ten questions
Feb. 10th, 2004 08:18 pmIt's a national holiday tomorrow, so instead of doing work i'm procrastinating on the internet. Sorry if this has already been done but if not....if you're bored too, how about taking an EGL survey? Feel free to skip certain questions if you like and just answer some.
1) How did you first come to take an interest in EGL?
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.)
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle (note: i just think this is interesting because even while many EGL girls have similar clothes, I've been seeing a lot of different hair styles lately).
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
10) Add one question of your own and pass it on!
Sorry, can you tell I'm bored? Anyway I'm interested to see what everyone things ^_^.

Date: 2004-02-10 11:35 am (UTC)1) How did you first come to take an interest in EGL?
Just seeing girls in harajuku when they first started to really wear EGL, maybe a few (4? something?) years ago. It's so cute and yet mysterious, and was similar to my own long-term fashion statement (goth but more victorian). I think it's a beautiful fashion choice for any girls (or boys!) in the visual scene.
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.)
I have my own style, consisting of everything from regular EGL brands to a real victorian dress that my father's grandmother wore, to actual childrens' clothing, to cheap lace shirts from JUSCO, but I really love Baby the Stars Shine Bright and MAM. I could only wear those clothes and be pretty happy, I think.
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
Most of the time it's more on the goth side. I'm pretty "mainstream EGL" right now...black with some white lace, black and white striped stockings and mary janes. But I also have a few really sweet outfits, like a Baby SSB skirt that's white with a pink Alice print on it and a big bow, pink Angelic Pretty cardigan, lace children's socks, etc...and I always, always dress up whenever I go anywhere. I really own no casual clothes that aren't uniforms of some kind.
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
I'm unoriginal, but I really love Alice in Wonderland. Especially with the original drawings!
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
Visual kei, and european goth, mostly, but also some random American/British music. My favourite bands by far are Malice Mizer and The Smashing Pumpkins...pretty weird combination I guess. I like anything japan indies.
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle (note: i just think this is interesting because even while many EGL girls have similar clothes, I've been seeing a lot of different hair styles lately).
My hair is about shoulder length, with the "standard" EGL look of very thick, perfectly straight fringe. I usually wear it in pigtails and./or curls, especially when I'm dressed up.
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
I've heard many people (not in this community maybe...in real life) say lately that EGL will die out cos it's just another fashion trend. But, I don't think so. Most fashion trends, if they are going to, die out within one or two years for sure, usually more quickly. EGL has been going on for what, almost 5? Plus, it's kind of a subset of goth/visual/indies, in a way, and that style has been around forever and seems very unlikely to go away.
I think that EGL will continue to thrive in big cities like Tokyo and Osaka, but will never become largely popular in Japan. That's good, IMO! I think it may also spread to places in Europe more widely, especially when some visual bands have started to play there and give people an interest in Japanese visual culture.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
I play the violin and write poetry. I'm a cliche! I did kendo but now that school is ending, I won't anymore, cos it's painful and I've had enough. My dream goal is to be a violinist for a visual band, (with
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
I'd love to live in a victorian mansion, but somehow that seems unlikely. So really I guess my dream apartment is a modern apartment, western style but with one tatami room. The western style rooms will be decorated in dark blue, with antique european furniture, very elaborate art, etc. The tatami room will be more plain, with only traditional furniture and art.
Sorry this is so long! just tell me if you want me to delete this post, i didn't realise how long it was before....
alright, ill bite since i feel too sick to go to class.
Date: 2004-02-10 12:25 pm (UTC)A friend of mine kind of pointed it out to me, and also showed me some (more lolita than gothic) outfits from paradise kiss. I later started the look through fruits and the EGL girls really stood out to me because they looked like living dolls.
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion?
I'd say if my wardrobe could consist of a healthy combo of Angelic Pretty, Baby tssb, and Metamorphose, I'd be happy because...
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
...my look is super sweet! oh and mini top hats and crowns for all. speaking of which I may be working on a project related to those beloved items in the near future
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
Frankenstein comes to mind because of its gothic (in the original sense of the word) themes, but I cant say I've read much from said period as I'm not a big fan of the flowery style. I've always been kind of fascinated by victorian style things.. ever since i got my samantha doll i guess! She came with books...
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
meh, nothing much related to the genre. I like to horrify people with hebi ichigo, and then laugh as they too find its kind of catchy...
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle.
sure, I wear a curly bob, and since at that length I have natural ringlets I just let it do its thing and it ends up being pretty conducive to bows and other hair accessories. I've left it at its natural medium-dark brown color for the last few years.
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
The one thing I've definately noticed, at least among the sweet designers is a distinct mod influence. Whether that will continue, who knows but its an interesting twist. I think just like any distinct "scene" It will continue as long as artists in the genre are putting out new music and the fashion gets people's attention.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
I like to draw, sew, and stare at my computer in my free time. During the rest of the time Im a full time college student and I'd like to get a career in diplomacy some day, as my major is international relations (possibly with an east asian focus, we'll see)
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
Well I'm strongly considering getting an apartment with my two friends next year and one of the most important things to me is that I go somewhere where I can have a dog. Every little doll girl needs a toy dog in my opinion. But for a house someday I'd love a sweet gingerbread-y victorian mansion *siiiigh*
10) Add one question of your own and pass it on!
I guess my question would be where do you get most of youre EGL style clothes?
alright, ill bite since i feel too sick to go to class.

b00~! =D
Date: 2004-02-10 12:59 pm (UTC)1) How did you first come to take an interest in EGL?
~ I think I stumbled upon the fashion somehow, probably through my interest in Jrock.
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion?
~ Atelier Boz are outstanding.
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
~ Depending on my mood, or what items I have to work with, I'll go for anything. I mostly like dark, sensual clothes, but with a distinct elemtent of cute. Frills, lace and bows, but in darker shades.
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
~ Alice in Wonderland?
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
~ Jrock! Kagrra, Dir en grey, X Japan, hide & Spread Beaver, Chirolyn, L'arc en ciel, Hyde!
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle:
~ Well, my real hair is shoulder length, light brown, and has pink extensions. But my more EGL hair is in my icon =D *t3h point*
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
~ I think that the fashion will catch on around the world, and Lolitas will begin to explore different avenues in which to express their creative spirits.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
I'd like to teach English in Japan. I enjoy reading, RPing, playing video games, drawing sometimes, doing computer graphics, haging out with my friends, listening to music and cosplaying.
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
~ Ahaha. I'm not even going to go into it. Let's just say it has a large ball room with a Tim Burton-esque spiral floor.
10) My own question - Do you have enough confidence to wear extravagant EGL clothing out in public, or do you prefer to tone down your clothes for every day wear?
~ I'd love to wear extravagant clothing every day, if only I had the means. But a lack on money means I have to make do with alterning what I've got =3

Date: 2004-02-10 01:49 pm (UTC)My most stylish friend told me about it right around the time the first GLBible came out (3-4 years ago?) I thought the full-on lolita outfits were crazy at first, but obviously, they grew on me.
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.)
Nah--I'm too eclectic. I want one outfit from each major brand, from Juliette et Justine to h.NAOTO.
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
My two EGL outfits are both very sweet. In some ways, I'd rather be more punk--I love red tartan and black leather, and it's very difficult to keep my hair and clothes in lolita-grade perfection--but I don't really have the anger to be punk. I can justify myself as a lolita better. (Actually, I'd love to do a kodona outfit--I have a big boyish streak, too--except I can't imagine cropped trousers looking good on me.)
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
Kaori Yuki's "Earl Cain" series. (I really can't think of any EGL-ish western novels other than Alice in Wonderland right now.)
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
Sunny, unpretentious Japanese male groups like Yuzu, Spitz, and Ulfuls. Favorite western bands: They Might Be Giants, Belle and Sebastian.
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
I'm no good at predicting fashion, but I definitely see it spreading outside Japan even more in the coming years.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
Hobbies: movies, internet, looking at buildings, bargain shopping, translating manga. Career goal: It was my dream to translate manga professionally or at least do something with my Japanese skills, but I've been in Japan for nearly five years, and I still can't find a non-teaching job. (It doesn't help that both my parents are teachers--it's the only profession I know anything about.)
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
Mmm, I love interiors. A big house with every room decorated in a different style--simple contemporary Japanese, retro Taisho/Showa Japanese, mid-century modern, 1930s Hawaiiana/tropical colonial, weathered beach house minimal, frou-frou victorian parlor, dark, heavy gothic, one room done up like the Red Lodge from Twin Peaks, citrus-colored French pop... er, do you see a pattern in my answers?
10a)I guess my question would be where do you get most of your EGL style clothes?
Japanese secondhand shops. Not specificially EGL ones, just regular local shops. I've gotten really lucky.
10b)Do you have enough confidence to wear extravagant EGL clothing out in public, or do you prefer to tone down your clothes for every day wear?
I tone it down--I feel out-of-place as it is, being a foreigner in Japan. If I'd been into EGL in high school, though, I would have gone wild.
10) Add one question of your own and pass it on!
Okay... what's your preferred EGL headgear? Full-sized hats? Doll-sized hats? Rectangular headdresses? Fake flowers?
Me, I have a little collection of berets and narrow leather hairbands. I also love bandannas, but not for EGL, of course.
Re: Count Caine
Date: 2004-02-13 02:13 pm (UTC)I love your icon, BTW--I've dyed my hair with Beauteen in the Yazawa boxes twice (spray bleach and super black), but I've never seen that box/color/character.

Date: 2004-02-10 02:29 pm (UTC)Eh simple enough I stumbled across a picture a Mana about a year and a half ago and it sort of went off from there...
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.)
Since I haven't really got "my fashion" quite figured out yet I don't even know what brand could sum mine up o.O
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
I tend to like the sweet lolita over the gothic just because it seems more girly to me and that's how I am although sometimes I find myself day dreaming about warring a marvelous gothic lolita dress and
smilingpouting for the camera man...4) What's your favorite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
Well out of all the books in my house I like a vintage (I think its from the 60s) sewing book the children's section has all little girl's dresses that are really great!
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
I'll listen to almost anything if I like it I like I don't really care if it's rap or pop or comes from another country. I don't like one specific type of music I go by if It moves me or I'm feeling it I like it.
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle (note: i just think this is interesting because even while many EGL girls have similar clothes, I've been seeing a lot of different hair styles lately).
Oh yuck my hair, right now it's just crap but I'm getting it cut and styled soon so I'll talk about how it will look. It will be a messy layered almost shag a little past the chin (think cute rock star?) burnt brown hair, that's my natural color. I'm hopeing I can still get in waves at that length if not I may have it a little longer.
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
Truthfully as for "western lolita" I really think it'll go main stream for a little bit and then dying back down to what it is right now.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
Right now I can't say I have any really hobbies because I haven't had time for much of anything but school work and being sick in bed as for career goals I'm going to be (not I did not say want) an interior designer.
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
My ideal room is my room but not the state it's in now oh no! My room will soon be a cute retreat of pinks and black ultra girly theme.
10) Add one question of your own and pass it on!
Where do you get inspiration for your own designs if you have any?
God knows I come up with a least one design for something a day and it comes from all different places Stores/Designers (whether they be lolita or not), Anime/Manga/Video Games, Books, Drawings and even some of the other EGL's member's designs.
10a) Where do you get most of your EGL style clothes?
I don't have any clothes Yet. ;.;
10b) Do you have enough confidence to wear extravagant EGL clothing out in public, or do you prefer to tone down your clothes for every day wear?
If I had them I probably would ware them to certain places the mall (and then I'd stand in the doorway of hot topic and make faces at the people in there), Walmart (because everyone there thinks I'm a nut anyway), my friends' houses (they like the fashion too) and my mom's or around the house (my mom thinks it's cute and my grandma has no comment >D) but I don't think I'd have the confidence to ware them anywhere else.
10c) What's your preferred EGL headgear? Full-sized hats? Doll-sized hats? Rectangular headdresses? Fake flowers?
Mmm... I'd guess it depend on where I was and the time of year like being outside playing in the yard during spring I'd think I'd wear a cute hat to keep the sun out of my eyes, maybe in the winter a cute winter hat, if I was going some where in spring or summer I that was outdorrs again maybe a hate or some flowers but If I was going to show off at say the mall I'd ware a mini hat or headdress.
I am also bored.....so I'll answer Questions!
Date: 2004-02-10 03:09 pm (UTC)I found bible #2 at a book store.
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.)
Hmm, not really. I like a bit if everything, but Putumayo and Jane MArple are big on my list these days. I also like Grace.
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
Totally random.... depends on my mood, but I'm very, very tall so I never go too poofy.
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
Erm, that's tough. I rather imagine Angela Carter stories.
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
Once again, totally random. For Japanese music I listen to the Pillows and Sugar Plant (now defunct psychedelic ambient), but really I just play what ever catches my fancy. Ravel is always good.
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle (note: i just think this is interesting because even while many EGL girls have similar clothes, I've been seeing a lot of different hair styles lately).
I have multi-color brunet locks which are usually razored into layer on the long side. Some times I do crimped waves. Sometimes I have a lot of platinum streaks, but not this week.
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
I like the Brit influence and I can see it going that way a bit.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
Hobbies: Ballet class, Goals: I don't have time for goals....
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
I would love a traditional Japanese style flat, but I wouldn't have time to care for it properly. My studio is pink now, I'm very pleased with that.
10) Add one question of your own and pass it on!
What do you collect?
wee! tons of posts to ready for kawaiisamurai to read! *hugs* ^_^
Date: 2004-02-10 03:10 pm (UTC)Hahaha, it was through Jrock! and a friend of mine showed me her Gothic & Lolita Bible (2 and 3) once, and I was like O_O so pretty!! me wants!! That was like... 6 years ago?? O_O *feels old*
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.)
Humm... when I first got into gothic & lolita, i was in love with all the h.naoto Blood serie. But lately, I don't know I'm looking for something else, and i just can't find the brand that makes the clothes I'd like ;__; Though, I have to say I love MA, h.naoto Blood/Anarchy, Atelier BOZ and Black Peace Now. (and Putumayo accesories!!!)
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
I don't really know how to describe my look :/ I love ripped clothes! i mean really ripped!!! I think it's sorta goth/punk with a petticoat O_o;; Though, I've never considered myself gothic...
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way? Uhh, none? Sorry >_<
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
I listen to all kind of music (as long as it's japanese ;P) My favorite band is Plastic Tree, but I also love Janne da Arc!
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle
Wee~! my hair is super long! *pets her hair ^^* It's the part I like most about myself ^^;;; It's down to my knees and brown! and the bags vary in color and style, right now it's orange and red cut at different lenght a bit everywhere and some of it goes over my left eye ^^; (my bangs! not the rest of my hair ^^;; )
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
Humm... good question. I've heard that the egl fashion is slowy disapearing.. :( I hope this fashion will last for a long time and evolve with the futur trends, without following them. I think people got tired of lolita because it became suddenly so popular...
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
Humm... well i love to play video games! especially RPGs! and listen to music.. hummm, and draw a little but i'm not very talented ^^;;;
And well my career goal is to keep my curent job in 3 months! and learn japanese without turning insane ^^;;;
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
Humm, that part won't be vcery interesting ^^;; As much as i like to see victorian furniture, etc. I hate useless thing.. so basicly my ideal appartment/condo (don't wanna house :P too big!) would be very large rooms with HUGE windows (i love windows ^^; ) and very simple black furniture :) maybe a little victorian/antique but not too beautiful of too complicated!
10) Add one question of your own and pass it on!
uuhh.... do you like sheeps?

Date: 2004-02-10 03:45 pm (UTC)Through Malice Mizer and Mana. Saw an article on his gothic lolita grand and adored it.
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.)
Putomayo or Victorian maiden. I switch between the styles alot.
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
Um... I'd have to say Victorian Maiden or Putumayo stuff idealy. With my current budget I tend towards Mana's more EGA looks. Black and simple and long.
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
I love the G&L bibles. Just because of how varied it is with the many different styles and brands with the hair and make-up tips.
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
Industrial, Gothic, Euro Pop, Jpop, Jrock, Visual kei, Old Skool Punk, Metal, Heavy Metal and a few things like Sarah McLauchlan and No Doubt, Radio Head. Random stuff.
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle (note: i just think this is interesting because even while many EGL girls have similar clothes, I've been seeing a lot of different hair styles lately).
Something different constantly. Different styles, colors, and cut every few months.
Or even days for styling.
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
To survive it's gotta have it's staples of fashion. And Also to have trends and such added on here and there. Idealy it should spread world wide as a well know facet of Gothic fashion. If it does that we'll find a lolita dress right up next to bondage pants and velvet cloaks.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
I love the internet WAY too much. I love playing with hair. Drawing and hanging out downtown. procrastinating on playing my bass guitar. And dancing at the club on Sundays.
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
Nutural color walls. Victorian style antique furniture with random fabric patterns. n True victorian styl nothing matching. Velvet and sheer silk curtains draped from the ceiling and corners of the walls to frame the walls which will have large to small mirrors to expand the space as well as random paintings I've liked in heavy gilded frames. All the furniture would be of different woods and stains as well. Also a couple of mix matched oriental rugs over prefered lightly stained wood floors. Displays of china, vases and other antique stores finds under stained glass and crystal lamps.
The ceiling will be slightly dropped with patterned stained glass mirrors in wood frames to add interest to the ceiling.
And hopfully huge windows to make sure enough natural light gets into this darkish and stuffy room!
I'd love it anyways.
10) Add one question of your own and pass it on!
What does your room look like Now?

Date: 2004-02-10 05:31 pm (UTC)I was first into goth clothes but it didn't really suit me as I'm not really pale and I think that it is too mainstream and that I do not like heavy make up etc. I do not know why and how but somehow I went to a site (metamorphose I remember) and I thought that it was all doll-like and cute. But I also thought that I wouldn't suit in such clothes, that I'd look ridiculous. Continued with goth clothes but somehow I gradually transformed from usual boring goth, over via the hideous cross of goth/egl (short circle skirts, striped tights, corsets, transparent blouses) until I finally got the grasp of the real style and feeling of ELEGANT gothic lolita.
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.)
It is hard as I love so many brands so it would be a combo of 4 brands: Baby, Meta, Angelic Pretty and Victorian Maiden. Love the floofy and frilly but yet elegant clothes. ^__^
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
Ranging between Amai (Sweet) Lolita, Classic Lolita and Gothic Lolita.
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
It is hard, too few books that can be directly related to EGL. But as for EGL-inspired stuff let's say Paradise Kiss, Alice in Wonderland and Carmilla. The last one is more mature/EGA though.
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
Nope, nothing, nil, nada. Looks-wise I adore Kana though. And also Mana just for a good measure.
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle (note: i just think this is interesting because even while many EGL girls have similar clothes, I've been seeing a lot of different hair styles lately).
You've probably seen me, but I've got wavy long hair with bangs, of dark blonde/brown color. Sometimes when I'm wearing lolita I curl my hair into ringlets.
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
I do not know.. I only hope that it will lives on, for very long time. No too drastic changes though, but some variations is always good.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
Hobbies? Computing, sewing, creating etc etc
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
I would love to have a big apartment/small house of functional style (the 50-60's you know) love the boxiness/squareness of it. With intact functional style kitchen. The rooms of course painted in white or some light cold color. Modern feeling combined with retro.
10) Add one question of your own and pass it on!
I see that no one continues and answering on the newly created questions so it is no need of create more questions as no one will answer on them anyway?
But oh well.
"What do you think about satin?"
*lol*
Sorry, can you tell I'm bored? Anyway I'm interested to see what everyone things ^_^.

Date: 2004-02-10 07:09 pm (UTC)2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.)
HAHa...no way...My wardrobe is the most mis-matched thing you can imagine! I have a lot of things that I've made/customised though.
Ohh..I just re-read the question..hmm..not really I'd get bored of one style/designer.
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk? Gothic Victorian...:) EGA I guess... though I love the punkier stuff as well. Not keen on sweet :S !
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way? er...
5) What kind of music do you like? Softer rock and kooky music.Smashing Pumpkins, Muse, Alanis Morissette, Placebo, Darling Violetta, Radiohead,Abba, My Vitriol, Mercury Rev..mmmmm :D! (My favourites.)
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle (note: i just think this is interesting because even while many EGL girls have similar clothes, I've been seeing a lot of different hair styles lately).Erm...like a grown up little girl :|!!! It's short-(alfway between ears and shoulders)and goes straight down at the top part and flicks out at the bottom :D!
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general? I don't see it as being a long term fashion although I see a small group of people wearing it for a good ten years more. In terms of specific styles, I see the more gothic styles staying around for longer than the sweet styles..just because they're more wearable imo.I see it being mixed with cyber wear too a little..and adapted in different ways... with more cyber and punky elements being introduced as more Westen people take a liking to it.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal? erm..I would love to own my own shop with clothes that are unusual in texture, appearance with an "alternative" style to them, particually gothic wear (not as in the time period-as in a "goth" style if you get my meaning!!!), but MUCH less sterotypical "goth" than is available at the moment..A LOT more inspired.
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
Erm...BRIGHT colours. Every room will have it's own style. Kooky ornaments/paintings. My own art/creations on the wall as well as orignal paintings/photographs. Very though provoking. Nothing scary...!!
10) I think satin is nice...in certain situations and certain colours..
In EGL it tends to look tacky...especially bright coloured satin.
Jewel colours-burgandy, dark green etc and black are nice colours in satin, but other than that I'd steer clear.
My question is:
10) What period in time do you like best and why?
(I hope I did that last Q thing right..!!)
*fills in*

2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.)
H.Naoto ^_______________^
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?"
More of Neo Gothic.. buckles.. ties..
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
A Malice Mizer picture book?
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
Japaneseee! Kaggra, Ayumi Hamasaki, Boa, Pierrot, Malice Mizer, Dir en Grey, Psyco le Cemu, Moi Dix Mois, Eve of Destiny, Kana, Shiina Ringo, Schwarz Stein, Noriko Sakai, Miyavi, Kada Kumi, Karekano, Baroque.. well.. more similar stuff :P and some German Gothic music that I shall not scare you with XD
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle (note: i just think this is interesting because even while many EGL girls have similar clothes, I've been seeing a lot of different hair styles lately).
It is shoulder length blonde, semi curled with bangs..
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
The EGL fashion is somewhat dead... but H.Naoto and Neo Gothic will be the new stuff :P
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
Art, Music, Computers, Japanese, Movies. I have no idea.. I want to study Japanese
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
Dark, romantic, curtains, roses, art, kitty´s...
10) Add one question of your own and pass it on!
Ogenki desu ka?
I had to edit this a lot because it was too long!
Date: 2004-02-10 08:06 pm (UTC)I was interested in cosplay, sewing, clothing design, etc. I was also interested in anime, and at cons I found about visual J-Rock, and from there I found out about EGL. It reminded me of how I used to adore victorian clothes when I was younger and wanted to live at the turn of the century. After that, the internet!
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion?
Probably BSSB and Angelic Pretty.
3) What's your EGL look?
I'd say more sweet lolita, though I don't even have much EGL clothing right now. The stuff I love most is definitely sweet lolita though.
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
Paradise Kiss. It's not particularly EGL, but there are some outfits.
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
Loads of music, but not much J-Rock or anything since it's hard for me to find.
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle
As seen in my icon- My hair is green, down to my butt, straight, no bangs. Not the EGL-est hairstyle, but it's my ideal hair.
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
I think it will get less popular but still maintain a dedicated core. In the rest of the world (not Japan), it will probably grow a bit in popularity but never surpass the "sexy" little girl looks.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
Hobbies include (not limited to), drawing, writing, singing, watching anime, and sewing!
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
Probably a lot of green, though I've always wanted a canopy bed with white and pink (mostly white with pink ribbon and trim) bed linens. Beds with thick velvet curtains around them also intrigue me, but I don't think I'd sleep well in one.
10)
a) I guess my question would be where do you get most of youre EGL style clothes?
What little I have I've either made or bought at thrift stores.
b) Do you have enough confidence to wear extravagant EGL clothing out in public, or do you prefer to tone down your clothes for every day wear?
I've worn clothes in public that make people stare... ^^; Generally I prefer to tone stuff down more during the school week, and only wear the other stuff on weekends. (though I usually just wear jeans and a shirt, during the frigid winter at least)
c) Okay... what's your preferred EGL headgear? Full-sized hats? Doll-sized hats? Rectangular headdresses? Fake flowers?
Two bows on either side of my hair, sort of above the ears. I think this is one of the best styles if you don't have bangs ^^;
d) Where do you get inspiration for your own designs if you have any?
Well, I obviously draw a lot from the "real" EGL brands- Baby, etc. Also the victorian era itself, but generally I like to think I don't copy off other designs *too* much... : /
e) What do you collect?
I personally collect anime dolls, capsule figures, and My Little Ponies.
f)uuhh.... do you like sheeps?
XD sure
g) What does your room look like Now?
Really messy. I live in a cheap, ugly one-room apartment, so I have too much crammed in here. Lots of anime posters, piles of stuff, sewing things, hideous brown lineoleum floor. I don't bother trying to make it look nice, because I don't think it's possible.
h) What do you think about satin?
I think it has its place. All-satin dresses often look silly, but I think that's because with satin you have to find the right balance between not enough decoration (broad shiny expanses of bleh) and too much frilly overkill (blinding). I've seen some very nice satin stuff, it's all in how you use it. I'm planning on making a satiny skirt-type thing and a jacket with satiny details that I hope will look nice.
i) What period in time do you like best and why?
Hmm, probably the 80s, actually. I doubt I could live without at least some modern techonolgy, and I adore the 80s. They were so fun, but I was too young to really appreciate them. Then again, the decade was probably less exciting for adults.
j) Ogenki desu ka?
Hai! Okagesamadegenkidesu!
My question: What is your favorite EGL website?
Mine is probably http://babyssb.co.jp/
^_^
Date: 2004-02-10 08:34 pm (UTC)2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.) I'm pretty fond of my own style... ^_^; Because I tend to mix a few things... but I love Baby the Stars Shine Bright.
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk? I mix sometimes, but... I'm really pretty fond of the more gothic look right now.
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way? I don't really know of any besides Alice in Wonderland, though Interview with the Vampire comes to mind.
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands? I adore Jrock bands... mostly Visual Kei. Malice Mizer, Dir en grey, Moi Dix Mois, +D'espairs Ray+... and so much more.
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle (note: i just think this is interesting because even while many EGL girls have similar clothes, I've been seeing a lot of different hair styles lately). ^_^ Well, my hair is about at my waist... It's a natural strawberry blonde, but it's kind of thin. ^_^; My bangs are about to the bridge of my nose right now, and it kind of... Hmm... I don't know how to describe it... So I wont try. >>; I usually leave it down, though, but when I get dressed up I curl it sometimes...
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general? I think it's slowly dying out, but with a little mixture here and there and a few changes... I think it will come back. I don't think it will be something that just up and disappears for good, I think it's always going to have a following. That's always good...
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal? Hobbies? I love to draw and write stories... and I also love RPing and learning Japanese (though that isn't going to well. I'm trying to teach myself. >>;...). ^_^ I wish to be a fashion designer.
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated. Oh, wow... My ideal house... every room would have a different setting/feeling, but I would incorporate a few qualities from other rooms into each room so they don't feel completely seperated. I'm quite a fan of dark colors, though, so they'd pop up a lot.
...To be continued. o.o; >>; Character length limits... ;-;
Continued. o.o;
Date: 2004-02-10 08:40 pm (UTC)10b) Do you have enough confidence to wear extravagant EGL clothing out in public, or do you prefer to tone down your clothes for every day wear? If I had the money, I'd wear extravagant EGL clothing out in public, because I really... don't care what others have to say about it. I'm fine with being who I am, and I'm an EGL at heart... So I'm not afraid to flaunt it. The only problem is that I don't have the money to, so I'm forced to... tone everything down a lot.
10c) What's your preferred EGL headgear? Full-sized hats? Doll-sized hats? Rectangular headdresses? Fake flowers? Whatever I'm in the mood for, though I tend to favour headdresses and fake flowers at the moment. ^_^
10d) What do you collect? I used to collect rocks. o.o;... Now I collect stuffed animals. ^_^;...
10e) Uuhh.... do you like sheeps? I think they're cute. =D
10f) What does your room look like Now? Now? The walls are baby blue and the ceiling is white... The carpet is an antique Chinese one with floral patterns and such on it. The walls are rather plain, but I have a gorgeous white floral kimono hanging on one above my entertainment center.
10g) What do you think about satin? I think satin's great if it's used correctly...
10h) What period in time do you like best and why? Uhm... a mixture, really... So I can't really pick... I love the Victorian era, though, for the clothes and the over-all romantic... feel of everything...
10i) Ogenki desu ka? Genki de. ^_^ I'm a little tired, though. =(
10j) What is your favorite EGL website? I... don't really have one. x.x...
10k) (My question!) Who's your favorite GL artist? I love Nocturne Rim (http://www.cc.rim.or.jp/~urara/).
...I can't think of a question. ;-; Sorry.

Date: 2004-02-10 08:38 pm (UTC)In 2000. That was when I discovered J-rock, which lead to my still ongoing Mana obsession. His Saikai no Chi to Bara outfit was what first got me interested, and a Japanese friend of mine told me that the style was called "gothic lolita".
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.)
Well, I'm really fond of the Moi-même-Moitié style, as well as Victorian Maiden, Atelier Pierrot and Metamorphose.
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
I prefer the more gothic look. Mostly because I look terrible in the typical pastel colors of the sweeter styles, and I prefer more elegance than your typical punk style has.
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
I'll be traditional and say Alice in Wonderland. But really, any gothic novel can be EGL-ish, or at least EGA.
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
Malice Mizer, obviously. I also love Dir en grey, Moi dix Mois, Gackt, X Japan and Psycho le Cemu. And Nobuo Uematsu. However, I like non-Japanese music, too. I'm fond of classical music, like Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Wagner, Strauus and Mussorgsky. And of more modern music, I like Nightwish, Era, David Bowie, Marily Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, and a lot more. I have a very broad musical taste.
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle (note: i just think this is interesting because even while many EGL girls have similar clothes, I've been seeing a lot of different hair styles lately).
My hair reaches me to mid-back, it's deep burgundy, have straight bangs and is usually worn either loose under a top hat, or in pigtails with some hair left down to frame my face.
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
I think it will stay for many years to come. At least as long as artists wear it. Anyway, even if it goes out of fashion, I won't stop wearing it.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
My hobbies are writing, reading, drawing, sewing, creating stuff, collecting porcelain dolls, amateur make-up effects and RPGs.
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
My ideal house would be one of those old gothic castles one can see in horror movies, or maybe the nice chateau belonging to the Merovingian in Matrix Reloaded. It would be decorated in Victorian style, but only in dark colors. Preferringly, it would have stained glass windows and lots of velvet draperies. And plenty of room for my books and porcelain dolls. It would have as little electrical lights as possible, instead relying on candles, in cast-iron chandeliers. I like my living space dramatic.
10) Add one question of your own and pass it on!
What is your favorite EGL accessories?
Mine is a metal filigree brooch with two clear "diamonds" on it, and a larger "jet", as well as a "jet" drop hanging from it. I wear it on a satin ribbon around my neck.
home sick from work ^_^
Date: 2004-02-10 09:43 pm (UTC)I first found egl from being really obsessed with fruits in grade 9. Sometime around the end of grade 10 I was searching the net for japanese street fashion pictures and found a site (sadly down now:( ) with scans of bibles number two and three. I fell in love instantly. So thats like 3 years ago.
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.)
I love meta, innocent world, angelic pretty, victorian maidan
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?

4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?

5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
Hmm. Kana, weakerthans, ska, jazz, classic rock. I really like j-rock too.
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle (note: i just think this is interesting because even while many EGL girls have similar clothes, I've been seeing a lot of different hair styles lately).
My hair is short and its natural black now, but its been purple, red, green, and blue... not to mention I had green dreads this summer. I love hair dye ^_^ Right now its amelie style.
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
Hmm. I have no idea. Is it still as popular in Japan? It'll die here long after I expect, the public has just began to notice it.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
hobbies are:sewing, drawing, reading, video games (rpgs!), writing, knitting... I want to be an art curature, or find a waitress job in japan for a while.
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
Ideal apartment. Would have netting hanging off of ceilings with x-mas lights hanging under to make it look fairy like. Victorian stle couches and lots of mini paper lanterns. Everything a little dark, a little antiquated... a nice bright red kicthen with a balcony too ^_^
and the tens... ^_^
Date: 2004-02-10 10:09 pm (UTC)I sew most of them. Or I remake...
10b) Do you have enough confidence to wear extravagant EGL clothing out in public, or do you prefer to tone down your clothes for every day wear?
That depends on how I'm feeling... I have the confidence, but sometimes its also not the place. I love to dress egl to freak people out in my little town ;p
10c) What's your preferred EGL headgear? Full-sized hats? Doll-sized hats? Rectangular headdresses? Fake flowers?
Since my hair it short I generally like barrettes with litlte roses or bats, frills, and bows on them. I like top hats alot too, as well as some headresses.
10d) What do you collect?

10g) What do you think about satin?
eee. real classy satin in nice in some vintage clothing... not in my lolita wardrobe though.
10h) What period in time do you like best and why?
Victorian era, because of the progress, the litrature, and the romanticness.
10i) Ogenki desu ka?

10k) Who's your favorite GL artist?
mihara mitsukaz
10l)What is your favorite EGL accessories?

10) Add one question of your own and pass it on!
My question is: What is it about the elegent gothic lolita life style that drew you too it?
My answer is: The beautiful clothing, the fact that its different from anything else I incounter in everyday life, the mystery it gives your look, and how much fun it is.

Date: 2004-02-10 10:25 pm (UTC)- Probably my interest in jrock.
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.)
- I don't look too intensively into specific brands because I know I can't afford them and can't wear them anyway, so it kinda depresses me if I do because I'm so envious of these pretty girls who can wear stuffs like that. But um... prolly h.naoto.
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
- Although I've admired EGL for a long time, I don't have many EGL things just because it's not as convinient for everyday wear and I've had problems with my mom not wanting me to be "goth". But the few EGL things I do have are in the elegant category. I don't like wearing real short skirts, so all of my skirts are long, making them more elegant than the cute fluffy ones.
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
- I don't like reading books or novels. I love magazines and newspapers, though ^^* So yeah, I can't really answer this one.
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
- jrock, jpop, techno, DDR music, and a few random punk songs. My very favorite band in the whole world is GLAY. I also really like t.a.t.u., and even though I'm pissed that they're fake, I could listen to their album millions of times and not get sick of it. I also really like some visual bands, TM Revolution, Hikaru Utada, and... Avril Lavigne (Don't shun me for that one, please XD).
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle (note: i just think this is interesting because even while many EGL girls have similar clothes, I've been seeing a lot of different hair styles lately).
- Here (http://animespoof.com/snowweek04/snowweek04%20018.jpg) is a recent pic of me (I'm the only girl in that pic, and it's during my school's talent show where some friends and I did a funny skit =P). My hair is about two and a half feet long, and it was red but I'm attempting to get it back to it's natural color of blonde for my trip to Japan. My hair's not EGL-ish in the least, and it never will be because it would look AWFUL with my hair. It's naturally curly, so bangs don't work. Straightening takes too long. I like my hair really long, and I don't want to cut it. So, it just does it's own thing and I don't care what style it looks like =P
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
- No idea ^^* I think it'll continue on for awhile, but it'll die eventually. And then it'll come back again =P That's what happens with every fashion, it seems.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
- Computers, video editing, photography, and caring for my pets are among my hobbies. I really dunno what my carrer goal is anymore... I did want to be a movie director, but I don't want to live in Hollywood. I also want a job that's a little more reliable. So yeah, I'll go to college for something, I just dunno what yet.
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
- Something real neat and tidy (although my bedroom is the exact opposite), kinda dark I guess... I dunno, as long as I'm living with my girlfriend, it doesn't much matter to me.
10) What's your favorite animal?
- Hamster! :D I <3 my ham ham.

Date: 2004-02-10 10:39 pm (UTC)- I was first intrested in jrock, and fell in love with Mana's style of clothing. When I found out that it was gothic lolita and was an actual sub culture in Japan, I began trying to find out more about it.
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.)
- Alice Auua's designs are very appealing to me
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
- more gothic ^-^
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
- I don't really have any books that are related to EGL, although I have a few issues of the Gothic and Lolita Bible (my fiance's friend use to write articles for that magazine)
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
- jrock, jpop, black metal, some american music, a lot of imported music ^-^ Specific bands: E Nomine (German techno/dance), Dimmu Borgir (Black Metal), Dimension Zero (thrash metal), Ayumi Hamasaki (jpop), Dir en Grey (jrock), Nanase Aikawa (jpop), Opeth (Black metal)
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle (note: i just think this is interesting because even while many EGL girls have similar clothes, I've been seeing a lot of different hair styles lately).
- I have long, naturally straight hair that reaches my hips, and the typical EGL bangs, although that wasn't my intent when I got the haircut (not that I'm complaining!)
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
- Not really sure, but I hope it doesn't become mainstream ><
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
- I love creating artwork, listening to music, and spending time with people who I'm close to. I'm into photography, computer art, traditional 'fine' arts, and anime. My career goal is to be able to support myself by doing something art-related.. I'm not sure at the moment.
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
- I would love to have a room with dark crimison velvet drapes on the windows, and dark colors for the furniture such as dark brown wood and black or brown apholstry (wow, I can't spell), and a pretty, gothic rug on the floor.
10) If you could visit any country (other then Japan), where would you go?
- I would love to visit Germany

Date: 2004-02-10 11:29 pm (UTC)I had been interested in Japanese fashion and youth culture for a long period of time before I stumbled upon one of the first few websites that actually explained the fashion subcultures in English. From there I read about the Gothic Lolitas and I fell in love instantly because it was a perfect way of development for my own closet and fashion taste.
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion?
My wardrobe is a healthy mixture of thrift store finds, brand clothes from Japan and my own deisgns.
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
More Gothic than Sweet but never a Punk.
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
I can't say because I don't consider any books that I have read so far to be related to EGL. Alice in Wonderland is a nice book in itself and Paradise Kiss is a cute manga but I don't get any specific "lolita vibes" from them since I associate them to other memories.
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
I like anything that has a good melody or rythm. Right now I'm pretty much into Aphex Twin and similar things.
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle
I don't know who has seen pics of me or who hasn't, but I have my hair cut in the traditional "hime cut" and my hair reaches down to my... uhm. Ass. ^^;;; Whenever I have the time I always try to curl it but my hair is so heavy and straight that they never stay curled for a whole day.
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
It has already evolved a bit in Japan, you can see it very clearly if you compare Metamorphose's older garments with their newer ones. I think it's very exciting and I doubt that it will fade away.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
I sew, I play arcade and tv games and I love clothing and fashion in general. So of course I want to work with that in the future, be it as the buyer for a bigger company or my own brand.
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
I have my ideal apartment, except that it's not as central as I wish it would be. ;D It really needs some new wallpapers and furniture though but I would love it if it's in sober and warm colours like vanilla and maybe a bit of red.
10a) Where do you get most of youre EGL style clothes?
I sew it myself and I buy brand clothing when I see something I think is too original to make myself.
10b) Do you have enough confidence to wear extravagant EGL clothing out in public, or do you prefer to tone down your clothes for every day wear?
Of course I do. Whatever I feel like, I dress like. Even my boss encourages me to work in EGL attire. ^^
10c) What's your preferred EGL headgear?
Headdresses! And decorative ribbons to put up the curls in pigtails.
10d) What do you collect?
My Melody and Little Twin Stars merchandise.
10e) Uuhh.... do you like sheep?
No but I like the lambs!
10f) What does your room look like Now?
Yellow and white in broad vertical stripes. X_x It's like a circus tent and I hate it. I swear you can hear that circus music when you step through the door...
10g) What do you think about satin?
Most of the time it's tacky but I'm open for suggestions.
10h) What period in time do you like best and why?
Fashion wise? That's a hard one. I love the 20's because of their cocktail dresses, I love the 40's and 50's "gangster styles" and I love the 60's and 70's because of the platforms and bellbottom jeans.
10i) Ogenki desu ka?
Genki des. Arigatou.
10j) What is your favorite EGL website?
Antique Beast. It's fascinating that one person has made all of these wonderful things:
http://www.le-ciela.com/A-B.html
10k) Who's your favorite GL artist?
Mihara Mitsuka.
10l)What is your favorite EGL accessories?
My black patent dolly shoes with double straps and the superfrilly bag I got as a gift from Kazuko Ogawa the first time I ordered from her.
I won't add a new question because there are enough as it is. ^^;;;

Date: 2004-02-11 12:20 am (UTC)2)BTSSB has lovely stuff, and so does Mana's clothing line!! but i'm a plus-sized loli, so if they would custom make some stuff, i'd be in heaven. ^^
3)punk. ^^ i don't have many loli things, so i rely on my mom's loose elastic lace and my few dollars to buy scraps for accesories!
4)Alice in Wonderland. i mean, what's more of the original loli than Alice?
5)Duel Jewel, Miyavi, Deftones, Thrice, Thursday, Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday, Malice Mizer!
6)i have cornrows right now!!! i dun like them that much. before, i did have this really cute Mana-esque style. poofy pigtails. my hair has a slight wave to it. very cute!
7)more people in the US wearing EGL. not becoming too big, just a nice little cult following.

Date: 2004-02-11 03:40 am (UTC)I think I first saw it at visual kei concerts. I don't exactly remember.
2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion?
No. The closest is probably Moitie.
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk?
Elegant and gothic, but I have to be VERY careful with the Lolita part because I'm not so young and I was never cute. I wear some Lolita things but I try to make the overall look more mature so there isn't a huge discrepancy between the clothes and me. You can't go wrong with Moitie blouses, though. *hugs Moitie blouses*
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way?
Interview with the Vampire, maybe.
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands?
Visual kei -- Lareine, Moi dix Mois
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle.
That's me in my icon. The hair's hip-length and I usually curl it when I dress up.
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general?
I think it has the potential to go on for a long time as a subculture, but in Japan at least I don't think it's likely to gain popularity.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal?
Hobbies: cosplay, internet
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated.
Just clean would be fine. ^^; Usually when I'm at home I'm occupied in a project or book so it doesn't matter to me whether my home is beautifully decorated or not.
10) Do you have enough confidence to wear extravagant EGL clothing out in public, or do you prefer to tone down your clothes for every day wear?
I'd really prefer to save pure Lolita style for my dolls because while I love the clothes I really don't think most of them suit me. I'm totally confident in the more mature aristocrat style but very very picky about incorporating Lolita elements into my clothes. Usually I save "extravagant" dress for days when I have a concert or special event to go to, since it takes 2~3 hours to do the hair and makeup to match. On an ordinary day, I usually just go for comfortable no-make visual band style -- black suit or simple pants style, no makeup, hair long and straight.
uh, i've seen your pictures

Date: 2004-02-11 10:16 pm (UTC)2) Is there a particular brand or designer whom you feel sums up your fashion? (i.e., if your entire wardrobe consisted all of clothes and accessories from Angelic Pretty or in a similar style, you'd be so happy, etc.) I like Victorian Maiden the most.
3) What's your EGL look? Sweet, more gothic, even a mix of punk? For the most part, I'd say I'm a gothic flapper. I usually go out in Mary Janes (flats, though), knee-hi stockings, a nice skirt (pleats are my favourite), a long top, flapper pearls, and a scarf tied to the side in a bow over my short hair. For my make-up, I have my face pale, penciled eyebrows, heavy black eyeliner, and bright red lipstick. Sometimes I go for Little Nell's punk rock/ tap dancer look or an Empire gown. Only dark colours.
4) What's your favourite book that you think can be/is related to EGL in some way? "The Worst Witch" series. Okay, they're British books and I'm not sure if they're popular in Japan, but they would certainly fit in. They're cutesy, young witches with cool uniforms. Even their old-fashion swimsuits are cute. Plus Miss Hardbroom is so elegantly gothic in her long, dark dresses with her hair in a tight bun.
5) What kind of music do you like? Specific bands? Eh, my music taste is weird. In one day, I might listen to Sailormoon song collections, Rudy Vallee, Rocky Horror, classical, polka, and Edith Piaf.
6) If we haven't seen a picture of you, describe your hairstyle (note: i just think this is interesting because even while many EGL girls have similar clothes, I've been seeing a lot of different hair styles lately). A short flapper bob. Right now it's a bit like Cara Bow's, but I slick it down now and then to look like Columbia.
7) What do you see as being the future of EGL, in terms of specific styles or longevity of the fashion in general? It might evolve, but I don't think it will die out anytime soon.
8) Random, but: what are your hobbies? Career goal? I like collecting gems and minerals, singing, drawing, making jewelry, decoupage, costuming, gardening, puzzles, history, and art. I plan to be a successful writer and am working on a children's novel.
9) Describe your ideal apartment/house/room, especially how it's decorated. I wish I could live in the Tanner Academy from the film, "Suspiria" as I love the Art Nouveau designs.
10) Add one question of your own and pass it on!
Would you like to see more period fashions incorporated into EGL? If so, which ones? Yes, Egyptian, Regency/ Empire, and the 20's-30's.
a worst witch fan!
Date: 2004-02-12 01:26 am (UTC)they are a good series, the atmosphere's a bit unsettling so I wouldn't want to live in the book but it's a fun read.

My costume is based more on the TV series, which I am I huge fan of. I guess I'd rather live at Hogwarts than Cackle's myself, but mostly because I'm so gah-gah over Snape.
I dare J.K. Rowling to deny Draco and Snape were not at all inspired by Ethel and Hardbroom! I wonder what Jill Murphy thinks of the matter...
