i was surprised when i saw loads of vivienne westwood items in kera - maybe not strictly elegant gothic lolita but still very beautiful... but oh my god i would kill for a pair of those 98,000 yen rocking horse ballerina shoes! XD
I've heard that Westwood was a big influence on what grew into modern Lolita style. I can see it, personally, what with all the cute crown-and-cross imagery. :)
It's true. Vivienne has been pushing the edgy Victorian look years before the birth of EGA. Her fashions are highly coveted by the Japanese youth and I believe she has a few exclusive diffusion lines for her Japanese clientele. :)
I would definitely cite Vivienne Westwood as an influential designer, as with H.Naoto and the designers behind Marble/Visible.
Hmm.. What about H Naoto, Moi Meme Moite, BtSSB, Angelic Pretty? I could very like ly be wrong, I'm still trying to sort out all the different brands and designers with their works. SO many of them o_o;! These are just a few off teh top of my head.
I think I might say Mari's Rock/Richard's, even though their clothes have never been featured anywhere like the Bible. (I guess by the time the Bible came out Mari's was already out of style) They were making funky clothes for musicians and fans way back in the early '90s. Their line of women's clothing wasn't advertised as "Lolita" but a lot of it had that look anyway. Later brands did a similar look and made it cuter/punkier/more elegant depending on their tastes, but it's not that different from the old Mari's clothes. Their style hasn't changed much over the years, still the same kind of oldschool visual fetish wear for men and early Lolita they did in the '90s.
Kazuko is the one that started the gothic lolita fashion in Japan. She created Mana's early outfits as well. Another Osaka brand that has a great influence is Funakoshi's Alice Auaa. Vivian Westwood is very popular and copied frequently.
