it does fade, but it's still very green. I don't have any recent pictures on my computer, but the (tiny) picture in my icon is a good example. That picture was taken on July 4th 2002, and my hair hadn't been dyed since April. The original color was a bit more turquoise(it's a mix of iguana green and sonic green, fyi) and darker, but as you can see, it was still pretty bright. My hair is bleached, so it holds dye better than unbleached hair, if yours is unbleached. The secret, though, is that I leave my dye in overnight. If you put a showercap on and cover your pillow with an old towel, it works pretty well. Then in the morning, take your shower and wash the dye out. Your ears will probably get dyed too, but that goesaway in a few days, and it's likely to happen anyway.

From what I hear (and have observed), blues fade the fastest, and reds hold the most. That might also affect your color.

Bah, I've babbled enough ^^; but yeah, I highly reccomend special effects, and leaving it in overnight really helps the color stay- pretty much all of my friends who dye their hair use special effects and leave it in, and most of them have been doing it a lot longer than I have ^^;

hello~!
I was just thinking that if you ever find the perfect pink solution, it'd be nice if you'd post it so everyone could know!
:)
good luck with your dye! <3 *hug* ^_^

My hair is currently light pink (well, at least part of it) and I used Special FX. I originally had it incredibly bright pink, but I think you could use less than I did and get it to that shade. Just don't use too much and rinse it out sooner than it says on the bottle.

If you have dark hair (mine's brown) you'll have to leave the bleach in for a LONG time to get it light enough to dye it correctly. I think I did mine for 45 minutes and managed to get it to just about white.

Ohh, be careful doing that. If your mixture is too strong, or you use a cheap brand, and you leave it in too long, it can literally dissolve your hair. o_o

what's the best way to keep this from happening? I want to dye mine a sort of fiery red-orange or burgundy, and was hoping to get it fairly bright this time. My hair's a golden brown with lighter bits on the surface 'cause of the sun. I thought about bleaching it, but my hair's already fairly damaged, and I'm afraid of doing more harm to it. Is there any special way I might go about it?

I... honestly don't know. I do know that you'll need to do a lot of deep conditioning before you do anything else. Use Matrix Conditioning Balm, and leave it on for about 15 minutes or so (that's what works well for me, anyway...). Other than that, maybe you should make an appointment with a good stylist, and see what she suggests?

Get a professional bleach from Sally's or somewhere. I find they're kinder to my hair than bleach bought at normal shops, partly because it seems to work a lot faster. And condition your hair A LOT afterwards, of course.

Don't use cheap bleach, LOL. I bought a bleaching kit, and followed the directions very closely. I did a test too, just to make sure.

I'd go with Special Effects Cupcake Pink (because it's the best/longest lasting) and mix it with conditioner in a bowl until you come up with a color light enough. It's a vegetable dye, which means it is a stain. Whatever color it looks like before you put it on your hair is what color it will be on your hair. The conditioner will dilute the color making it lighter and also have the benefits of conditioning your hair. Warning though, the lighter you go, the faster it fades. I had my hair cupcake pink for about a year and it was very light. I was really happy with it.

As for bleaching, go with a cream oil bleach that you can find at beauty supply stores, not frosting bleach. Frosting bleach is the most burny/damaging. Wellite, Speedlite, and Loreal Super Blue are the best.
