Better than flannel!
Feb. 10th, 2004 08:29 pmI've finally found the perfect fabric for my new ensemble--and it won't be flannel! XD I found three yards of Dupion silk in a deep Nile blue, on sale for $5/yard, no less. I'm drastically altering a vintage 1950s pattern to make a knee-length, box-pleated skirt, and sticking with the Vogue belt pattern to make the faux corset. The skirt will have a single row of black Venise lace near the bottom. I'll wear it with my high-collared black lace blouse, and black over-knee socks.
So now, the Most Important Question: what do I wear in my hair? I could put blue roses on my mini top hat, or wear my existing all-black headdress, or or make a whole new one out of leftover silk. Aah, so many choices! o_o
Also... Is there any sweet, wonderful person out there who could make me a pair of plain black bloomers with no lace, and no elastic around the legs? I'm super-stingy (in case you couldn't tell... XD), so I'm looking for something around the $10 range. I'm willing to pay a little more if there's a bit of pintucking around the legs, but that's not an absolutely necessary detail. I'd make them myself, but I just don't have the time. :\ Thank you all so much! ::hugs::

And if I have time, I think I may make a matching headdress. I need a new one, anyway. If I don't, though... My head will just explode. x_x Or I'll go with the top hat. Whatever.
